Lovely 👍
Better option for vegetarian. 👌Food and service was good 👍can’t wait to come out again.🤗
Perfectly prepared food in the restaurant with warm ambiance and professional waiters with excellent suggestions.. we will be back!!!
I had made a Reservation for 9:15 on Valentine’s Day. Showed up on time and the lady at the front kept moving us around to different tables. After finally being seated, 30 minutes had gone by and the server did not come by to serve us our drinks let alone take our order. Once he finally came back to take our order we waited another 45 minutes just for the server to come back again and ask us what our order was... I believe he may have misplaced our order or forgot to ring it in completely. It took them an hour to give us a glass of wine ... it does not take an hour to pour wine in a cup.Another 40 minutes had gone by and people around us had already ate and left and people who arrived after us had also been served their main courses meanwhile we still waited for ours. Every time our server came around our table, he would look at us and just turn away. We had to ask another server what was going on with our food and why our server wasn’t coming to us. This lady went to the kitchen and told us our food will be ready in 5min. We finally got our food after sitting there for 2 HOURS. The food was not worth the wait at all. The risotto tasted like water and the fettuccini was powdery. After eating our food it was almost 12am and the server had the audacity to ask us if we wanted desert..... we did not want to risk sitting there for another 2 hours for a piece of flavourless cake so we left disappointed and still hungry. I understand it was a busy night however the restaurant should’ve been prepared and our server should’ve been more accommodating. We saw many couples leave early without eating and we regret not doing the same.
I have not had such a horrible experience in a very long time. Food was decent but when you have to wait over an hour and a half for your appetizer... Don't even get me started about the entre, just embarrassing to reach the 3rd hour sitting there to not even finish my meal and leave.
Quite good. Better option for set Valentines Menu. Also, would have been nice to be told that this would be the only option for this day, as it was not communicated. Food was good!!!
We spent 2.5 hours at this restaurant and half of the time was spent just waiting for food. Several tables around us left before the food even came (they waited 1 hour). Would not come back here again.
We wait for the food almost 45 min the food was good but very slow
The wait time was crazy!! We spent 3 hrs in the restaurant for a 3 course dinner. Its valentines, u know its going to be busy so you guys need to be prepared! We could have done something else instead of waiting for our food.
The ambiance gave a warm welcome. The menu extensive and the service attentive. But the evening was affected by the poor state of the Washroom facilities.
Our server was fantastic! Food was great as always.
We chose the Dine Out menu and were extremely pleased with the appetizers (antipasto and ceviche). The entrees were nicely presented - salmon roll stuffed with scallop and prawn on risotto; veal chop with port wine reduction - and perfectly cooked. But the sides were simply steamed vegetables that didn’t compliment or enhance in any way. The truffle mashed potato served with the veal was boring - I had expected more flavour out of that but would still have preferred a roasted potato or just none at all.
Tiramisu was good. Nothing wrong with it but not stellar either.
Service was very good but there was some odd confusion after paying the bill where apparently they wanted to cancel the payment because they gave me the wrong veal chop and so wanted to change the bill. Weird. Five minutes later they said everything was okay.
The big downfall was the restaurant itself. Tables are nicely set with tablecloths but the floor looks dirty, there were cobwebs in the corners and it just gave the impression of needing a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.
Negatives aside, I would return on a different occasion just to try the regular menu.
We used to frequent Al Porto all the time but something has changed... our Caesar salads were not fresh, lettuce was wilted and turning brown and the mushroom bisque soup was tasteless. My chicken piccata was delicious but the seafood risotto and seafood pasta was mediocre. Our waiter was great and they did comp us our dessert. We’ll probably look for another restaurant when we get together next time.
Amazing food great service cant wait to come back and try other dishes .
I ordered the ceviche, calamari, caprese salad, seafood risotto, and tiramisu. The starters were amazing! The flavours were fresh and perfectly blended. The salad was 7/10 because it was fresh but not anything special. The seafood with the risotto was cooked perfectly and made the dish worth it. But the risotto alone was meh--lacked flavour. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had. On top of the food, the service was great! Will be back!
Good food, knowledgeable waiter, casual atmosphere.
Our waiter was simply amazing even though it was New year's Eve and he was run off his feet. We had a wonderful romantic dinner and some great cocktails. The only downside was the giant private birthday party which seemed to take precedence over New year's Eve. Nonetheless we will be back.
Had the most wonderful and romantic experience here on NYE. We had the Osso Buco and the Lamb. Just perfection. Paired with lovely drinks. We enjoyed delicious salads as appetizers and had Tiramisu for dessert. Unbelievable meal with fantastic service. Our first time going to this famous restaurant and now we know why.
Customer service was poor everything else great
We took our family here for dinner on Christmas Eve, the ambiance is excellent, it looks like you stepped into Italy as you walk down the stairs into the dining area. The food was great for the most part, 3 out of 5 dishes were excellent. I thought the cannelloni was the best, I had the spicy chorizo pasta which was average.
The bathrooms were not very clean however.
Overall I thought it was a beautiful restaurant with a nice atmosphere and decent food, not too expensive.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice but our waiter was impatient, inefficient and unfriendly.
We enjoyed our meals on Christmas Eve. Our food was overall good - we preferred the pasta dishes over the fish. Our server was nice and did a good job considering the restaurant was packed and appeared to be understaffed. We'll definitely come back!
The server was friendly and nice, but everything else was unsatisfied (hostess and foods). Ruined our Christmas Eve dinner and won’t come back to this place.
Open table app wouldn’t let me modify the number of guests, and al Porto didn’t answer the phone all afternoon And evening. But they did accommodate us very nicely in the lower dining room, not the tables upstairs with view as requested. There was a private party takeover. Great restaurant, but communications could have been better
The lunch special is a great value. The wine recommendation was very good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our visit
I was able to book a table for 11 which I needed. Service was wonderful and the food very tasty.
Perfectly prepared food in a restaurant with warm ambiance and a professional Waiter With excellent suggestions. Would
Happily return again and again if I lived in Vancouver
We love the early bird specials! Good value at the price - extremely good portion size. Attentive and friendly waiting staff. Our friends and family like it too. We're glad you're on Open Table.
We were asked where we wanted to sit & had no wait which was good.
Service upstairs wasn’t very good, slow service, long wait for drinks & food. A number of times were told didn’t have items we ordered, forgot bread, had to ask for utensils. Very loud, however it was music not patrons.
However the food was very good.
Scallops and shrimp were very good
Very professional services and food was great !!
This restaurant use for big party to business meeting as well
Our server, Fabio, was excellent! Friendly and attentive, he made it a very special evening.
Good service and yummy authentic Italian food! Great selection of Italian wines. Will come back
Good food, nice ambience. Dinner specials are a great deal!
Great food. With amazing service. One of the few places in Vancouver I could say has good service
The food was decent not as highly as 4.1 stars for their ratings. Service was alright. They were really short on staff today. Food overall was not as what I anticipated for an Italian restaurant.
We've been here a few times but on this occasion the food was poor. Too salty, stodgy and generally poor quality. We also didn't appreciate having tables dragged around us for the last half hour as they set up for large groups of diners the day after.
We had a reservation for dinner before a concert we were attending - we arrived at this charming restaurant about fifteen minutes early, so sat at the bar and had a glass of wine. At the appointed time, the hostess seated us at a very nice two-top in a room with only two other tables taken. We sat for 20 minutes - no water, no bread, nada. We tried to get the attention of both the server and busser who were flitting in and out of the room, but the server didn't ever look our way, and the busser appeared not to speak English, or else she was ignoring our request for service, as she muttered something unintelligible as she whisked by us for the fifth or sixth time. Eventually a different server arrived, apologized and told us they were short-staffed because two people had gone home with pneumonia. Well, that gave us pause!
Our server was a bit flustered, but he really did his best to get the show on the road, so to speak. He brought us two more glasses of wine (no charge) and made suggestions for possible entrees. We ordered, and our meals arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The food was very good - I had a chopped salad and my husband had the caprese salad. Both were fine. For my entree I had the Haida Gwai halibut and my husband had a pasta dish. Again, both dishes were well prepared and very good.
I would come back to eat at this restaurant - the food was good and the prices are reasonable. I guess maybe it was just an off night for service, but not enough to keep us from returning.
Excellent Restaurant, Service could be better
We ate here twice on our first and final evenings in Vancouver, before and after a cruise. Easy walk from our hotels, nice ambience, on the waterfront but you don't really get much of a view from most dining tables. Food was outstanding, cocktails good. I would have like to see a California Chardonnay on the wines by glass list but not a huge drawback. Would recommend with a warning that service can be slow -- we waited forever our first evening for our check.
I have been going to Al Porto for about 35 years.....the old & new ownership.......consistantly GOOD
