Contemporary American
Austin's Chophouse, in Melbourne, crafts an array of classic American steakhouse-style dishes in its friendly and relaxing restaurant. The shrimp gratin with roasted shallot garlic butter, roasted tomatoes, limoncello, parmesan and toast points and the heart of palm salad with bacon dust and mustard vinaigrette make superb starters. Some of Austin's Chophouse's specialty entrées include the tender and juicy 6oz. prime sirloin or the 16oz. bone-in ribeye, both available with caramelized onions and mushrooms, the poached salmon with dill caper remoulade and the sumptuous chicken pot pie. Sandwiches, like the monte cristo made with ham, cheese and blackberry compote in a crispy egg-batter and the fried green tomato BLT made with candied bacon and herbed goat cheese, are also popular with diners.Austin's Chophouse also has an excellent Sunday brunch service, during which guests can enjoy even more comforting dishes and refreshing beverages.

I was nervous after reading some reviews but the food was excellent and visually appealing. Starting with the seared Ahi and finishing with the grilled salmon, everything was delicious. This was an overall good experience and I would recommend Austin's to friends.

It is not a place for young children especially serving food . That was an automatic turn off. I pay alot for food and do not expect to see children serving anything and walking in and out of the kitchen . Kids ahould not even be in a restaurant like that. Unprofessional and ruined the ambiance. Will not go back.

I have eaten here a number of times before so I was anticipation a good meal. What I got was the worst meal (not edible) in a long time. I ordered the short ribs which has been a favorite there. My dinner came out and the short ribs were dry to the bone. You could not cut them with a steak knife. I sent them back and they said they would bring another. While I waited I told my wife to eat her dinner. She had ordered the lamb chops which were over cooked and mashed potatoes which were cold. As she was finishing her meal they brought my replacement. They were still tough and had a large slab of fat and were again inedible. I did not want to try for a third time and my wife was already done. The waitress was apologetic and offered free desserts which were very good. In the past the wine list had been quite extensive. It appears they have sold all the lower price wines and had not restocked them. The lowest price bottle of chardonnay was $90.00 and they did not have any wine by the glass. The most disappointing thing was as a repeat customer no manager ever visited the table even though they were not overly busy. The lounge side only had one table taken and they appeared to be friends of the band. Whether it was just a bad night or a sign of the beginning of the end, time will tell.

Great service. Food was very salty. Steaks were very tender. Would have been much better if the food didn't have so much added salt.

Tining on service was off - for example bread was delivered long after salads. Stay seemed confused. Since this is a new resturant seemed to be start up jitters. Excellent food, excellent bar. Overall we all give it a try once they mature a little bit.

This was not our first visit to Austin's but it was truly worth writing about. We had a remarkable evening with friends, great food, superior service and of course great wines. Yes wines, plural… from the beginning to the end we had a great meal and wonderful time. I had short ribs that fell off the bone and my wife had the salmon. Both were amazing and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a dish that is well prepared, amazingly delicious and extremely affordable. The price might have been the best thing. A gem and surprise in small town Viera. Awesome rhymes with Austin. We love this place.

The steak was excellent. Overall the food was good but prices were higher than Disney's. Portion size was barely adequate. Perfect for dining in San Francisco, Florida not so much. Overall, the meal prices are just too high for a restaurant outside a mall.

We went on a Friday night to check Austins out after hearing some comments from neighbors and friends. It appears that those issues were growing pains because we had a wonderful meal with excellent service. I have always held good service can elevate the meal and server, Ben, did that. My wife had the veal chop and I had the 10 ounce filet and both were prepared as requested, medium rare for her and medium well for me. My filet was a quality piece of meat that was complimented by a side of béarnaise. We both starting with salads and ended with desserts from the dessert cart. My wife had one of the cakes and I opted for the raspberry Chambord crème brulee. There are still a few small issues to work out but the management seems to be staying on top of things and are on the floor checking with the diners. Some have said the restaurant is a bit pricey. Our bill for two salads, upper level entrees, dessert and a bottle of wine was $177 which is in line with other quality restaurant where go to dine versus just eat.

My husband was in the mood for a serious steak so we decided to try Austin's Chophouse. As soon as we were greeted & seated our waiter Max brought over a basket of warm bread. Bread is very important to my husband & he loved the bread, off to a great start. I ordered Lamb Chops. Max said great choice, the best he's ever had. They were perfect! Meaty & delicious, I think I'll have to agree with Max, the Best! I ordered the baked potato, huge, & the wilted spinach, it too delicious! My husband had the bone in rib eye & said it was Fantastic! As were the potatoes. Our waiter kept the bread basket filled, keeping my husband very happy. The service was outstanding. So was dinner. We will return!

We were excited about trying this restaurant as there are not many high end restaurants in this area. We had a reservation and had to wait for our table. The salad course arrived before the wine selection. The small filet was requested to be prepared Pittsburgh style, arrived with this enormous pat of butter on top.... terrible. The grouper was described on the menu as being complimented with leeks, fingerling potatoes instead. The mushroom/onion side dish would better defined as greasy onions with a couple mushrooms. The prices on the menu are comparable with some very well known steak restaurants, however the ambiance, meal and service do not justify same.

My husband and I were excited to try out Austin's Chop House. Having a high end steak house so close to home sounded great! We were early for our reservation so we went into the lounge for drinks and appetizers. It was a Saturday evening so we were expecting to have live piano music, there was none. The atmosphere would have been great except for the big screen Tv's lining the walls. The food was Luke warm when we got it and the staff has little knowledge of the drink menu let alone the food menu. Plates were coming to the tables with food going down the side of them. We finished up in the lounge and went to our table for dinner. The dining room was really loud. There are too many tables. It was hard to have nice diner conversation. We ordered wine which was good. I will say the steak was cooked to perfection and tasted great. The rest of the meal wasn't so good. I ordered asparagus and it was cold, the mashed potatoes lacked seasoning. The fruit and cheese board was great, as well as the salad. Desert was not anything special. we have had the same things and enjoyed them more elsewhere. I am hopeful that with time they may work out the kinks, but I am not willing to recommend my friends and family to spend $200.00 plus to have a mediocre at best dinner out.

We ordered the Ribeyes. One was supposed to be Medium but it came out more rare. It was so hard to cut through. There were also 4 of us at dinner but they only bring three small little loaves of bread like a dinner roll size. They weren't meant to be shared. Makes no sense since the couple next to us received 3 pieces for 2 people. The waiter was very arrogant. He wasn't friendly. We would have to ask other waiters walking by if we could have refills on our drinks. For the amount of the meal I could have received a better meal and half the price if I went to Outback or Longhorns.

The glass size for mixed drinks was ridiculous. Never have we been served a drink in such a laughably sized glass. Our waiter was totally disorganized, did not know the menu and lacked training in general. There were not enough menus to go around. The food was very ordinary and the menu options did not match those as advertised on-line. The "pommes fritas" were a joke - MacDonalds does better, without the fancy name.
