In February of 1992 Artu opened its doors to the world, starting with outstanding sandwiches and mouth watering roasted meats, we continued to evolve and grow. Food was ok, app of meat and cheese plate was good. The stuffed zucchini flowers were heavily deep fried in batter and greasy. The $32 short rib ravioli was 3 large raviolis and some mushrooms. The sausage and broccoli pasta was tasty, the carbonara was cold. Service and drinks were good. Atmosphere was friendly and lively.

Just a delightful experience at a family owned & managed business in the authentic Italian tradition that represents the best of the North End. Old school hospitality and accountability. The food is always perfectly prepared. Just had the calamari & tortellini again. They never disappoint. For over thirty years I can count on the fact that if I recommend the ristorante to a friend or acquaintance that they shall always express their satisfaction & gratitude. The bar offers full service & the convergence of old & young customers who merge into a great time for all. Plus the owner & her family are always present to both greet & listen. It’s just a cannot miss experience if your looking for a real North End experience.

Had a very simple dish last night. Pasta and sauce. The pasta was homemade and you can absolutely taste the difference! The red sauce was amazing sweet but not overbearing.

Fun spot & yummy Italian food! The menu offers great appetizers pasta dishes and entrees. Highly recommend the meatballs with gnocchi. Great location in the heart of the North End. Service was slow, but understandable given how busy it was. The noice level is very loud and the atmosphere was lively.

We used to frequent Artu on Charles and loved it. This venue--food not nearly as good, chicken looked like some prepackaged product, not pounded by the kitchen staff. Never offered grated cheese or pepper--had to borrow from next table. Noise level--beyond ridiculous!!!

Been there 3 times in the last 7 yrs, from Mississippi and the Lasagna is the best I have ever had. I was in Little Italy in New York last week and the Lasagna there was good, but not Artu great!

Octopus appetizer was delicious. Puttanesca sauce was good but carbonara was a salty broth, not the kind of carbonara that we are familiar with, but maybe there are variations. Pasta (penne, spaghetti, fettuccine) felt like I could open a box and get the same quality. The service was good. Overall, we felt underwhelmed as we were looking forward to really great pasta dishes.

Best thing was a short rib ravioli dish. Not great but some good flavor in a somewhat watery sauce. The pasta Artu, tortelloni that we figured was their signature dish, was a mess of cream on pasta. Caesar salad was fine, nothing exciting. DItto broccoli rabe. Lobster arancini was also fine but I couldn’t taste lobster and it could have been anything. When the server saw we had barely touched the pasta Artu she asked if we wanted a box, and I held back from saying, “I couldn’t eat it fresh, I can’t imagine eating it a day old.”

Food and service was very disappointing. No one finished their entree, everyone had traditional Italian, 1 person got the steak. It’s easy to walk in or get a reservation for a reason. I’d try another Italian spot nearby. I’m sure ARTU was a nice restaurant years ago but it no longer is and the “5-Star” reviews are probably from a long time ago.

Artu had very attentive service but also had run of the mill, not very flavorful dishes. I can’t say I recommend over other restaurants in the North End. Also, prices have gone up compared to the menu on Open Table.

All in all, good experience. Little disappointed that we were there to celebrate a birthday and even though we’d noted that when booking the reservation, no-one even said, Happy Birthday, or thank you for choosing Artu to celebrate.

Why this restaurant wasn’t more crowded was a mystery! The food was outstanding. (we had an appetizer, primo’s and segundo’s. All delicious. Service was exceptional.

We had a birthday celebration so we had a good time, regardless. The apps were a solid good but the entrees were meh, really not at the value of elevated prices-which I understand per food prices in general. But if you have midrange prices like 28-32 dollars per enter it should be good to great. The restaurant is looking tired, needs a facelift. We were in the back- no ambiance and not so pretty. The server was pleasant, knowledgable and responsive. Next time I'll spend a little more for one the better restaurants in the North End.

Good, dependable offerings at reasonable prices. Only issue on this visit was that we had an early reservation and for the first half of the meal the air-conditioning wasn't turned on so it was over warm in the restaurant. Once the air conditioning was turned on it was comfortable

Nothing special. Room very noisy, disappointing in the North End. Path into restaurant crowded, had to clear the way thru the bar. Food just OK. Server was very good. Not inclined to recommend or return.

Wen went for lunch and it was totally empty. Staff was lovely. Good very good but a few things were uneven. It’s definitely an evening option - lunch doesn’t seem like a sweet spot. But the food was good and they were lovely.

The food quality was way off. The mussels were so bad they actually smelled as if they had spoiled and that was in too different dishes. The only good part was the wonderful service we received.

The food was quite good and the service was fine. There is no sound absorption or table cloths or anything in the restaurant. It was not the restaurant's fault, but the sound was unbearable Saturday night. We had two uncomfortably loud tables in the same room with us and we could not visit with the friends at our table.

Don’t order the carbonara- it is different than what you’d typically get. Instead of a yummy creamy sauce with peas etc, this version is basically a thin buttery sauce over the pasta and fried bits of pancetta. It’s pretty disappointing. Everyone else liked their meals and the service was very good.
