Situated beside a creek, with a large dining room built out overlooking the falls, Ancaster Mill is in demand year-round for weddings, family or corporate events and celebrations. Restored to keep its authentic character intact, this is a place where ambience fuses with fine food and great service.
Went for our anniversary as we renewed our vows at this amazing restaurant last year for our 30th
Everything was perfect. Truly enjoyed the meal, service and ambiance in a classy restaurant.
Very nice evening out. Our table was in a back corner; would of been nicer if the table was closer to the main area (closer to the falls). Staff was friendly, food was delicious and the live entertainment was lovely.
What a lovely restaurant. Had a business dinner with 2 guests and the service was excellent! The staff at Ancaster Mill tended to our needs with ease. The food was excellent as was the atmosphere. And the views in this restaurant are stunning! Kudos to the team at Ancaster Mill!
It was my birthday and I had requested to be in the back room near the waterfall but we were out in the side room with no view The food and service was great but I was disappointed about my seat
We had a slight wait for our seats but that is because the restaurant is so popular. Once seated service was quick, pleasant, and efficient. The selection at all of the food areas was very good as was the amount available.
The place was very busy when we came in and was seated according to our time schedule.
it was explained where everything was. The food was delicious especially the Greek salad and the beet salad. So many choices of bread. The view was very nice and calming.
Need to update price on Open Table re cost of brunch.
Food was not nearly as good on previous occasions. Dark turkey meat was very dry, impossible to eat. Perogies were hard and dry.
Eggs Benedict was excellent !
Our server Alana was excellent !
I feel like there could be much better gluten free options.... better bread, better dessert options
Very nice place with fresh food. I would give 5 Stars but not much choices other than different pie's as a desert.
The Ancaster Mill used to be my family's first choice for Sunday brunch but, I was very disappointed with the quality of food and the service. The lamb was under cooked and the seafood was not fresh.
Overall the food selection and flavour was delicious and fresh! Nice Ambience too. The only comment was my hubby wanted to try the omelette but no server was at the station. He went back a few times!
The food is always delicious. The fresh made crepes and eggs Benedict are always my favourite. The staff are all very friendly.
Celebrated my wife's birthday at the Ancaster Old Mill. With important celebrations, I don't leave anything to chance and I now that when you want to impress the ones you love, the Old Mill will never let you down. Thanks to all the staff who made this such a wonderful experience.
Sever was awesome, food and drinks are always great! Really worth what you’re paying for
Great night, wonderful food, excellent wine list, perfect service and a view of the falls.
I have never been disappointed at the Ancaster Mill. The quality of the food is outstanding! Although it is a lovely restaurant, I have never felt as though it was too fancy to feel comfortable. This is the perfect spot for a special occasion. They even had dairy free ice cream for the vegan! I would highly recommend this wonderful spot.
A unique experience in a very comfortable setting. The greeter was very welcoming and the server was knowledgeable and made the meal a wonderful experience.
Awesome was the view of my dining companion, and praised the food, service, ambiance, and the scenery.
We come to brunch a couple times a year, I saw u had some afternoon weddings so it was extra busy. How However, for the price the food was just alright. Selection didn't seem to be as previous visits and not replenished. For a family of 4 and my son was half priced the bill with tip was $250.00, didn't seem it was worth that price. Service and atmosphere were great as always
Outstanding service, as always. Never feel rushed. A nice time with the family.
Much too noisy, tables were too close, a few pampered guests were seated in a nice quiet room while the rest of us were relegated to cafeteria seating
Always LOVE coming to Ancaster Mill. Everything is always spectacular.
My daughter was married at Ancaster Mill and my other daughter married at Cambridge Mill.
We always have excellent service.
Keep up the good work!!
Alyson and Bob Rutherford ...... THANKS!!!
The brunch is always a pleasure to attend and it never disappoints: a worthwhile trip to Ancaster.
Good in all corners, just a little too slow
The service there is amazing! If you need something anyone is willing and ready to help. They check on you at all the right times and the food was AMAZING! So much food how much you actually pay. I love how they do their service and are always bringing food once you finish your plate.
We were married in 2012 at the Ancaster Mill and have returned each year on our wedding anniversary. There is a reason we always come back. The food, atmosphere and the amazing hospitality have earned our loyalty as customers and dining at the Mill is a perfect reminder of the investment we have made in one another and our family from the day we were married onwards. This year we decided that when it is time to have another party and renew our vows -something we'd both like to do at some point, the Ancaster Mill will of course have to be the location. Thank you for the care you take in providing the very best of experiences!
The food was exemplary -- a stunning quail, impeccably cooked duck. Perfect garnishes for both. The waiter was very helpful with respect to wine pairings. We were seated exactly on time. My only quibble has to be with the live entertainment on this Saturday night. The Ancaster Mill seems to be presenting itself as a high(er) end restaurant -- having a guitarist/vocalist (however delicately amplified) crooning Eurythmics songs seems to work at loggerheads to the restaurant experience. When the performer finished, moderately loud music was played through the restaurant speakers. I do not speak for all, of course, but my experience would have been significantly enhanced with the absence of a performer and with the absence of popular, if mellow, music. Non-interruptive, strictly instrumental music would positively contribute to what I feel is the finesses of the Old Mill vibe. Why distract from astonishingly good food with quotidian cover tunes? If I'm looking for a performer, a cafe or lower end restaurant seems appropriate -- but not at the Old Mill.
Great food from a fairly limited seasonal menu (there should be something on menu for everyone).
I wasn't super thrilled with the arrival process. We got there on time for reservation and host said "Ok - wait over there and we'll let you know when ready" and it was about 10 minutes before we got to our table and about 30 minutes after reservation was made before we even got drink order in. They also placed us at a very small table initially, but we got moved on request. (There was only one of these very small tables in the restaurant so I guess we were unlucky at first). Overall - first impressions were not great though.
Waiter and food were excellent and made up for that.
Elegant date night restaurant in a lovely natural setting. Plenty of space between tables, and tasteful live dinner music.
First time that we actually came for the brunch, reservation was for 2:30, taken at 2:50. Placed in a corner where the AC was just blaring on us. (October 20) Asked the waiter to get orientated to the brunch arrangement. The waiter was very nice, observant when we had no cutlery. We ate quickly as we were cold, capaccino at the end finally warmed us up. Got splattered by oil by the guy making omlets, wanted to give me a wet cloth to wash off the splatter. Was kind and concerned, however I found that a little sloppy, this isn’t an all inclusive, public should be a little more protected from the arrangement...luckily I wasn’t burned! However my garment is ruined. For this being my first time being for brunch, I’ll never come back, not a great experience overall.
Beautiful setting, wonderful food, great service. We are two couples who celebrate our wedding anniversaries at this brunch.
Janet - thank you so much for taking the time to comment and review your special occasion brunch experience with us. Happy Anniversary to all of you! We hope to see you again soon.
Was special occasion for Moms 80th Birthday. Had two tables booked; one for 10 & 4.
The party of 4 arrived at 11:15am for 12 pm reservation and waited until after the party of 10 to be seated. Which was after we arrived at 12:10. The table for 4 was in the adjacent room; not even close to us; unexceptable and extremely disappointing. Service was mediocre. Was too loud and he spoke to softly that no one at the table heard a word of what he said. Was asked to pay bill at 1:45 and advised to leave at 2.
The food was disappointing; meat was either undercooked or dry. Eggs Benedict was terrible. The young guy shucking oysters didn’t know what he was doing; you had to wait in line, then wait in front of him while he’s chucked them.
When I ate them they were full of grit from broken shell. Manager never came around to ask about anything?
Would not recommend this place for a specia occasion; your treated like cattle for Sunday brunch.
Drinks were premade and watery.
Overall, it is a good experience for us. We booked a table for Seven for Sunday Brunch. We came around 11:45 which is the most busy time slot i guess and waited around 10-15 mins for the table to get ready.
The food is always good and fresh, we really enjoy the crab and oyster.
Kevin, thank you so much for taking the time to review your brunch experience with us this past Sunday! The seafood station is always a crowd favourite!! We look forward to seeing you in the future :)
Sunday brunch buffet is one pf the best buffet in Hamilton. Fresh seafoods and bread.
Very nice place and great buffet. High quality and delicacies such as fresh oysters, shrimps, etc.
Only small feedback: would be nice to have a cappuccino machine. Also couldn’t find a toaster for bread.
My pasta dish, was well undercooked. Tasted like flour. No mushrooms to be found in this mushroom dish.
My partner’s fish portion size was tiny. Just not enough food for the money.
Apps and desserts were great.
Gorgeous setting. Top-notch service. Impeccable execution of the menu. A gem in the heart of Ancaster.
The Ancaster is a gorgeous place, especially in the fall. Food is creative, delicious and not pretentious. I docked a star because the size of rooms lacks intimacy but this is compensated for by the warmth of the design. Also, all that glass leads to a higher level of noise than perfect. However, all that glass allows spectacular views of the falls and gardens. All in all, a wonderful special place!
The Ancaster Mill is a beautiful location. If you go, make sure to request a seat by the window. The service is good but I was disappointed with the food. We ordered the chicken entree and the chicken was nicely done but the chanterelles and the sauce were not hot and the greens under the chicken was cold. For the price I was expecting a lot more. Also, when I booked the reservation I noted that it was for a birthday celebration. There was absolutely no recognition at all. Very disappointing.
