Situated beside a creek, with a large dining room built out overlooking the falls, Ancaster Mill is in demand year-round for weddings, family or corporate events and celebrations. Restored to keep its authentic character intact, this is a place where ambience fuses with fine food and great service.
10 oz striploin, tomato corn salad, sauce choron
Confit Duck Leg
rutabaga, dried fruit jus
saffron rice pilaf, marinated cucumbers, green tahini
during these trying times, the staff made our experience pleasant. We had not gone out to a restaurant since February this year, and would recommend to others to make a reservation and enjoy an evening out.
Pls add more vegetarian dishes
Great experience! I am vegan and they were very accommodating, fantastic vegan options that was different from the regular options I normally see. Would love to see the vegan options added to the menu or a note to ask about vegan options so we didn't have to ask. Our server was incredibly nice and helpful. Perfect date night!
Amazing place, would definitely come back again!!!
Beautiful decor as usual. Very open and spaced. Few changes with covid but excellent experience
Took our granddaughter for her birthday since she’s always wanted to go. Mentioned in reservation it was for a birthday, since the question is asked when reservation made. I also mentioned to person taking us to our table. It would be nice if an acknowledgment of occasions were made in some small way (candle on her dessert?) I don’t expect anything free but if you don’t care why people are coming to your restaurant, don’t ask.
The food was great as usual and always enjoy as the Ancaster mill is where I was married many years ago
Lunch was amazing!!! Will definitely dine again
It was the best dining experience I have ever had. Had a wonderful time and will be back soon for sure.
Excellent ambience for a romantic dinner. Beautiful waterfall.
We were celebrating our son’s 23rd birthday. I asked for a table overlooking the falls and we were accommodated with no issues.
The food was amazing and the service was efficient and friendly.
We look forward to going back soon.
Steak wasn’t great. Not a good cut and I should have went with chicken or salmon. Everything else was awesome
Great food, great ambiance and the service was exceptional! Perfect spot for a special occasion
My boyfriend and I had dinner here for the first time for our first anniversary. They were able to accomodate my request for a waterfall view and the staff were very attentive. They gave us complimentary appetizer and champagne to celebrate. The buttermilk ice cream was the show stopper for me, and my partner really liked his steak. 🖤 Thank you for the memorable night.
Fantastic food, just the right amount. I love their cocktails!
And Beautiful view. Lots of room with tables far apart.
Wonderful place. Food was excellent. Bit pricey, portions small. But very good. Service was excellent. Would for sure go again.
A beautiful location for lunch. Will definitely go back.
Great food excellent service!
This was a great place to have lunch. The waterfalls room has a spectacular view- the sun eventually came out. Kyle was our server and was very friendly and efficient. His colleague also worked hard to make sure all of our needs were met. the salmon was was arranged very artistically on the plate. it was a delicious meal. my friend had a nice birthday there. thank you staff for the most enjoyable time. it was nice to get out and feel safe when eating.
Excellent atmosphere and exceptional wait staff. The only complaint this time would be the cost of the dessert was not worth the value of what you received (portion was a little small)
Came to celebrate our 17th anniversary dinner and was greeted nicely with the hostess.
Felt very safe to eat here. Had to option to eat outside (as it was a beautiful day) or inside but decided to eat inside and the tagliatelle was amazing and so was the sandwich of the day (roast beef). Good portions and not badly priced for lunch. Great atmosphere and even saw a bride & groom as they have outdoor chapel.
Amazing experience! Food was great, tables properly distanced, and our server was awesome. Definitely will visit again.
I met with a business partner over dinner, since I am retiring at the end of November.
The food was amazing, ambiance great and server was very courteous, friendly and quick.
Great job everyone, that’s how things are done in Ancaster.
Will be back before you know it.
Thank you very much !
Excellent food and service. The pumpkin soup and tagliatelle are to die for.
Great food great ambient
Very nice, a little on the high side as far as price goes.
Dinner was good, drinks and deserts were excellent. The place is very spacious and tables are quite apart so there is enough safety and privacy.
We had a very pleasant experience at the restaurant and are grateful to the staff for accommodating our seating preferences.
We visited the Ancaster Mill after a beautiful hike in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.
While we aren’t flatiron steak fans, the chef served it beautifully and thanks to recommendations. It wasn’t worth the $36 however (unless AAA).
Many tourists also visit the Mill because of its wonderful setting but we had a “gentleman” on his phone + video conversing with someone on the other side of earth about the menu etc. It took away from the serenity.
Regardless, the staff helped and moved us to a much better table and away from the sightseeing.
Keep this in mind when visiting
The Ancaster Mill is a great experience. From ambience to history to food it was heavily enjoyed. We were fortunate to get the best seat by the window right near the falls. The food was beautifully prepared and of great value. A lux experience.
The decor, ambience and the view is very nice. The food is great as well. It is a very romantic restaurant.
Food was very good and the ambiance allowed us to converse. Very pleasant evening.
The atmosphere and the service of this restaurant was amazing however found the food itself was mediocre, especially for the price. I had the char and my white bean side had zero flavour to it at all. It tasted like a can of beans was opened and put on my plate. My hubby had tenderloin which he did really enjoy however again his sides had hardly any flavor. Garlic mashed potatoes barely tasted like garlic and I don’t think his squash was seasoned at all. For dessert we had a cheesecake which was fantastic itself however the fig jam was way too overpowering, we scraped it off in order to enjoy the cheesecake. We frequent higher end restaurants and I thoroughly enjoy cooking myself and always enjoy trying new dishes however was disappointed by these. If this menu is changed after the season I may return simply for the beautiful surroundings but would not return for the food itself.
We had went for our anniversary, we had gotten and married and had our reception there a year ago. We saw that they had their Sunday Supper still up on their website. We were disappointed to hear that they were not providing that option. We were really looking forward to Prime Rib! It also asked if we were celebrating something special, which I did state that it was our first anniversary. There was no recognition for this... We were disappointed because it was an exciting time for us. But other than that, our meal was delicious and maybe we'll try again next year.
We were disappointed with the food. We believe the price we paid for the food is too much in regards to the taste and servings of it. The fish is blunt and the lamb has that tangy taste which makes it not so appealing.
However, we were delighted with the cozy ambiance inside, awesome falls in the garden, and quick serving of the food.
Wonderful experience food was Devine , a experience for the tastebuds and the visual senses with pine of the best views , in the area can’t wait to return soon
Great restaurant. The area around the building is gorgeous and quaint, and the interior is beautiful. Service was excellent and the food was great.
Once again, another outstanding dinner at the Ancaster Mill! Thank you again for a lovely evening.
We went for lunch on Friday, my wife had the salmon and she enjoyed it but did not care for the brussels kraut. I started with the sweet potato soup, which was tasty but could have been warmer. I had the honey mustard glazed chicken breast which was good. There was Tokyo turnips and barley risotto which were good. They include a large piece of cabbage, which was alright, but really, should have included a different vegetable for the price of the meal (I think cabbage is the cheapest vegetable you can buy). Carrots at least or some type of seasonal squash would have been far better.
The server was very good and the Mill and grounds are incredible. We made reservations on line and there was follow with the reservation as a reminder. When we made the reservation it prompted a question if "this was a special occasion". I did answer that we were celebrating our 46th Wedding Anniversary. However, nothing was acknowledged or congratulations by anyone from Ancaster Mill. While I did not say anything to the hostess or waiter, really, YOU ASKED THE QUESTION AND DID NOT FOLLOW UP. So why did you ask, it was not busy either this day.
Fabulous dining experience at Ancaster Mill. The weather was so nice, that we decided to dine outside with the waterfall behind us Exquisite setting! The pumpkin soup was outstanding. And the service was steady, but not rushed.
When we toured the inside of the tea and the building, everything was socially distanced apart.
Excellent food and service, would have preferred to be able to continue to sit and chat a little longer however I understand shorter seating periods during covid.
