Situated beside a creek, with a large dining room built out overlooking the falls, Ancaster Mill is in demand year-round for weddings, family or corporate events and celebrations. Restored to keep its authentic character intact, this is a place where ambience fuses with fine food and great service.
As usual fine food an every friendly helpful service.
Feel bad for the servers and hostesses having to waste all their time accommodating diners wishing for tables with a better view.
Overall, a great brunch experience.
Excellent experience, my wife had a view of the waterfall. Steaks were good, portion size was good, dessert was also good. Service was good but somewhat casual for the prices. The location is what makes this place. The value for the dollar is good but not excellent.
Lovely place to sit and enjoy a fine meal.
We had such a great experience at the Ancaster Mill. We went for my partner's birthday on a Sunday - which meant the Sunday Supper was on - didn't realize when I booked and felt a bit panicky when I realized (I have a partner who loves meat and I'm vegetarian so because of the family style nature of the service, I thought one of us would have to sacrifice) but they totally accommodated me as a vegetarian. I had a really great herbal tonic to start and every single thing both of us ate/drank was amazing from beginning to end. The service was warm and attentive and the atmosphere was really lovely. I have been raving about our dinner since we went and will definitely return!
it was great experience. Food was delicious and staff very professional and helpful.
Food is always excellent. Just lines are too long and discourage to wait.
The view and food is out of this world. It’s a beautiful place.
As usual, everything was perfect. It was our 53rd wedding anniversary and we couldn't have been treated better. From entrance to exit and everything in between, you could see the quiet competence of the staff and their attention to detail. A perfect meal is not only about the food. It is also about the little touches added by all the staff, both those seen and those behind the scenes that makes it all work so well. Thank you! And congratulations to all of you who made our experience so wonderful.
It was an unexpected lovely find. Very pretty, best suited for a romantic dinner. Food was truly delicious- starting with the appetizers and including salads and main dishes. Just a couple things could use improvement: the young hostess girl at the reception area was rude and unwelcoming. We were dressed in a casual gear and she was very abrupt with us. Second issue- the carpets could use some cleaning and updating. The rest of the space is absolutely lovely.
Third time at the mill and enjoyed every visit. Food is excellent as is service and the grounds are beautiful. Do not hesitate to book.
Noticed way too many kids getting in the way. Seemed like chairs were too tight to other tables. Had to wait longish for some food items. Due to this and then when did get to my table food was now cool I think it was overpriced. Given the cost I don't want to have young children left roaming around as well. Overall had better previous experience but this one was not an overall good experience.
We come to the Ancaster Mill for all of our family celebrations. We had the pleasure of sitting in Michael's section and he was a pleasure to interact with and helped to make our experience a lot of fun! The world needs more people like Michael!
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Ancaster Mill. The location, ambiance, service and food were all excellent. Our table location couldn't have been any better being beside the waterfall and stream flowing just outside our window. The view of the gardens, waterfall and stream added to our 43rd wedding celebration.
We would definitely come back with a group celebration or just the two of us.
Beautiful place. Waiter was extremely helpful. Very enjoyable
It had been years since I was there last it was a great surprise to grind it had not changed.
A great place to get married and visit year after year on your anniversary to celebrate.
High School Graduation & 20 th Wedding Anniversary
Once again, the steak I ordered was inedible - should have learned from last time - the staffs' efforts to rectify the situation were laudable, but I was so disappointed that my appetite went south - I've learned my lesson not to try to get steak that is acceptable (not tough, and cold) - probably will return to the Mill for something other than steak.
Fabulous food and exceptional service.
Fantastic. Food, service, amazing atmosphere, everything. I would definitely return.
Children diners putting fingers into chocolate fountain and staff finding it cute........enough said.
Very good as always, no complaints!
Been to the mill a few times, but was pretty disappointed this time around. The waiter was slow and was never really there to take away dirty dishes. You could tell that a lot of the food in the hot food section had been sitting around in the heaters for quite sometime.
I always love the Mill, however Father’s Day brunch was a bit of a let down. I booked my reservation quite a while ago and was told that it would be a maximum two hour booking which I understand and appreciate given it being a special day. We arrived a bit early and checked in for our 11:45am reservation and had to stand in the extremely crowded and loud entranceway until 12:10 when we were finally seated in the Fallsview room which was at least 1/3 empty. Not sure what the wait was for, but given that we have two very small children (2 and a newborn) at home with a baby sitter, we then had to rush through our brunch and fight through the crowds to get food, which took forever to come out. There were several bookings for large parties (I.e. birthday party, baby shower, etc...) who all swarmed the buffet at the same time. It was overwhelming and a let down because the chaffing dishes were mostly empty and we didn’t get to enjoy all of the dishes. I will return to the Mill, but certainly not to enjoy a milestone day like Father’s Day. We left disappointed.
The whole experience very enjoyable, lots of events going on during the fathers day weekend. Servers really look after our needs and were very attentive to what was happening at our table. The valet service was excellent, one of the attendants offered to take our picture near the falls. Would like to return on a dinner night rather than brunch.
Beautiful location with attentive service. We celebrated Fathers Day brunch and it was busy. They could have had more stations for the crepes, waffles and eggs. Lines were long 15-20 min wait as they only had 1 waffle maker, 1 crepe pan, and 2 egg pans. Had a good brunch selection. Would recommend for special occasions.
Most enjoyable lunch with old friends.
Excellent surrounding. Nice food & service. Definitely will come again.
Our waiter Andrew was very professional, friendly and had great service. My husband and I were entertaining our friends from London England and celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary.
A couple dinning had a baby. The baby cried most of the time and it was quite disturbing.
Other than that we enjoyed ourselves.
Our party had a wonderful time. Top notch from the front to the back. Food was excellent and all of the people in the dining room took very good care of us. Highly recommend the Sunday supper, so relaxing and enjoyable.
We had previously dined at the Mill and had enjoyed both the food and atmosphere. This was not the case on our visit June 10/19.
The food was very lacking, biscuits were over salted and dry, the eggs Benedict had little to no hollandaise sauce and were cold, as were many of the hot dishes . The lamb was overcooked and the beef, although tasty was overly fatty.
The coffee tasted burnt and the Caesar cocktail was undrinkable. It was also presented without celery or a straw which is what one would expect in a restaurant of this caliber.
We were a party of four out for a birthday celebration and the Ancaster Mill disappointed us. After this visit it will be difficult to recommend the Mill.
This was our first weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I and we wanted to enjoy a nice dinner out at a beautiful venue and Ancaster Mill definitely provided!
Our waiter was named Stephen and I highly recommend him as your server if anyone ever goes to this venue.
This might be the best venue we have ever been to. Better than a sunset on the Indian Ocean. Better than a table looking up at Mount Norquay. Better than dockside in San Fransisco on a rare, warm evening ..... Service was excellent, wine list was very good and menu is farm to table. Food preparation & presentation was very, very good. What's not to like?
It was a lovely place to have an anniversary dinner with my wife. Especially, I love the fall right beside the restaurant. Service was fantastic, too!
Wanted to take my wife on a "date night". The Ancaster Old Mill came to mind for its beautiful setting, ambiance, great service and great food. We have been to the Old Mill many times and have never been disappointed. This last time was no exception. If you need a "must have" perfect evening then the Old Mill should be your choice.
Only complaint we had was the lack of parking..had to sit in parking lot 10 min. waiting for someone to leave. this was after going through all parking areas.
Exellent service, fantastic selection beautiful setting! It has been out famiky go to for all special occasions for over 35 years! Always lovely! The only complaint I have is I requested the room with the fireplace ( 3rd time ) & have never been accommodated . I think could do a bit better than a cupcake for a birthday. Otherwise we love the mill.... always lovely
We asked for a table at the end near the falls and were accommodated - but it turned out that that end of the room is very narrow and is all hard surfaces so the noise level was too high for comfort. We had trouble having a conversation or hearing the waiter.
In future I would stay far away from the falls end of the room as the noise was very unpleasant.
The service was excellent and the food was very good. I'm afraid however that I think $12.00 for a small slice of pie is just excessive.
The setting is spectacular -- we looked out on a waterfall as the sky darkened and the lights came on. The service was attentive and helpful as well as prompt but not rushed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A total hit.
