    Food took almost two hours to come and there was no one in the restaurant ffs terrible experience and will not be back

    The food was not good. This restaurant use to be amazing. We live in Calgary and use to come just for this restaurant. Great food, amazing taste and quality, and good price. Now the menu is non existent, our meals were poor especially for the high price. My chicken was the tiniest piece that was way overcooked and dry. Terrible and we will never return. So expensive. What a disappointment. Their charcuterie use to have so many options now only a couple and out of the four meat options did not have one that I wanted for over two weeks. So sad. A the one can of beer on their menu was $16. Like what!?! And the menus we got were not the correct price. Get it together people. Did order a bottle of wine but a $300 bill for that what a joke!!!

    Had the brunchuterie board, and it was a good value for the price. Fed two of us perfectly. The only thing I would have liked would be to have the pulled pork on the board served hot. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Room is nice. Would definitely go back for brunch.

    Had high hopes for Ampersand based on Google reviews & photos but unfortunately it did not live up to the reviews & photos. Booked a table for 4 on a Wednesday evening at 6:15 for my daughter’s 18th birthday. She is moving to the Whyte Ave area for University so it seemed like it would be a perfect spot to celebrate and familiarize herself with a restaurant in the area. The service was adequate but the menu lacked variety & the food was underwhelming. We had a burger, pasta dish, steak w/salad & a salad. The burger & the pasta was ok but the steak & salad arrived as a salad with sliced steak. It was cooked rare & extremely chewy. The beet & orange salad had bitter oranges & the beets were molded into a round “cake” form that sat on a bed of maybe 20 pieces of arugula. Due to it being a mid week day evening, I didn’t expect it to be overly busy but we were only one of 3 occupied tables in the whole restaurant. Not the best vibe for an 18 year old dinner celebration. I was hoping for somewhere more lively. Not horrible but not worth a return visit for me.

    Ampersand 27 lives up to the great reviews with quality food at reasonable prices. We came on a Monday night in mid summer so we practically had the place to ourselves but they say reservations are recommended and it’s clear why that is. Happy hour is 4:30 to 6 PM and the drink offerings were a strangely large glass of red wine and a rather large serving of “house lager” that was pleasantly smooth for only four and six bucks respectively. We ordered the garlic flatbread which was unusually delicious for a happy hour offering. Light, crispy and flavorful with four large pieces. You can build your charcuterie and unfortunately they had no smoked duck left after the weekend so we substituted it with a very flavorful aged capicola and chose goat cheese (excellent) and Brie. We opted for a full flatbread that was light, airy and delicious and some “Thai onions” (unclear what is Thai; they are just marinated in vinegar). Next time we’d add a jam. It’s priced a la carte according to what you order. We had two cheeses and a meat along with one happy hour appie, one main and dessert which was more than enough for a complete meal. For the main, we split the seafood linguine which was cooked perfectly al dente in a flavorful and lightly spiced marinara. Shrimp, mussels and scallops were all fresh, delicious and the seafood portions ample for the price ($34). As it was my wife’s birthday, they comped us cheesecake for dessert which was smooth with great crust. In a post COVID, inflation ravaged world, restaurant freebies are both rare and highly appreciated. Great extra touch. And a shout out to the server who was a native Edmontonain. He provided friendly excellent service, a bit of conversation and reminded us of dining out in Edmonton circa early 2000’s before the rest of the mostly obnoxious out of province new generation changed everything. Coming in at about $120 including tax and tip, we highly recommend a visit to Ampersand 27 for great value and quality food.

    The waiter was very knowledgeable and recommended amazing drinks. Great drink selection. Went in a group of 6, food was really good. I had the steak salad and the steak was cooked perfectly. Great flavors. The husband has the chicken and he really enjoyed it. Lots of flavors, also had the cheesecake which was quite delicious. Small menu but all amazing.
