A very good lunch. Friendly server. Only small problem was that the cappuccino coffee was warm, not hot.
After going to the Aberfoyle Mill for many years I am sad that their salmon dish has been changed. This was a favourite dish not only for me but others who have joined us at the Aberfoyle.
Please bring it back !
Quite possibly the best caesar salad you can get anywhere! Incredible food!
Visited to celebrate a family birthday. We were given the table requested upon arrival. The hostess was pleasant and attentive. Our server came to our table shortly after and was also very pleasant. We ordered wine which was brought immediately to us by the hostess. We received our appetizers and after we were finished our appetizers our mains were brought a short time later. I hate restaurants that are dropping your main even before you have finished your appetizers. Food was good quality and reasonably priced for this level of restaurant. We will definitely return
Great food and service.
Nice antique type atmosphere.
You should go.
The food and service was great but this quaint place is looking a little tired. A little TLC would really spruce it up...such as updated washrooms, paint touch ups, cleaner windows.
I had lunch in the dining room. Best caesar salad in town!
We made a reservation for the Wednesday night as there were 8 of us. They were ready for us and had enough staff on that we never wanted for anything. The prime rib was exquisite and the steaks, pasta, and fish were equally wonderful. We all raved about the ceasar salad. There were vegetarian and vegan options as well. It was a beautiful night to celebrate a birthday and we are never disappointed at the Aberfoyle Mill restaurant. Thank you!
One of the best restaurants around Guelph, nice place, good food, price is fair
to expensive zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Our server Victoria was very knowledgeable, friendly, prompt and attentive. All the staff have a wonderful sense of humor. The prime rib is always perfect and the fish of the day, halibut, was exceptional. Don't change a thing.
I have eaten here many times. The food is always very good and well presented. The service is good and one gets good value for your money.
The best restaurant in the Guelph area. Amazing food and service.
Such a nice & cozy restaurant.
It's our favorite place to ho.
Very good food and the service was very knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks Ellen
Welcomed as soon as we walked in the door. Table allocation was perfect for quiet conversation, waitress introduced herself when presenting daily special options and then gave us time to make our selections.
Food was professionally served and was both tasty and of good quality. Beverage service also excellent (tea and coffee were hot) and bill presentation was polite.
Maitre 'd and waitress made eye contact and made us feel important.
Our appetizers were wonderful. Spice shrimp delicious. Escargot was cold. We both ordered grilled lamb chops. We weren't asked how we wanted them cooked, so they came almost rare. Very tough. All different thicknesses. Smashed potatoes we're awful.
I found the service great! I did think the price for the food and what you get was a little high. I have had prime rib at alot of places and it did not seem you got 10 oz even my husband said the same thing.
We arrived early in the evening before the crowd and noise level increased. Our server was extremely polite, and very attentive to our needs. We were a little disappointed in the meal and felt it overpriced. My chicken was dry, and the cream cheese and spinach filling didn’t taste like cream cheese. My husbands meal of duck was undercooked, as there was still blood coming from the meat. He was not impressed. The temperature inside the restaurant was very comfortable; I had brought a sweater with me as I was afraid the AC would be on full blast, given the extreme heat outside that day. I would try this restaurant again, choosing a different selection, and again I would come early to receive the personalized service.
Prime Rib dinner is supreme.
And James Bond would love the Martini.
Food was outstanding and wine great. After the meal we had creamer brûlée it was outstanding!!
We bith had the salmon...it was deliciuos. We shared the dessert platter...it was great too. The caesar salad was great as was tge hot soup...whole meal was wonderful!
Have been coming to Aberfoyle Mill for many years. It is consistently high quality food with staff who are attentive, informative and pleasant.
One of our favorite places
To visit when we’re in town. Food and service are always excellent and the chef is very accommodating to anyone with special dietary requirements.
Overpriced for the food we were served. The shrimp linguine was particularly disappointed.
I have been eating at the Aberfoyle Mill for over 45 years and have never had anything but a positive experience.Keep up those high standards!!!
The staff are so kind and understanding. We always seem to run in to a difficulty of some kind, but they never let on that it's anything but normal. We love coming to Aberfoyle Mill.
Wonderful food. Exceptional service.
Went for a birthday celebration on a Sunday for the prime rib. Service was quick and food delicious as always.
Great food and service. Very unique setting
Worth the drive from Thornhill! The striploin, done medium, was outstanding, and the white choc/raspberry cheesecake (large and nicely presented, so we shared) provided a very satisfying conclusion.
Birthday dinner for 2 friends Excellent food. But need to improve the tea. Had Higgins bag earl grey tea no flavour. Suggest changing brand to Twinnings or a more flavourful brand of tea. Otherwise everything was excellent.
Great ambience, food is average, service is great, easy parking
Aberfoyle is great. What sets this place part is the department of their servers. They know why they are doing plain and simple.
Not enough Room for my review, sorry! But, in a nutshell?
The food was not up to our expectations (at least, no one raved about it, and mine and my wife's fish and our Granddaughter's fish was not as good as that she makes at home), but the presentation was quite nice. The service was not acceptable, but that may have been just me and our particular server, and it revolved around two issues I have with payment. One is the business of these machines including HST in the tip calculation and the other has to do with servers looking over my shoulder while I type in my PIN and make my tip selection. On the other hand, the atmosphere was pleasant and relatively quiet.
Will we go back? No, we have had relatively positive experiences there in the past, but I think this finished it for good! Sorry! Nice old MILL!
Certainly a nice place in the country with good food. Unfortunately the service at this visit was not as could be expected for an establishment like this. We were seated in the loft, right by the stairs with the railing. With the exception of serving the main menu, our server made it only about 2/3 up the stairs, and did all the “transactions” over the railing. This was very awkward! He also never offered fresh water or more hot water for the tea. We did address the issue with a manager and were reassured that this was not standard practise and the issue would be rectified. Still, our evening was not as special as it could have been.
We so enjoyed returning to the Mill to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Great service and delicious food! We will be back in another 5
We went to Aberfoyle Mill to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary because that is where we were married 20 years ago. The staff were very friendly, the food was great, and they even gave us a complimentary piece of lemon cake to celebrate!
Great food and service . Nice atmosphere as well . Would definitely recommend
I am sorry to say our experience was quite disappointing. We were originally seated in a dark corner, when there were other open tables in the main room. The Caesar salad was good, but not for the price. All three of us had the prime rib which was not medium-rare as requested and the au jus was too thick and tart - it did not enhance the flavour of the meat. The price for the quality did not equal value. It will be many more years until we return.
