Ayden Kitchen & Bar
Expensive, but worth it. Great service with recommendations for cocktails. Food was excellent
Really nice food, very friendly and outstanding service. We had a great dinner!! We’d definitely come back. The only minor downside would be that the vegetarian options are somewhat limited if we wanted to try something new the next time(s). But overall we really loved it!!
This was our first time there, everything was wonderful just thought the prices were high compared to portion size. We had to order a fair bit of food to ensure everyone left full. Quality, service and atmosphere made for an excellent experience.
I have enjoyed Ayden in the past and I always enjoy the atmosphere, drinks and above average service. However, the food is not consistently good and nothing particularly unique or tasty. We had Thai wings that were underdone and litterly bloody which set me off for the rest of the meal. (Bloodiness was mentioned to waiter and I understand ayden does their wings like that, but still gross). We also had the Cornish Hens which were over cooked and dry. There is hardly a vegetable available on the menu let alone included with an approximately 35$ Large plate. We also had the pork dish which was ok and the mushroom on toast(cool by the time it arrived) which was also mediocre. I feel Ayden no longer has the quality it used to and far too expensive prices. I have no problem spending money for a good meal, but Ayden does not compare to far better restaurants. I left feeling gross from too much meat and nothing else. (And I love meat!)
I would like to start by I was told this place was a must try ... I am not sure how anyone could ever say this about Ayden. This was the most over priced terrible tasting food I have had in my life. and drinks are outrageously priced.
Yes the staff was nice and tried to accommodate . But your bang for buck and what you get is terrible you should be ashamed to take peoples money for what you put on a plate . Food was burnt your deep fryer grease was bad and old ... so gross.
I will never step foot in this restaurant again , I hope your other sister restaurants are not the same .. sticks and stones , avenue , little grouse, prairie feast.
Thanks Sam 306-519-9272 if youèd like a more in depth chat .
The atmosphere was nice, low lighting and pretty decor. The food was very good but a bit expensive (even the drinks were jacked up) Eating for 2 felt a bit squished so they should come up with a better seating arrangement.
Amazing experience. Great food and wonderful service!
Entire experience was exceptional
My steak was way under cooked. I ate about half of it. Waitress took notice and actually had it removed from our bill. So at least that was a plus. Only reason they aren't getting a 1 star.
My husband and I advised our server that we couldn’t have any dairy due to an allergy. Our appetizer platter came with sour cream and the burger I ordered, without cheese, came with cheese on it. When I asked for a replacement I was told that the chef would “just take the cheese off the one they made me, if that’s okay?”...
To make up for the cheese mix up, we were offered a free dessert. Great! Our server came back 5 minutes later to tell us all their desserts have butter so they couldn’t make us anything.
Bill came, full price meals and drinks. Not a $150 meal IMO, which is too bad since Ayden used to be one of my favourite restaurants.
The fries and arugula salad 100% saved the meal!
I’ve ate there many times and it’s never disappointed. This time the service was great, but the steak was very mediocre, especially compared to previous versions I’ve had there before. The others I was with also had the steak and were disappointed with the cut and flavour.
Interesting cocktails, yummy-compact menu, bold flavours. Sitting at the bar watching the mixology is great fun. A game changer for Saskatchewan. Raised the bar across the province.
Staff are pros, and really friendly. No surprise, it’s Saskatoon!
This is my favorite place to go out for date night with my husband. We are always treated exceptionally and our food experience is second to none. I tell anyone that is travelling through Saskatoon that is a must stop to eat while you are here.
Fantastic meals, especially the Pickerel fish dish! Waitress was SO good with our group as one person had a lactose-intolerant allergy and they were very accommodating.
Waitress was very attentive all throughout the meal for the 7 of us.
Highly recommend restaurant!
Amazing food, great sommelier. Server was very confused but apologetic: got part of every element wrong, from drinks to starters to mains. To be fair, the bill was discounted to compensate. We’ll be back, nevertheless.
Best steak I have ever had in a restaurant.
Beet appetizer was amazing.
Shrimp appetizer was very greasy.
Overall great experience. Will go back.
Everything was very good! It is a bit pricy! If budget conscious this may not be stop for you!
Food was good! Martinis very good!
Ayden is one of my favourite restaurants. I will continue to dine here as the quality of the food and service is exceptional.
Seriously has gone down hill with respect to food flavor and quality. We have been to Aiden to eat since it’s inception and to date; is no where close.
There is some serious weakness in the kitchen and I feel that weakness needs to be addressed.
Enjoyed the meal and we had great service. I did think that the meal was a little skimpy for the price, though. As small appetite ladies, we were satisfied, but I don’t think my husband would’ve been.
Food was excellent. The service was amazing. Will definitely be back.
Food was well done. We had 3 or 4 servers all helping us but weren't communicating between each other. Everything was fairly smooth except for being asked multiple times if we needed drinks etc.
First time there. Enjoyed the whole experience. Will come again
There were pluses and minuses. Service was great! Staff was super friending and efficient. Everything you would expect and more. Food was ghastly. Shrimp were breaded and deep fried to death, very greasy. Same was true of the soft shelled crab - Over done and greasy. Other items were bland by and large. The Mushrooms on toast for example were entirely tasteless and the toast was over soaked in sauce. so it was like mushrooms on wet pudding. That being said we saw other items that seemed to look better than our selections but I have no idea about the flavors. There seemed to be no quality control coming from the kitchen. Drinks were very nice, imaginative and well done! I could recommend going for a drink at the bar, but the food was sub-standard. We will not be back to this or any of the sister restaurants.
After spending over $200 I was left hungry and disappointed. Although they attempted to rectify with a complimentary dessert I will definitely not be going back any time soon.
Was a special night for valentines. The food was very high end . Service was great
Enjoyable. The service staff were very attentive, a bit pushy when it came to selling drinks and food courses, but lacking when it came to recommending side orders to accompany our main courses. The food was excellent. Good wine list but prices were marked up considerably.
Great service and a nice place overall... but the value is where you lost me. Far too overpriced for what we received. I’m sure a lot of people enjoy this place, but I won’t be back. There’s too many other restaurant options in Saskatoon that offer similar or better quality food at a more reasonable price.
The food and drink selection was absolutely top notch! Exactly what I'd expect from someone who won Top Chef Canada
Overpriced hipster food and an odd selection of cocktails. We made a reservation and arrived to a nearly empty restaurant, but were seated at a tiny two-top pushed against the wall by the bar doorway. My friend asked the hostess for a different table and was told no. Thankfully our waitress was lovely, answered all our questions, made recommendations, and pushed over the empty table beside us so we had more room for plates, water cups, cocktails, candle, drinks menu, cutlery. I ordered the croquette and the steak, my friend ordered the beef shin “scrumpet” and Cornish hen with lentil and fois Gras purée. The food was delicious but overpriced, and the 10 cent wings at the crazy dive bar next door were better. I don’t understand the hype about this place and would not go back.
The first time I was at Ayden's I had the chicken and it was the best chicken. My only complaint is that there is no chicken on your present menu.
Everything was very tasty! Great cocktails. Food was delicious but portions are small considering what you pay. Also, they don't have many good options for salad. (Arugula and balsamic!?!? You can do better...)
This restaurant was amazing. Great service, great food, amazing cocktails. I will definitely come back.
The staff went above and beyond to accomodate our group. Not expected but much appreciated.
Everything was great. Food, service and drinks were excellent.
I’m not typically one to write reviews but this one I feel is necessary. My boyfriend and I went to Ayden tonight for our ninth anniversary celebration. We have been twice before and have lovely meals; we are also huge fans of Sticks and Stones, and Little Grouse on the Prairie. Tonight however was extremely disappointing.
We both ordered the beef belly. My boyfriend is typically a huge fan of red meat and fat, however, this dish was so incredibly fatty he took two bites and couldn’t finish the rest. The plate was really poorly balanced and had nothing to cut the fat from the beef belly and purée. The meat was probably 75% pure fat and 25% tough under seasoned beef. I’m no expert but I’m pretty sure the fat could have been balanced with some acid or heat. There was also zero texture on the plate, except the three delicious chickpeas that happened to make their way.
We then ordered the dessert which was a special tonight of lemon olive oil cake, lemon whip cream, and caramelized almonds. Once again, very underwhelming. The cake tasted granular and bland. Kind of like a lemon loaf that sat out on the counter for a few days then was soaked in olive oil and served. The best part of this plate was the almonds which were far and few between.
The only good parts of our meal was the croquette we had for an appetizer which was amazing, and our drinks. The service was good too.
Spent $150 tonight and feel really ripped off and disappointed. Won’t be visiting here again or recommending to anyone unfortunately.
We waited 1.5 hrs for our main course which is way to long when all we ordered was burgers.
Always have good food and service. Drinks are pricey though!
