   Perhaps the third rendition of this restaurant and what a dramatic disappointment in all senses: the new decor lost the original Nordic chic, the service is sugary but lacks a professional delicacy to it, and the menu - definitely miss the a la carte. The new 5 and 7 course are ordinary, and if you picked the 5 course menu, the server made multiple attempts to up-sell caviar or lobster or something else, pretty distasteful after a while. The food itself failed to wow compared to other Michelin star restaurants here in NY or around the world. No specific dish stood out, not the design nor the flavor. $600 lesson for two.

   One of the most beautiful and delicious dining experiences we have ever had. The service was impeccable. The sommelier was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, wine parings were perfect. And the food…I don’t have the words to do it justice. Every single dish was gorgeous to look at and tasted heavenly.

   It’s hard to image ne better service; not over bearing, condescending just honest to goodness enthusiasm for the food and drink. The food: of course it was great, all of it. The wine pairing is a must. Price will set you back, it may not be everyday dining but going is what makes it a special occasion.

   Waiter was the kindest, loveliest and most professional waiter I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Food was delish. Lunch Prixe Fixe is a good value. It was my friend’s birthday and they brought us an extra dessert with a candle in it.

    THE BEST DINING EXPERIENCE, EVER! So very professional, from the time we arrived until we departed. The tasting menu was a real delight! And “The Bird’s Nest” dessert was amazing! The wine selections, with the guidance of James, were spectacular. Exactly what we expected!

    We did the Chef’s tasting with wine pairing and extra caviar. Many of the dishes had similar tastes and textures and it was not very exciting. Didn’t enjoy the desserts either Was expecting more from a 2 star Michelin. Very kind and attentive staff though. Would skip this in favor of Stone Barns, which is exceptional

    We ate at the bar and maybe didn’t get to experience the restaurant at its strongest. Ordered two appetizers and two entrees. Meatballs and spetzl - both very tasty but not at all value for money. On the other hand we also didn’t feel the special 2 Michelin star atmosphere or service. Wouldn’t recommend eating at the bar. Not even complementary bread and waiter offered white truffle shavings on pretty unsophisticated dishes for $100 per person - that’s just silly.

    Incredible staff from sommelier to waiters to managers to busboys to reception area with young Swedish American lady. The tasting menu of 7 dishes could not have been better and champagne was excellent.

    Left mid dinner. The dishes were not good at all. Coming after Masa, Per Se, Le Bernardin or Daniel…. It was really Disappointing. We tasted the first three courses, we didn’t ate we just tasted, and the three of them were really horrible. I’m sorry for the chef, but that’s not a two Michelin stars dishes. We ask for the check before the next courses, the service was horrible as well. I’m not sure how you train your servers, specially the blonde server slightly chubby that he was pouring our champagne. He was very arrogant and totally uninterested in the fact that we didn’t like the food. Three times his reply was “hmmm interesting”…. including when I asked to have my champagne served from flutes and not from regular wine glasses. I usually drink my Dom Perignon P2 from regular wine glasses so it could open the flavour better, however when I told him that I want flutes his reply was “ Interesting, these are the best glasses that we have for champagne but if you want we can get your flutes”…. Well I did ask for flute so it means that I really want without hearing your sarcastic comment. Needless to say we paid the bill, we didn’t enjoy absolutely anything, yes we had one comp on one menu, as the manager thought that he made us a huge favor,by comping one menu !!! It was one of the worst experience that we ever encountered in New York. We left just because it was my husband birthday and it was already a ruined night, and we made the reservation at 10:30 at NusRet, So we could recover from that bad experience. We actually had an amazing dinner at NusRet afterwards. Biggest mistake to book aquavit . Everything was horrible from the service to the food. We will definitely never come back

    I have eaten at Aquavit on several occasions over the years and have always found the quality, service, and ambiance exceptional. The aquavit selection is outstanding (my favorite being cucumber)! I know that I will continue to return to this quiet, delightful restaurant for how ever long it is there.

    This was not my first meal at Aquavit and will not be my last. With Aquavit being as highly ranked as it is, the restaurant is unmatched – creating of the most innovative and special dishes in the world right now thanks to Emma Bengtsson and her incredible team. By elevating Scandinavian staples like herring, venison, and rye breads – not to mention the many exciting flavor options of Aquavit spirits – and finding the best domestic ingredients like cheeses from Jasper hill and blueberries from New Jersey, they create an experience, a meal memorable for years to come. I enjoyed the herring, duck, and Arctic bird’s nest. Presentation on each dish was meticulous, and with every bite I found something new to appreciate. All these dishes are must-haves, but the Arctic bird’s nest is truly on a level of it’s own. With such an intricate preparation, this sweet, beautiful dessert should be tasted by each of Aquavit’s guests. The decor of the restaurant is approachable, comfortable, and put my party and myself at ease as soon as we entered the space. The coordination of the servers matched with the swift kitchen staff was a fascinating thing to watch over dinner. With a wall of glass looking into the kitchen, it is as if one watches a culinary dance while they eat. The transparency of the dining room and kitchen not only is a point of conversation but a testament to how well this institution functions. What sets this restaurant apart for me personally is the service. Many restaurants can look good on the inside, have great tasting food, and so on. At Aquavit, one is greeted with a warmth and kindness that I have not felt elsewhere at a restaurant of this caliber. No detail goes unnoticed, all staff enjoy talking to their guests, and throughout a meal Aquavit allows for diners to feel as special as the food they are eating. We dined here for a celebration – but every meal at Aquavit is a celebration of fantastic service, wonderful food, and kind, caring people.

    Magnificent cuisine. Every dish in the 7 course Chef Diner was outstanding. This is a pricey restaurant ($200 up a person w/o drinks) but you get every dollar worth of cuisine. The wine list is extensive, complete and paired up to the menu. The ambience is cold and detached !

    hard to rate a beautiful 2 star michelin restaurant during pandemic. service was extraordinary ...server Nora amazing. chef emma stopped by at the ens of the meal which was lovely. we didn’t give charming sommelier much to do, but he was always ready to help. each course plating was more beautiful and creative, tasty, and perfect than the last and very hard to rate value ...as it is not easy to rate taste and beauty in a monetarily....if one can afford it, it is certainly great value.

    The sommelier was very helpful in picking two half bottles - both ended up better than expected. The food was superb. Covid had discourage us from going to fine restaurants. The meal reminded us that fine dining in NYC is a real draw to the city.
