312 Chicago is centrally located the Loop Theater and Financial District. Every room offers iconic city views including City Hall, the Thompson Center, the Board of Trade and the Cadillac Palace Theater. The ambiance evokes the comfort and sophistication of a 1930’s supper club, but the style is pure, modern elegance with rich walnut wood and dramatic chandeliers.
A good choice for our pre-matinee lunch before heading to Lyric Opera. Service was attentive and friendly.
Dining room on the second level was comfortable and attractive, with terrific views of City Hall and the threatened former State of Illinois building. A little too loud as the lunch crowd filled the room, but tolerable.
Our appetizer and lunch choices were delicious, fresh and well-prepared. Seasoned olive oil and bread basket also very tasty. We didn't have cocktails, but coffee was freshly prepared for us, and also of good quality.
Waiter was friendly but not obsequious. Two of us had the salmon, which we agreed was the best we'd ever tasted-- perfectly prepared and beautiful to look at! Hadn't been back in a while, will make the next trip sooner rather than later.
Relaxed atmosphere combined with great service and reasonably priced food that tasted good made for a great date night. Location was perfect for a pre-show dinner. Walking distance from at least three major dowtown theatres. Look forward to our next visit.
Great service. Authentic food. What else could you ask for??
A truly superb experience. Dined here with 4 other diners, all international, all with experience travelling in Italy (including myself). Everything was perfect. Whitefish entree, pomodori salad, cocktails, wine, dessert, and coffee. I am already recommending this restaurant to friends.
food was great and great value. Our server was very friendly and helpful
The service was terrific - the food was great - and our request for a quiet space was honored. This is an exceptional restaurant and I am always thrilled to share it with people who haven't been to 312 before.
Very nice restaurant! Only one recommendation. We came to celebrate an engagement and did not expect anything special beforehand. But a few nights prior, I received a phone call asking if it was for a special occasion. I informed them yes for an engagement, which then I was expecting us to get a complimentary glass of wine or something similar. We only received a "congratulations" card. Again, this is not a compliant, just a recommendation. If people are coming to celebrate such a special event, I believe there should be something more given than just a card. Otherwise, great place.
Great date spot by theaters. Halibut was done perfectly. Chicken had real flavor. Fritto Misto was flavorful. We would come back!
Just delicious!!! Service was great. I wasn’t comfortable at the initial table and they switched us no problem. I’d love to go again!!
Great food and service. Went for dinner before the show and they were very quick.
When I see homemade pasta dishes on a menu, I'm in. The tortellini did not disappoint...could've had another serving it was so yummy.
While I had one of the best pork chops ever, the menu was very small. Host staff very inviting but server struggled with menu and specials. 2 story dining space has potential but decor was worn and in need of updates or repair. Go for the food, but not the experience.
I had one of the specials -- sea bass. One of the best meals I have ever had.
We loved our lunch experience. Great waiter Franke. Food terrific
Great place to entertain or due business. Food great, service outstanding and location perfect. Will back again soon.
Food was good and service attentive. Ambiance is a bit tired and could be spruced up.
The experience was definitely one that I would love to do again. Splendid job for the overall performance of the staff!
Service was amazing! We had a couple special requests that the staff took care of with no problem.
This is a fantastic restaurant to go to. I took my wife for our anniversary after going to the theater next door. We loved the specials that were offered the night we were there. It was a difficult decision to choose between the prefix menu or ordering ala carte. Simply put it was a fantastic experience and we can’t wait to go back.
Four of us (two had been there before) enjoyed the mimosa and some time to relax and enjoy our food before our show. No rushing!! It was great in every respect. We'll be back!
Mother’s Day Brunch for party of 4 was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed the Short Rib Hash with Poached Eggs, Hollandaise Sauce & English Muffin. Fantastic! My family enjoyed the Brioche French Toast (2 orders) & Buttermilk Pancakes. The fresh fruit on plates was generous & the bacon & sausage sides were very good. The gratis Mother’s Day Mimosa...Grapefruit, was a nice touch.
My husband dines here for Business Breakfasts & recommended. I do too!
We dined at 312 Chicago with the friends , all ordered their special fish entree - Bronzino Mediterranean, and it was excellent. Calamari Appetizer was also delicious and surprising more than just calamari - with shrimp and salmon included as well. We were going for a show after the dinner at the Cadillac Theater, so location is unbeatable as well, just next door. Great experience overall!
Next to the Cadillac theater. Great place to right before a show. Had the salmon and it was delicious
Very disappointed in the quality of the service and the food in what I thought was an upscale restaurant I booked for a birthday dinner for my wife. Menu was uninspired. Caesar salad was bland and pasta dish overly salted.
Excellent place! The food is classic yet exciting. Plenty of options to please everyone in your group. We enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. They gave us a sweet "Happy Anniversary" card too. Perfect place for a delicious meal before a show! We
Service was excellent, very attentive. The eggs Benedict was delicious, hollandaise sauce was creamy and rich.
Great place to dine before the theatre. Good service, solid menu.
very happy with food and service! Would return the next time we're downtown
Went to 312 Chicago for dinner before a show. Server was attentive and made sure we were finished in time for the show. Food was wonderful, portion size was great. I was very pleased with the experience and will definitely recommend 312 Chicago in the future.
First time visitor to this amazing establishment with my family while we were visiting Chicago. Everyone was extremely warm, welcoming and took care of us to the fullest. I also appreciate that even though the restaurant was slightly busy, we had an opportunity to converse directly with the head chef who came to our table during our meal. Surely a place I will visit next time I am in town
Very nice setting and great food. It was loud when we went - had to really elevate voice to talk to others in my group. Convenient to the theater.
Really fantastic restaurant! Very convenient if you are going to a show at the Cadillac Palace. The food is fresher than fresh and it’s incredibly tasty. Worth every penny. Will definitely go back again. Try the shrimp avocado toast appetizer. Off the charts!
I was looking for a nicer, but reasonably priced restaurant near the lyric opera and this was a perfect choice! We had the vegetable lasagne and flourless chocolate cake, both delicious! I highly recommend it.
Waiter was very rude. Slow service with attitude on his face, very unpleasant dinning experience. Took away the signed check when we were still chatting at the table.
312 could probably get by on its location alone, but I've now dined there on several occasions ranging from Restaurant Week (how I originally discovered it) to pre-theater dinners and each visit has been excellent. The arugula, warm mushroom and goat cheese salad is a real standout - lightly dressed, it won't overpower your meal, although it probably could be shared given the generous portions of goat cheese (that pair well with the bread basket options). On this occasion, my mom had the pappardelle and I had a risotto special. The risotto was creamy and rich, with a lot of nice mushroom and cheese flavor.
The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had a pleasurable, pre-theater evening.
Food was delicious! Perfect place to go to before a play or concert
The event - Sunday brunch before the West Side Story matinee. My companion and I really wanted the chance to catch up - requested a quiet table. The entire 312 experience was perfect. We were placed in the most tucked away of comfortable booths - she and I both ordered items and asked for "modifications". The waiter was, from the very start, so gracious. All of our modications were honored. My salad was delicious and the shrimp were truly delicious. The restaurant was very busy, yet you could see the teamwork - and taste the care taken to make the food outstanding. We were so glad we chose 312 and plan to return.
I was there for a private event on a Saturday night. The staff, service, and food were impeccable. The only drawback is the noise level is very high.
Prompt and courteous service, food was presented visually appealing, and tasted good. Highly recommended.
