The service was good and the ambience was great. This was the first night for the dine-out. We're a bit disappointed with our entree: Crispy Duck Confit, which was a bit dry and overcooked. All the other courses were fine.

We had lovely service. We went to dine out and were pleasantly surprised that their portions for dine out were pleasingly large. Normally my husband leaves dine outs feeling hungry but we were both genuinely stuffed when we left. The food was delicious. The dessert was somewhat underwhelming but the starter and main were absolutely wonderful.

Was there for afternoon tea. Sandwiches were pretty good, the tea was great, but the rest of the food was underwhelming. I’ve been to at least 5-6 other afternoon teas in Vancouver, and foodwise one of the weaker ones. Service and ambiance was great though.

Going in, our expectations for a spectacular meal were high. With our benefiting from discussion with the waiter, they ended up being wildly exceeded, thanks to some home-made raspberry sorbet.

One ended up feeling that we had dined with dear friends.

Service was excellent. We were a little early, but we were shown to our table and made to feel welcome. Seafood was greasy and perfectly cooked. We had some seafood at other restaurants in Vancouver, that must have been frozen and was tasteless. The oysters at Bacchus were so fresh and mouth watering.
We ordered just glasses of wine and this worked v well for us.
I would definitely go again.

The ambiance was wonderful (we sat by the fire). The servers and host were friendly and professional.
Unfortunately the food we ordered was very disappointing. A very expensive Cobb salad consisted of mostly lettuce (iceberg for the most part), a few tomatoes, a few cubes of chicken and a sprinkling of cheese.
The tea and the bread were the highlight of the meal. We have come to Bacchus every December for several years and so we were very surprised at the food quality this year.
Our server, despite his friendliness only returned once to check on us ( I had to ask someone else for more water). When we sat down he seemed eager for us to order from the drink menu despite our saying twice that we only wanted tea (it was only noon). I realize though that perhaps he didn't hear us the first time.
We likely won't be back next year.

I have been this restaurant many times and I used to like atmosphere, food and service. We visited on Boxing Day for the celebration for my best girlfriend’s birthday. I have left the message ahead of time in opentable if they can arrange special dessert but they never returned. When I went there, I asked the front server and he said he can do something but he didn’t tell me details what he can do. After meals, I didn’t order dessert because I expected they would bring her dessert but it never came. Finally I asked front server again and the dessert came. It was just brownie and ice cream with happy birthday message. I know we usually have petite dessert after meal but we didn’t receive it this time.
I received the receipt showed 12.00 for the brownie and ice cream. I was very disappointed why they shouldn’t have talked me what kind of special dessert they can offer. Last year, we went to Hawksworth and they served us lovely dessert with no charge. I didn’t expect no charge and I rather to pay extra cost than just brownie as 12.00.
I may not come back again.

My wife and I have been coming here fore boxing day breakfast for years, mostly for the environment. I always order blueberry pancakes and did again as they have been absolutely fantastic. The pancakes delivered were not blueberry pancakes but instead regular pancakes with a tiny bit of blueberry compote. The pancakes were boring and the amount of compote wasn't enough for even one of the three that I was served. I think I visually expressed a problem with our waiter and if he was good would have picked up on this. However, I wasn't in the mood for describing the issue with my food and I don't think he was interested in hearing it. The waiter brought water half way through our meal. On leaving the restaurant I decided to voice my opinion to the host and a waitress overheard me and said the kitchen ran out of blueberries and couldn't properly make them. Therefore, the restaurant knew I was ordering something they couldn't deliver and didn't care. I suggested to the host that maybe I will have to try again next year and instead of apologizing or even recognizing my frustration, suggested that maybe I try next week instead. My inside voice said "F" you, I'll try somewhere else forever.

This is a lovely restaurant with a beautiful room. Small details like dusting should be attended to. The menu for afternoon tea is to many deserts and not enough sandwiches. Otherwise it is a lovely tea and could with some changes to the menu be the best afternoon tea in Metro Vancouver.

We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation time and were seated promptly. Our server was a tad slow getting to us. We ordered hot beverages to begin. It took quite awhile for our coffee and
cappuccino to arrive. My cappuccino was lukewarm and I should have brought it to the attention of the server. It had probably been sitting waiting for pickup. Once our orders were taken it took a long time 30-4o minutes for the food to arrive. My fries were only lukewarm and they were soggy and greasy! Overall we enjoyed the festive atmosphere as the restaurant is a lovely place. It was obvious that they needed more servers for the busy lunchtime crowd! Our server said to us, "thank you for your patience"...That said it all!
We had wanted to dine at this restaurant for quite sometime. Not sure if we would return in the future.

My three friends and I have celebrated Christmas at Bacchus for more than 25 years. This year, however, we were deeply disappointed. The portions were very small - the waffles dish had very little fruit on it; my Cobb salad had very sparse ingredients. We were still hungry after our meals.

We were so looking forward to a wonderful evening and great food that Bacchus is touted for but to no avail. We got there early and went to the lounge for a cocktail. We ordered and waited for about 20 minutes before we were informed that the bar was out of ingredients for the signature martini my wife ordered, she relooked at the menu and ordered another cocktail from the same section of the menu to be informed they were also out of those ingredients so my wife ordered another item. When the order came I'm sure mine had been sitting in the shaker all along because the Manhattan was extremely watered down. Into the dining room we went for our reservation and were seated at a very nice table. Our order was taken, appetizers arrived and were very good. Then our entrees arrived. My wife had ordered the beef tenderloin medium rare and when she cut into it, it was at best medium well. So we sent it back, no big issue, mistakes happen but by time the order came back, I had completed me meal (at no point had there been a suggestion to hold my meal so we could dine together). Once again she cut into her steak and it was overcooked. She took two bites but had lost her appetite. Our entrees were $52.00 and $48.00 so you just expect that they will be prepared the way you requested them. My wife was offered a complimentary dessert by the manager, unbelievable! They ended up deducting her meal (which she didn't eat) from the bill, which was still over $240.00. The experience ruined a previously very good day. We won't be back.

The best thing about the evening was the Sommelier, she was delightful.

Food and service were fabulous and the restaurant has a cozy welcoming atmosphere. It was very busy and the only thing I felt badly about was that the three Christmas carol singers who appeared to entertain the customers could not be heard with the level of conversation. It was a delightful experience that I will be happy to repeat at any time of the year.
