Very interesting meal - we enjoyed it and will come back again!
Fantastic food and service. Best meal we had in Canada, after having spent 5 days in Toronto.
Excellent food and service. Setting is in a basement of a hotel - Once inside it’s fine. Portions were not large but just right. Waitstaff was very friendly.
Without a doubt, this was one of our best dining experiences ever, anywhere. Each course was absolutely excellent, as was the service. Although this is a farm-to-table restaurant, we didn't expect that the wines would be local also, which turned out to be a very pleasant surprise and introduced us to the quality wines produced in this area. A great find!
Great service and food. Price is reasonable considering it's in a tourist area.
Excellent experience as always! Great food!
Our waiter was wonderful. The food was amazing. Overall a wonderful experience!
The food was excellent. The adjacent table was bit loud. I am sure if we go again they won’t be there
My wife and I booked a room at the Sterling Inn as part of a stopover from Toronto to Pittsburgh (and our anniversary). We decided to try to restaurant after seeing all the high reviews. It definitely did not disappoint. The food was outstanding. The prix fixe menu provided an abundance of choice, accompanied with a great local wine list. We'll definitely be coming back (to the hotel and restaurant both!).
The meal was above and beyond. Perfect pairing of foods. This was my first fine dining experience and I think my bar is set high now! Thank you for a great experience!
Such a diamond amongst all the other eateries in Niagara Falls.
Stylish, elegant, creative, delicious proper food. A Michelin star worthy.
My husband and I dined at AG at The Sterling for the first time in early August. We received a small bite of a complimentary chef's offering which was rabbit and radishes. It was delicious. I ordered the halibut with lemon cous cous and summer greens. I was told the fish would be pan seared but it tasted as though it had been poached. Although the overall dish was nicely presented and the sides and garnishes were seasonal and delicious, the fish was not my favorite. It was a bit "wet" for my taste and I would much have preferred a different preparation. My first course was a summer strawberry and greens salad which was quite delicious. My husband ordered the duck confit with summer vegetable ratatouille. He enjoyed the dish very much although he mentioned the duck may have been slightly overdone. The desserts were simply delicious. I had the chocolate chocolate cherry tart which featured a chocolate crust, pastry cream, Oreo crumbs, and fresh Niagara cherries. I devoured the entire dessert and enjoyed every last bite. My husband ordered the pound cake with grilled peaches and mascarpone. He enjoyed the cake and peaches but was not a fan of the mascarpone. Our waitress, Brianna, was knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. I would definitely recommend AG at The Sterling. I like that someone explained every course as it was brought to the table.
I am a longtime fan of AG. This was the first mediocre experience I've had.
The service was awkward at best. The wine list on the table has only glasses listed. You have to ask for a full wine list. Weird.
The ambiance is good with the music choice being somewhat odd: it was a playlist of women singing covers of songs. Whoever was singing Chris Isaak's Wicked Game did a really bang up job.
The food was very good with a few missteps: the halibut was cooked perfectly but not well seasoned. The venison was similarly cooked simply and beautifully. The coffee crust didn't add as much flavor as you would think but the edamame puree was fantastic.
The real disappointment was dessert: cheesecake with freeze-dried berries. Think the berries from Special K Red Berries. You put the crumbled berry in your mouth and feel all of your saliva instantly absorbed by the berry, followed by Rice Krispy style popping and crackling. It was literally audible through my closed mouth. I am happy that I was with my wife because we could laugh about it. If this was a date with someone new, it would be embarrassing.
Overall, a 7/10 from a place that has many years of being 12/10. The server was condescending without actually being competent.
The restaurant was off the beaten path and not easy to find down on the lower level. That makes it a true hidden gem. The menu was varied. Everyone in our larger group found something to their liking and were not disappointed. I really appreciate that it's local ingredients (some fresh from the restaurant's own farm) and top-notch Niagara wines. A definite recommend!
Not the experience my husband and I are used to at AG...this was our “go to” place for a nice dinner and date. Just very disappointed with our Saturday evening there...random music playing too loudly (not the sexy, jazzy atmosphere we usually get while there) Not sure if under new ownership or if staff has just turned over...service was horrible (waiter had zero personality) The food, however was excellent as usual, but everything else, we were extremely disappointed. We have been to AG many times, as we are local, so just not sure what’s happened to this restaurant. It just seems like any other regular “chain restaurant” now, with the loud music and bad service.
Loved the ambiance and the food is extraordinary! A hidden jem!
We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem in the basement of the Sterling Hotel in Niagara Falls. It was not busy on a Thursday evening, service was attentive, excellent farm fresh items from their own farm. They also provide a delicious room service breakfast to hotel guests as well as a champagne reception in the early evening.
This amazing restaurant is hidden in a basement of a hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Niagara Falls. Excellent and attentive service was noted and appreciated. We were a group of 7 and were seated at the "chef's table" - a somewhat private room, which was a nice touch. There was a prix fixe menu that surprisingly had a lot of variety of dishes to select from. I started with a salmon appetizer and then had the beef tenderloin which is a house specialty and then ended with chocolate cheesecake. Every dish was exquisite, beautiful presented and carefully explained by the attentive server.
Food was FRESH as they promote farm to table dining. I did find it the food expensive but was well prepared!
Great meal and great service. Very cohesive menu
A wonderful hidden gem for those who value farm to table experiences. Prix fixes menu so worth the time to unwind from the tourist activities of your day.
Good food. Expensive. Difficult to find.
For being in a tourist trap of a town, this is a nice restaurant. We enjoyed our meal here although it was a little pricey compared to a lot of similar "farm-to-table" experiences I've had in other places. It's in a basement of a hotel, so the ambiance isn't amazing, but the staff is friendly and super accommodating. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here, but if in town, I might consider going here again. The ingredients were definitely fresh!
What a find in the heart of Niagara Falls. Midst TGIFridays and fast food chains, is this gem of a restaurant. Food was fresh, and so creative. Service was superb. And I don’t understand the reviews complaining about the cost. Tremendous value.
The place is fabulous. The service and the food were
Outstanding!! Really enjoyed. Wish this was by my house.
Great dining experience. We had the prix fixe 3 course menu. We had the beef tenderloin and halibut for mains. Everything was very tasty and service was excellent. Nice to have the piano player. Decor and ambience were very nice. Only negative was that portions a little on the small side for the price paid. But with the bread and three courses we did not leave hungry.
Exceptional food and service. Quite possibly the best in the region.
As usual everything was excellent! The food is always fabulous as well as the service and attention to detail. Glad to see it was busier than usual, maybe the word is finally getting out. In my opinion, this is the best place in Niagara Falls for an elegant evening out.
Stephan was our waiter and he did a great job. The food was excellent. There were 5 of us and no one had any problems.
The food was excellent, the music was soft, James was an outstanding attendant to our needs; we highly recommend the AG.
Nice French cuisine in Niagara Falls area.
Wide selection of food
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be going back next time we come back to Niagara Falls. Bri was our server and she was attentive and explained everything and made our dining experience memorable. Thank you Bri for an exceptional experience.
Enjoyed our experience- server was accommodating with regards to a more private table we didn’t have to wait very long. Bartender was friendly and the musician added to the evening. Would definitely go again.
Our main criticism is the Dining Room is very dark and piped in music too loud for a fine dining restaurant . The guitarist after 8 was excellent. They could keep the room dark if they located spot LED lights above tables.
We would like to commend the Chef for creativity, great presentation and delicious food. The wine list of Niagara’s Wines was well assembled and affordable.
We’ll be back.
My wife an I done at AG inspired every June for our anniversary. We are never disappointed. The food and service are always impeccable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an intimate, upscale setting and delicious French inspired quisine utilizing fresh local ingredients. We may go back at for peach season !!!
Farm-to-table done very well. Very good and interesting dishes in all three courses. The asparagus veloute (soup) and the new strawberry desert stood out. There isn't much that's classy about Niagara Falls, but AG is. We stayed at the boutique-level Sterling Inn and got a discount.
Beautiful plates, lovely staff, and great flavor. Desserts were fantastic !
Considering the prices, my expectations were sky-high. They were not met. The food's good, but hardly mind-blowing. And how does a farm-to-table restaurant in Niagara Falls get octopus?
I highly recommend a dinner here, the price is amazing and the food is 5 star!
Ignore the lack of a view. That’s not why you go to AG at The Sterling. The food and service were exquisite. The ingredients were seasonal and fresh. The menu was innovative but not insane. Try the fiddleheads and anything dusted with bee pollen...you’ll be glad you did.
