The service was terrible. Very, very long time for the orders to be taken; Even longer than that for the food to eventually arrive and even then some orders were mixed up or just wrong. One pizza had to be re-done (we we're never told about it or would have just cancelled it) and it was served when everyone else at the table was done. Minimal communication by the server on what's going on and it appeared as if they didn't really care. On a positive note - we had an occasion and desert and a bottle of bubbly were brought to our table on the house. Even that couldn't make up for the very poor service we received. Never going back or recommending to anyone.
Great food great atmosphere.
As always we were not disappointed. I had the chicken parmesan with gluten free pasta. Very nice and the roast vegetables still had a small crunch to them. My husband had the veal T-bone steak which he told me was outstanding. The food here never fails us.
Fantastic find, delicious food, excellent service, really nice vibe and authentic. Highly recommend, would return in a heartbeat.
Great menu selections and wine list! Our meals were delicious! The surroundings are very Mediterranean and set the mood! The bread could have been fresher, but was fine. I recommend this lovely restaurant!
Food quality and flavor were average for Italian. Service was average to below average given the price and expectation as a white table cloth restaurant. My wife ordered a second glass of wine which came way too late. The waiter did not charge us for the 2nd glass. First time to Vancouver and Al Porto. I can not recommend this restaurant.
Loved the quiet atmosphere. Service and food outstanding .
A true Italian restaurant. Fine wine list, great food and good service. If this was at home we would be a regular customer. Even the general manager has an on hand approach to keep standards high.
Al Porto is a little hidden gem. Good Italian food and great service in the heart of gas town.
We discovered this restaurant in gastown while shopping. It's downstairs in a quaint basement area. Our waiter Fabio was wonderful- Italian from Milano. We started our meal with an appetizer of calamari-tender, nicely breaded and flavored with scallions and freshly diced tomatoes. The homemade bread and olive oil with balsamic vinegar was great. My daughter had the Cannelloni di Verdura and I had the Veal Lasagna. Both dishes were delicious. We finished our meal and shared a Tiramisu. Moist, perfect amount of espresso and covered in just the right amount of cocoa powder. A delightful meal. We ate there twice during our stay.
Very authentic, server did a great job, recommended some nice wines
Still a great restaurant
Authentic Italian food in a comfortable restaurant with amiable and simpatico service. Fresh, local seafood. Good wine list. Enjoyed a wonderful seafood risotto, in an imaginative presentation. This place has the hand of the owner on it...the polar opposite of chain dining. Very happy we decided to dine here on our visit to Vancouver.
My wife and I enjoyed the pizza, the service provided by our waiter, and the ambiance. We always have a wonderful time here, and we will certainly return, and recommend Al Porto to our friends and family.
Came for 20th wedding anniversary. Food was delicious and service was great. Servers didnt let our drinks get empty!
Interesting menu plus standard Italian fare. Portions were generous. Decor is classy Italian. Good service.
Delightful as always that made our wedding anniversary special. Great selection of Italian wines
Food was less than stellar.
Very good Italian restaurant. We were there for lunch on Mothers Day. The food was excellent and so was the service. The only part I think the owners can improve on is the ambiance. It is old and outdated. A modern look would make this a 5 star rating.
It is tucked away in a side alley but look for it. Worth the trip to gas-town.
Food was great. Great lunch deal. $16-19 lunch combo that comes with soup, salad and pasta or pizza. Was seated upstairs where it had a great view of waterfront and Canada place.
The Italian restaurant my friend and I often go for dinner. The Linguine Pescatore is a must-try. Their Early Dinner Special is also a good value！
We always enjoy our dinner there before a show at the QE or Playhouse, we take advantage of their great early bird special before showtime.
We truly enjoyed our dinning experience. It was relaxing, great ambiance and the service was excellent.
Our second visit to Vancouver, our second visit to Al Porto. Great food and great prices. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended!
The food was good but took a really long time to come out to our table. It took about 30-40mins and there were only 3 other tables eating so it was not busy. And we had asked one of the waitresses about the happy hour and she said she was going to be right back to tell ya and never came to explain it to us. She also cleared our plates while I was still chewing and took my husband’s plate when I was not finished yet which is not proper etiquette. Won’t likely ever go back.
I’d heard a lot about this place and decided to try it out with a friend. The food was phenomenal and the server really helped out with choosing the perfect wine. Older crowd of people but a genuine family feel good restaurant with great service. Will definitely go back again.
The food and service here was amazing! We were here for my husbands birthday and had a wonderful time. We would definitely come back again! Thank you to Peter our server for taking such great care of us!
Perfectly average... and that won't do. Not in Vancouver. World class city with sub par Italian. I feel these folks just don't care. And that's a shame. They could have make authentic italian food. I highly doubt there was a single Italian in the kitchen. I cannot recommend.
It was a fun night out, great service
SPECTACULAR !!! Thank You for quality and kindness.
Tried Al Porto on a whim. Amazing food, impeccable service! It was very refreshing to have all staff greet you and acknowledge you when coming in and leaving. Highly recommend Al Porto.
A friend of mine suggested this place and I am so happy that I listened to her advice. Food was delicious and it has a relaxing environment.
Great place over and over. Kind enough to prepare my wife’s favorite, puttanesca sauce, even though it was not on the menu.
It was an experience as always. The hospitality of the servers and the food quality was pretty good.
Buen servicio, la comida muy buena pero el lugar ya se ve viejo y con poco mantenimiento!! Considero que una buena manita de gato no le caería mal y mejoraría la apreciación de este.
We have been going to this restaurant for many years and have rarely been disappointed. We always have the same individual (John) helping us with our dinner and wine selection. If ever our food is unsatisfactory, John fixes it up.
We wen to Al Porto for a celebration dinner and it was awesome! The staff were super accommodating and helpful, and the food was great.
Excellent service, Great atmosphere, Excellent food. I have been coming for 5 years and enjoyed it every time!
We enjoy Al Porto for the location, ambience, food and service. We enjoy the early bird special before a show or theatre.
First time at the Al Porto, food was great and service was amazing! Thanks our server - Peter for your great service and the surprise dessert!
