The food is very tasty but there was definitely not enough of it. As one of our co-diners joked, it was a great meal if you had dinner before arriving. We were heading to a concert after dinner and although we had given ourselves over 1.5 hours, the waiter advised that we would only have time for the 3 course prix fixe menu. However, we were finished and had time to kill before making the concert, so could have easily done the 5 course, although the waiter indicated that the courses were smaller with the 5 course - hard to imagine!!
the wine pairing is very well done; service was excellent; the lamb was incredible!
Wonderful flavours in a tasting menu.
Love the food at Anew Table. The prettiest plating in the city! Service is friendly and informative. Chef is excellent!! Should have taken pictures of each course - works of art.
Did I mention the food was terrific!
Second or third time I've been -- they have unique approach. Everything is prix fixe menu, choosing either 3 or 5 courses, and offered with a wine pairing if you wish. The food is excellent and I highly recommend the wine pairing -- well thought out.
Absolutely delicious. The chef combines ingredients that are full of flair but not weird combinations like some places that are trying too hard to be out there. Fabulous for foodies and regular appetites as well. Highly recommend
The food was absolutely delicious! Every item was made with attention to detail. The flavours were amazing. The agnolotti with mushrooms was exquisite. The lamb was the best in Calgary. There’s a reason why the food critic rated this restaurant 9.5/10. The poached pear desert was spectacular.
We really enjoyed our ladies dinner out here! Not very loud so a great place to have conversations and the food and wine pairings were delicious! Thank you!
As usually outstanding food but service a bit too long.
Creative and inspiring food and wine
Food was very very good. We chose the 5 course option. If I have a criticism about the food it would just be that there was too much of it. By the time I got to the 3rd course I decided to not eat all of what was presented so that I would be able to eat some of the remaining courses. A ⅔ portion of each course would have still been plenty. Service was great. My only real complaint is that there was no champagne or sparkling wine available. We were celebrating our anniversary and I was quite disappointed. I also heard another table ask for champagne or sparkling wine as well so hopefully they will have some in stock next time.
We enjoyed the five course dinner with paired wine. We agreed it was the best restaurant meal we have had this year. It is pricey but given the quality, it was worth it for special occasion dining. The service was a bit rushed (server seemed a bit distracted and flustered) for the caliber of the restaurant but his was also pleasant and knowledgeable. We’ll definitely go back!
Very good food. Tough for everyday eating as it is a tasting menu of 3 or 5 courses so more of a special occasion/date night restaurant. Wine list is quite under whelming given that they have wine pairing with the meal. Service is okay. Certainly understaffed only having one server and he will let you know that as well.
Anew Table is exquisite! The menu changes all the time, the quality never changes! One of the Best Must eat places in Calgary.
Excellent food. Tasting menu has 2 options: 3 course or 5 course. Menu always changing. Great wine pairing.
A pricier place, but the food is really good! I just think for what they charge for the wine pairing, they could give full glasses of wine.
Excellent food. Great ambiance for a date night with my husband. No complaints. We will certainly come back.
Over the years since it opened, ANew Table become our restaurant of choice particularly for celebrations. As usual, the food was wonderful and the service was excellent. Our out-of-town guests who had never been there before raved about it and commented how much more expensive the meal would have been in the UK. We wish the restaurant continued success - but not too much so we can't get a reservation when we want one.
We live in Vancouver, this is a must dine spot when we are in Calgary. Amazing 5 course (or3) menu with seasonal fresh ingredients prepared in a creative French style. Amazing wine list too (and pairing if you wish). Fantastic!
After eating here before and being very impressed with the food, my most recent trip where I took my parents for a special occasion, didn’t live up to prior visits. Don’t get me wrong, the food was still exceptional for the most part. The desert was definitely not a hit with anyone at the table. Candied beets in a desert seemed like the chef being pretentious but we were all willing to give it a shot and no one cared much for it. Can’t please everybody all the time. As one course of a 3 or 5 course meal though, with your other option being a cheese plate, I would have hoped for better. Next time I’m thinking of visiting, I’ll definitely look over the menu a lot closer before just assuming anything they make will be fantastic.
The menu is always fun and very inventive. The wine pairings are stellar and the wait staff are very knowledgeable when describing them. Highly recommend this restaurant! Have told everyone I know to check it out and many have become repeat diners.
My favourite restaurant to educate one's palate! Outstanding tasting menu with wines that pair exquisitely with each dish. Thank you for another wonderful experience. I wish your restaurant continued success - well deserved!
Food was excellently prepared and beautifully plated. Some components of the dishes were slightly too salty but we were very impressed nonetheless. Delightful and will be returning to dine again.
Great restaurant. Only second time coming here but everything was perfect.
Food is spectacular! Farm to table at its best. Fresh, delicious and gluten free.
Everything was fabulous until the reader rolled his eyes when we need to change because we paid cash that just made the whole experience terrible and we can see a way to do that in front of us so rude
The atmosphere and the service was phenomenal! The flavours in the food were indescribable and fantastic. It was the best evening.
We never felt rushed during our meal at anytime and they were able to accommodate food allergies and sensitivities.
Exceptional food and above average service. It’s easy to see why this place is rated among the top ten restaurants in the city. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
The food was devine and the service was impeccable. Our waiter went above and beyond ensuring we had an excellent experience. He accommodated a special need we had with grace and humour.
A great culinary adventure. Both of us ordered the three-course option and shared each dish so we managed to try almost all of the five courses.
From the moment we walked though the door and smelt the amazing aromas we had a good feeling we were in for a treat. Service was prompt without being overwhelming and our server did a great job of explaining the menu. We knew it was a set menu ahead of time but were a little concerned that the food may not be what we wanted. We had nothing to fear as although it is Prix Fixe there are still decent choices to make. I don’t think it would matter though what you chose. Everything we ordered was spectacular. Well presented and very tasty.
Overall I have to say this is probably the best food I’ve tasted in Calgary since Whitehall shut down. This certainly a place we’ll return to.
Small Restaurant, most of our dinner was amazing. Beautiful presentations with all three courses, All of our (four of us) appetizers were excellent, for three of us the main course was much too salty (cod) and dessert was delicious.
The service was not what we expected for a small intimate place. Upon arriving, we let the server know that we were going to a show after dinner, either he was not listening or didn't care, for it was another 35 minutes before we placed our order - we felt totally ignored. Once we reminded him of our timing , he was efficient but far from gracious.
Would I go back? Probably not - bad service out trumps great food.
This is one of the best restaurants in Calgary and a far-too-well-kept secret, nestled as it is in the Garrison Woods shopping area. It's a small place and the customer is always first. As the meals are prix-fixe, the server will check to make sure the dishes suit the customers' tastes, and the chef will modify when necessary. Our group of six, most of whom had at least one request for change, were all catered to and happy with their meals. The chef clearly loves to mix many flavours, sometimes in unexpected ways and is a master at it. We had some really interesting dishes - the onion soup was superb. There are two choices for dinner: three courses or five, and I always order the five and then can't finish. The servings are supposed to be small but they aren't small enough for me. Those who chose the three course menu got larger portions and were well satisfied. There are wine pairings offered, and if you have the cash, go for it. Sometimes they are absolutely outstanding. The service is also outstanding.
Did the 5 course with wine pairing, excellent!! Server was knowledgeable and
Intuitive. phone ahead to see the days menu. Not a lot of variety, however what is offered will be excellent.
We will go back
Food was great, wine was awesome and the service top notch
The food was awesome, as usual. The chef does amazing things with potatoes. I highly recommend getting the wine pairings. They’re always spot on. Overall, it was a very enjoyable way to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The 5 course menu with wine pairings is a great value for the price.
A fantastic place if you are open to be surprised and appreciate chef's expression. You do not get to chose what to eat here, and that is exactly why it is so great!
Also very professional staff.
Recently moved the the Marda area. Been to many many of the local hot spots in the past 2 months.
The experience at Anew was the best experience I have had in Calgary. From the first moments at the table to the expert staff recommendation for wine it was simply excellent. We had a 3 course tasting menu. We each had something different to try a the tastes of each. The beet salad and the lamb crochets first was really outstanding. The mains were the fish for my friend and the lamb for me. Both were very very good and the portion size was much larger than expected.
There was a brownie desert with a ginger sauce that was simply one of the better chocolate deserts I have ever had.
Anew is a great neighborhood gem but also a destination restaurant for anyone in the city. The fact that it only offers a tasting menu may put some people off. However the 3 course gives you a choice of something of the daily changing menu. I strongly recommend giving this place a try. You will be back.
Service was amazing. Good was great, some dishes boardered too salty.
But the creativity of the menu is so refreashing.
This restaurant definitely has wow factor.
