Our server was amazing! Everything was great!
The food was overall pretty good, but some of the meat was a little dry. Our group went on a Thursday night and it was pretty jam packed. So maybe reserve a table prior to going because parking is hard to find and you don't wanna drive all the way down there just to find out you can't get a table after spending an hour finding parking.
Everything was good except the service it was horrible. Our waiter was rude and snappy with our table. It was my husbands birthday and I was trying to get a desert for him the waiter totally blew me off I was totally taken back by his outright rude attitude.
Great happy hour specials from 3-5pm
the guac is AMAZING. 100% recommend.
Strong tasting drinks which is another plus!
An hour and twenty minutes for lunch. Twenty minutes between dropping off the drinks and coming back to take our order. Restaurant wasn't busy and wasn't short-staffed.
Good food. We’ll be back.
Restaurant was everything I expected from word of mouth recommendations, the food and service were great. Only thing I had a bid of a problem with was space. 4 of us were seated at a very small table with not enough room for our meals and drinks. People were very close on either side and had trouble getting to the restroom for lack of space in between tables to walk. Very busy and fun but also very hot and loud. Guess that is what you get with a popular place.
First off, I’m not usually one to write negative reviews. If it’s bad, I don’t review and if it’s great, I rave. But this was bad. Real bad. We used to be huge Anejo fans, but I’m certain after this last visit I won’t be back. We experienced terrible service and sub-or food at high prices.
The service was dreadful. Our server was rude, and completely uncaring about our experience. We were seated at a very small table, and ordered three appetizers as our meal to share. When they arrived, all at once, the food runner realized they all wouldn’t fit on the table. He did nothing to help us or make any suggestion on how to make additional room, just stood and stared while we scrambled to put our water pitcher on the floor set the menus on the bench and stack tortillas and chips on top of each other. It would have been nice when the sever took our order to suggest we don’t get them all at once, at least. The stone dishes that two of the appetizers came in hardly fit on the table, and he MUST have known this when we ordered... I wasn’t offered another margarita at all, because we were never checked on by our server once the food arrived. I asked for a caddy of sauces from the food runner and it never came. Unfortunately the unenthused service included the host staff at the door as well.
When the food did arrive, it was nowhere near the quality we come to expect from Anejo, and when you’re paying $18 for hot cheese, you expect SOMETHING to be memorable. The pork belly was under seasoned. The stone bowl that the fundido was served in was so hot that 40% of the cheese just burned to the side of the bowl and we couldn’t eat. The salsa molcajete was average, and definitely not worth the price.
I’m sorry y’all had a bad night, Anejo, but we won’t be back. Experience is everything, and this one would be tough to forget.
We booked on line and called as well to let them know that the reservation was for birthday. Nothing about that at the time that we showed up. No congratulation, no special service, nothing.
The food was in a good presentation but the portion was so little. Very miserable 😩 considering the price
As usual the best place in the city for a night out.
Best margarita’s and guacamole
We had tacos after 9:00 pm and they were cheap and great.
I love the food here but the music is always way too loud and the servers way too busy to actually check on how our meal is.
Our service was wonderful, very professional, knowledgeable and personable!
The decor was beautiful and the service was also friendly and prompt. The location is in a nice area with free parking in the evenings if you know where to look. It is more difficult to find parking on the weekends due to the popularity of the neighbourhood.
I have heard from others that the margaritas are amazing, but I ordered a Mexican beer with my meal since I am not fond of cocktails. My guest had the Wild Rose specialty beer custom made for the restaurant that was a dark beer with coconut and chili and he enjoyed it so much he had two. My meal was the grilled fish taco and I found it to be somewhat bland. It could have used something crunchy, and definitely needed some spice. Had my food been more satisfying, I would return, but, I plan on trying out other Mexican restaurants instead.
Birthday!!! Wonderful food and Server. We loved it there! Thanks
Best place in YYC for margs!!
Great halfyhour 3 pm -5 pm
We use to go to Anejo regularly before Flames games. I think this last visit will be our last. Our server barely paid attention to us and only really struck up a conversation while we were paying. We didn’t receive our first beverage until after our appetizer. Our server didn’t check if we wanted another drink for the duration of the meal... which we did. By the time she came back we asked for our bill because we were fed up with the service. It was 6:30pm on a Saturday night and she came back to the table with food on her face. Not sure why a server would take a break during a dinner rush.
Without a doubt my favourite restaurants in the city! I recommend this first to anyone! Love it here!
The food was cold, bland and dry. We ordered a variety of 6 tacos, only 2 were flavourful.
Rather disappointing. We’ve been going to Anejo for years, and had always enjoyed it. But, our last 3 visits have been awful. Their prices have gone up and quality has gone down.
For what you receive I believe that it is highly overpriced. I think $14 for a shot of tequila is exceedingly steep. That seems to be one of the lower-end ones. I don't believe that it would cost $120 is for a bottle of tequila like the ones we had. The food was decent but the waitress was not very knowledgeable. She had no idea what was homemade in-house or not.
Service was slow and the food was okay. Not a lot of flavour.
Amazing tacos and Guacamole with the best coffee in town!
Lively atmosphere - Traditional Margaritas are very good.
This place has great cocktails and the food is consistently good!
Good food but very expensive. Service wasn't great.
Upscale and creative take on the basic staples of great Mexican cuisine. Large selection of Tequila and Mezcal libations created with flare and imagination. Funky, fun, casual and great people watching. Enjoy and have fun....
Love the tacos and the margaritas! Never a bad time at anejo
Good, but tacos have been better. Drinks were good as usual. Server was new; forgot to check on us a few times, so didn’t go over the top.
Food is good, not overly flavourful but decent. Service is usually sub-par but the margaritas are great!
Have been to this restaurant many times. I feel as though the food and service has gone downhill and probably will not be returning. Half of our order was forgotten about and our food came out cold.
Loved everything about it- the energy, the staff, the food, the decor and the margaritas! We will definitely be back!
Great food, get the guacamole!! It’s made table side and is delicious. We tried the flight of tacos (one of each) and they were good - favourites were pork and fish. The margaritas were creative and outstanding, I’d highly recommend trying a few off the list but original and ginger were big hits, wait for halfy hour to try them all 😉 Great place, definitely recommend a reso, it’s busy!
It was almost 20 min before anyone came over to take a drink order. Then it was hard to catch a servers attention after that. We were a table of two in the upper area which had big groups at each of the other tables. Out of the 3 servers up there, we were def not priority, in fact we felt ignored and had to get up to go to the server station twice to get someone’s attention to order food. There was part of a pit (I think that’s what it was) in the gaucamole. I love this place but had the worst experience the last time I was there... what should’ve been a one hour dinner turned into almost two and a half :( unfortunately, I’d reconsider before chosing to go again.
Fantastic tacos!! They house-made sauces are incredible as well.
It’s a bit too loud and the tables are too close together but the food is amazing.
Authentic taste of Mexico with the best Tequila in town. Would recommend to anyone who likes a little heat and some time to explore the crafted Tequila cocktails.
The restaurant was extremely noisy. We were put at a table where my chair was nothing more than a stool and was in the aisle, just inches from the person standing behind me - he spent the whole time standing visiting his friends. The service was less than stellar in fact the gentleman 2 tables down who came in after us as served before us. Everything we asked for seemed to take forever, even the simple Tequila menu. I had the lamb shank and it was quite bland and dry and the gravy served with it was not terribly exciting. The only thing I really enjoyed were the vegetables. My partners dish had a lot more taste but for the price the serving was quite small.
If you are going for the Tequila they do have a wonderful selection but the other features set me off from ever going there again or recommending it to anyone
