Alma Cocina - Downtown
We are open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week and are positioned perfectly for downtown corporate and social group and private dining.
Alma is operated by Fifth Group Restaurants, owners of Atlanta favorites South City Kitchen Midtown, South City Kitchen Vinings, La Tavola, Ecco, El Taco, Lure and Bold American Events.
Always great coming here. The service and staff are wonderful and the food and drinks are amazing.
Have you ever tried butternut squash and fig-jalapeño guacamole before? It was my first time trying these fancy guacamole. The butternut squash is my absolute favorite now, I’ll definitely try to make it myself. The street chicken tacos had a delicious flavor of lemon grass. The only topping lacking on the tacos were onions, I can’t imagine my tacos without onions. Besides that, the rice and beans were well seasoned. I got their most popular cocktail, “Just Wear Black- milagro blanco tequila, agave syrup, hand-squeezed lime juice / spicy rim.” It was a bit too sour for me but went well with my food. I was dying to try their flan, unfortunately, they didn’t have it at the time. I definitely would like to go back for the flan and the Guacamole Trio.
One of the top Mexican restraurants I have ever eaten at. Had dinner one night and went back for lunch the very next day. The dishes are so unique. Not your typical microwave Mexican restraurant. The chef and staff really know how to create delicious meals. A MUST GO when you’re in Atlanta
The food at Alma was absolutely amazing!
Awesome, as always. We’ll be back!
The food was wonderful. Very flavorful and the cocktails were perfect.
Delicious! We got the salsa/guac sampler appetizer which was the perfect amount for 4 as well as margaritas! We all got street tacos for dinner which were also small but the perfect size to not be too filling. Food was all fresh and delicious with great service and atmosphere. Will be a staple for all upcoming Atlanta trips in the future.
Delicious food the tortillas they served with the guacamole were amazing. The chicken tings tacos were my fav and my husbands goat tacos were spicy and yummy. Only downfall was the waiter was not very attentive, rushed and didn’t really listen to us at all aside from that everything was great!
First time eating here and it was outstanding. Great service too!
The Margarita's were outstanding. The Mole Chicken was great and the location downtown was easy to get to.
Wonderful service from our waiter and maitre d'. Always enjoy it here.
Everything was great..... Until it came time to get it bill. Couldn't find out waiter..... So flagged down another who printed out bill. Then we waited 10 minutes for our waiter to pick it up and run my credit card. Slow. Other than that absolutely fantastic dinner.
Service was fantastic. Server took the time to explain the menu and made great drink recommendations. Food was excellent. Very flavorful.
My wife and I lived in Mexico for 10 years so we are always searching for the best Mexican food. Alma is becoming our favorite and my wife asked to go there for her birthday.
Our server was friendly and helpful. My wife had Chili en Nogada . It was an excellent vegetarian version of this standard. I had the steelhead in a spicy pineapple mole. Both were wonderful.
For dessert we shared a coconut milk tres leches cake that was delicious. I highly recommend Alma Cocina.
Loved it so much a few days earlier we went back. In from out of town for the marathon. Had to try all the vegetarian options. Delicious
Excellent food and service! Everything we tried was amazing!
We had a great dinner here celebrating on a Saturday night. Drinks were great! Food was delicious but a lot spicier than we were expecting. Get the guac sampler!!! Service and ambiance were also exceptional.
ATL Tourists, Go here for great flavorful and modern Mexican. When I heard Mexican and Atlanta, I thought,” hmmmm? Smh” But, its a superb restaurant. I and 5 colleagues went there during a conference at a nearby hotel. Perfect ambience; great sharing small plates for apps and entrees-many vegetarian options. Highly recommend. So much so, my boss tried to go the next day for an early lunch but it didn't open until 1
Had the most amazing waiter! Both my husband and I are vegetarian and our waiter was very knowledgeable about how the food was prepared. We asked for recommendations and each dish was wonderful!
Takes over the top of the list from Rosa Mexicano.
Food was great. Waiter was personable, but not very attentive.
Great food. Mediocre service. $17.00 martini?!?! Love to eat here. Will never drink here again.
I would go back just for the fried cheese!! Excellent service and the best churros I’ve ever had!!
Definitely miss the old menu. It an effort to offer a different menu than other Mexican/Southwestern restaurants... they took away nearly everything we loved about this place. For heaven’s sake, even the tortilla chips are gone! (Replaced by large, flat, greasy tostados. Would the manager like to explain how the heck we are supposed to scoop up their hugely overpriced salsas?). Even the margaritas don’t taste right anymore. (Think the same bad mix as is it their sister place Original El Taco in ViHi.). Oh well, restaurants change with the tides. I’ll try them again in a year or two.
This is a go-to for authentic high end Mexican. Our bottle of wine wasn’t delivered to our table for an extended amount of time due to a disconnect between the server and the manager, but the food here is always good. Please bring back the plantain chips!
The food was fabulous! The octopus especially.
Always a great lunch option downtown. Ask to be seated in the lobby area - it is more open and bright.
I love this place. Food is great and a great ambiance.
Welcoming a new hire for our team at work. I always love the food at Alma. Service was a little spotty, but we made it through.
Always 5 star food and service!
I don’t think we’ll be coming back. The service was awful. Our server didn’t pay attention to our orders, she forgot our drinks and extra tostadas. The food was ok. Whenever we needed something our server was never there. The staff was very aloof and not attentive.
Going to a concert
We have "fallen in love" with this place! We have been there 2x for lunch, but 1x for dinner. We brought our friends with us and they nothing but good things to say. Our waiter, Jayson, was excellent! He was very knowledgeable about the good. We had the guacomole and salsa tray, fried cheese for appetizers, one of our friends had the chicken street tacos; I had the scallop our husbands had the steelhead dinner. I highly recommend this place!
We had a great meal on a Saturday night. We had made reservations for 6 were very glad we had them as they were full for the evening. The food was excellent - fresh with unique flavor combinations. Everyone at the table ordered something different and we all enjoyed our food. The atmosphere was festive and there were people waiting to be seated. The bar area filled up right away too. The classic margaritas were better than average, especially rimmed with the chili powder in place of salt.
Food was excellent. We were a party of 10. We had 7pm reservations for a party of 4 and a party of 6. They would up seating us together at a table for 10 which was appreciated, but they changed our reservation time to 7:15 and it was 7:30 before we were seated. We could see them setting up our table and it took way longer than it should. They were not that busy for a Friday night. The great food made up for it.
Slow service. Forgot things that were ordered. Otherwise excellent.
Great restaurant but the didn’t give me my 100 PT’s on open table
Great food and margarita. Bartender had great recommendations and everything priced reasonably.
Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. During our dining experience, two different managers came to the table at different times to ask how everything was. It felt a bit intrusive especially given that we had an attentive server and we hadn’t complained about anything. Food was delicious!
The guacamole trio and corn esquites were great!
