Asere is in “ la Placita” a lively area with many bars and music . The food at Asere was not Cuban authentic nor Puerto Rican . Risotto, Mac & cheese???? Really? Our server and service left a lot to be desired . Very disappointed. Will not be returning.

Soooo good! I stumbled on this place when looking on open table. Looked interesting so we gave it a shot. How lucky were we?!? We had ceviche which was insane and the tuna tartar with the homemade chips just has good. Highly recommend!

Had made a reservation for 2 and I asked if I could sit somewhere specific and the hostess lied about why we couldn’t sit there. She claimed there was another reservation for 7 for that spot, but then I noticed after we sat down, she allowed 3 other people to sit there.

We went with our 4 year old and enjoyed it tremendously. The Ceviche was excellent as well as the Churrasca steak and the special lobster risotto. The mojitos were good but could use more ice. Overall highly recommend it.

Fue nuestra noche de San valentine , comida deliciosa, ame la ropa vieja, la mesera fue súper atenta el ambiente muy acogedor y la iluminación perfecta para la ocasión y al salir de allí puedes darte una bailadita en la placita. Me encanto. Regreso xq no pude ver el segundo nivel xq estaba cerrado fui un miércoles y abre de jueves en adelante. Lo recomiendo

Asere was an overall okay experience! Waitress was great! We were a group of 10 girls… I felt like it was overwhelming for the restaurant… Our food was very delayed. Ambiance was great, in a very popular location! Of all the girls I would say half of us enjoyed our food. The drinks were great and strong. Overall for the price of the food I think it was worth it, but if you’re looking for great food I would maybe look somewhere else. If you’re looking for a place close to the bars and inexpensive with a vibe this is your place

We went here our last night in Puerto Rico. Best mojito we had the entire trip, the tuna appetizer with malanga chips was delicious, flavorful, fresh and artistically presented. The cod was recommended by the guest eating at the next table as “the best cod he had ever eaten”. He was absolutely right. The combination of ingredients and flavor was out of this world. And I could spend hours talking about the coconut flan for dessert! Don’t miss this gem!

We had an AMAZING dinner here. Looks off the beaten path but the food was outstanding. Great ambiance. Excellent service. Highly recommend the tuna tartar appetizer and the Cod dinner was actually one of the best I have ever had. Wife had the churrosco steak and was phenomenal. Not joking this is a must go to restaurant if in San Juan! Been to restaurants all over the world. Don’t miss this one.

Parece que están under staffed. El servicio fie super lento con algunas meseras excelentes y algunos meseros bastante mal. Me tuve que para en tres ocaciones a buscar un mesero para que me ayudaran. Al final pensaba dar propina limitada pero para mi sorpresa ya estaba incluida al 20%, lo cual no era para nada adecuado. Quizas ese es parte del problema. No tienen que hacer buen trabajo y como quiera reciben buena propina. En fin, una pena. Habían muchos turistas y me da vergüenza que ese nivel de mal servicio fue el que vieron.

This restaurant is definitely a must if you are or plan to be around this area. The food was great and the environment inside was spectacular. It was my first time trying their mofongo with churrasco and I would get it again and again once I make my way there in the future. Our waitress was sensational and friendly.

Very good meal. Menu online doesn’t match real menu and we went for the Ropa Vieja. Upon asking our server said yes, we absolutely have it even though not on the menu. Large portions and good drinks. Love music was loud but good. Only negative was our server although only serving a couple small tables was very inattentive, by the time we were asked if we’d like another drink we’d already eaten our appetizer and main course which were spread out nicely over our duration of dining.

Everything tasted delicious! Cubano spring rolls yum, the drinks were really good too thankfully since for $12 they were rather small and lots of ice. The server was nice and helpful, but truly what bothered us was the extremely loud dog fussing and yapping at the table next to us and almost even bit the server every time he came near, I believe the server would have been more attentive if not for this which I understand. The vegetable risotto was $16 and tasted delicious, would have liked a little more wow factor to the presentation since the portion was not very large and of course does not include a side. But the soy sauce used throughout YES PLEASE! I love animals but this was not it, poor dog and my poor ears. I usually don’t mind loud environments (it’s a Saturday night I get it) but it was too much and the people at the table did not even care. Maybe friends of the owner (merely speculation). All in all 8/10 and will definitely come back to try more of this cuisine.

This is my 2nd time at this restaurant for business meetings. It has delicious food and the Manager - Anibal - was very nice. Staff were attentive and the ambiance was really nice. I would continue to come dine here, It is close to all the action you would want in Placita Santurce.

Well the menu online isn’t the same at the restaurant. The appetizers are ok. The guava and cheese balls have no guava. Therefore making them cheese balls. The empanadas bring onions and the menu is misleading. The ceviche was ok. The fried pork again just ok. For entrees the skirt steak was dry and took well over 35min. The congri rice had more condiments than rice making it overpowering. The salad was sweet. I just wanted a simple salad. Ropa vieja was the only good dish. Overall I wouldn’t recommend. We also asked if juices are fresh waitress stated “yes” then juices tasted like canned juices.

Was really looking forward to this meal. The on line menu looked amazing. Unfortunately it was the “pre-pandemic” menu. The appetizers were delicious. Loved the empanadillas and pork belly tacos. The main course of ropa vieja was ok. A bit too much cumin for me. Not enough red pepper. The ceviche was just ok too. Dessert was very good. Really enjoyed the Tres Leche and delicious cappuccino. The waitress was awesome. Very sweet, accommodating and attentive. The restaurant is in La Plácita, so it’s a lively atmosphere and fun to walk around after and have a drink and perhaps dance.

Perhaps this place was a great restaurant before, but it was a disappointment. The food was mediocre and the images on Open Table are a bit deceiving because the restaurant is quite rundown inside. Will not be returning… sorry, but had to be honest.
