As you walk into the restaurant, its attention to detail is immediately apparent. You are instantly surrounded by luxury, with richly upholstered furniture, dark wood, and light fixtures personally imported from Venice by founder Eleni Skalbania. These impressive features extend the hotel's brand of elegance. A large canvas depicting Bacchus himself, Greek god of wine and revelry, presides over the room.

Service was nice! And the atmosphere with piano was beautiful :)
Restaurant was a little bit tucked away down a side street but not too hard to find. Greeted immediately and politely and seated. Our server was knowledgeable and fun. Some of the apps are quite large so be careful. The squash veloute (with crab) was delicious...highly recommend. I had the duck two ways which was great, and my wife had the sablefish, which was also wonderful. The desert menu was a little lacking, although there were lots of wonderful cheese options. Just not much for the chocolate lovers.
we were staying at The Wedgewood Inn and decided to have a nice dinner at Bacchus. It didn’t disappoint. The service was very good and the food yummy. I’ve had better rack of lamb but the rest of the meal was great.
Wonderful place for a lovely evening either as a couple or a group. Ambiance was second to none. The pianist was fantastic. Would recommend definitely.
Outstanding setting with tall windows open to the outdoors, banks of rainbow begonias to cheer the diners and a show-stopping floral arrangement for another WOW factor. Restaurant staff members were all helpful and adept. Kudos to the flatbread (we had seconds!). Thoroughly devoured the butternut squash soup and salmon/crab cakes. Happily capped off the delightful lunch with a creative version of carrot cake while we watched the World Cup. Impressive and atmospheric bar.
Excellent food with options for those with dietary requirements. Helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Traditional euro dining setting. Attentive servers and hostess. Excellent cocktail and wine list. The lamb shank with buttermilk sauce( a bit bland) was ok not great for $45. Other dish ordered was the fresh halibut which was properly done except the leek accompaniment was stringy and inedible. For those reasons the food was only fair. Unfortunately the kitchen needs a tune up on the dinner entree items to match the ambience of the room. Hopefully next time a different choice of entree might make the difference.
I was treating my cousin to a getaway weekend at the Wedgwood Hotel for a milestone birthday. We wanted to dine in a French restaurant, and I saw that the hotel had one. We were very impressed with our entire dining experience. What I loved most was the friendly, unpretentious nature of the staff while serving us in a quiet, elegant environment with excellent food and ambience. I would highly recommend Bacchus for fine dining in Vancouver.
Always a pleasaant time when at Bacchus - particularly enjoy lounge area for a small bite. Ambience good and of course service lovely - attentive, polite, just really an enjoyable time . thank you
A civilized start to the day with perfect service.
Wow, the attention to detail here is superb. Great menu, decent prices, great ambiance with live piano, but such impeccable service we just didn't expect. I love this place!
Best meal I have ever had. Servers were excellent, decor was beautiful. Perfect for a romantic date. Bathrooms were great. Make sure you get a dessert if you go here. Also, there is piano player and it added to the experience.
I liked the atmosphere, the food was pretty good. I wish the table was a little bigger, because the plates were kind of big. Thank you!
Bless the hearts of the staff. We definitely were not dressed for this restaurant -- tourists in shorts who were searching for an open restaurant. So the hostess sat us in the back and gave us a cheaper/faster drink menu. But unfortunately right next to a huge party so we couldn't hear each other talk! But the waiter was awesome....treated us like regular restaurant high roller customers. Food great, not spectacular. But, the "little touches" were great.
After hearing a lot of hype about this restaurant, we were a bit underwhelmed. Though the atmosphere was pleasant, the hotel traffic was a little disruptive. We sat fairly close to the service bar, which was noisy and distracting (lots of laughing, talking and banging of dishes). Our server Scott was very very good. He knew the menu, did not rush us with each course, was helpful with selections and did not overdo the “check-ups.” We would recommend the restaurant with certain caveats mentioned above. I
I made a reservation hoping to give my parents a quiet night out, and as such had called the day before to see if I could order and pay for the meal in advance. The man who picked up was less than friendly and seemed annoyed at my request. He informed me that they were unable to take payment over the phone for confidentiality reasons, which is understandable. However, his tone was rude and it was clear he had no intention of helping me. When I asked if I could accompany my parents to give them my credit card details in person upon arrival at the restaurant, his response was simply "Oh I guess that would work."
On the day of the reservation, we were met by the same man who I had spoken to the day before, and when we asked to pay for the meal in advance, he started to imply that he take the credit card and keep it to make payment at the end of the meal. We obviously did not trust them to keep our card and asked if there was any way we could just have them record the card details and have it charged for the pre-ordered meal and any additional items my parents wanted to order. He said they don't do this as most people usually pay at the end of the meal, even though he had already agreed to do so the day before over the phone. After much difficulty, they finally agreed to let us just pay for the meal items that had already been ordered.
While I understand that not all restaurants are able to make such accommodations, this behaviour towards guests is absolutely unacceptable. I would have no problem if I was simply told POLITELY that the restaurant was unable to accommodate my request. I am highly disappointed that a fine dining establishment would employ staff who think that replying to guests with snarky and rude sarcasm is even remotely acceptable. This entire ordeal ruined what was supposed to be a pleasant evening. I hope the restaurant takes note because no matter how good your food is, no one wants to eat at a restaurant where the staff are rude.
The food is very good and presented nicely and they served good cocktails and lots of choices for wine. I would say the ambiance is a bit dated and has a feel of your grandmothers house about it which detracts from the overall experience and makes it seem a little less special. Most of the staff were very obliging and helpful however our server came across as a bit arrogant and wasn’t very attentive. We waiting a long time at the beginning of the night before our order was taken and with with no drinks. Which was a shame because the food was great
I've stayed @ the Wedgewood Hotel on many occasions. It's always been a classy hotel with great valet service & very courteous employees. This is the first time in awhile that I have dined in the Bacchus restaurant . Last Saturday evening I treated some clients/ friends to dinner . The food was delicious , service was never wanting & the ambiance very pleasant . The size of the restaurant is perfect as is the location
The meal was excellent and the mushroom risotto out of this world. And while the waiter was having an off day he really did his a great job with the service. The piano music added a nice touch to our dining experience and we were in a more private room which kept the noise level down. I highly recommend Bacchus if you have time while in Vancouver.
Top quality restaurant but adjacent to open to the rather noisy and busy hotel bar area. We were seated close to the bar area, tables further away or in the side room would be better, but then you would not hear the rather good piano player so well. Food quality was excellent but portion sizes, particularly the starters rather small. Service excellent. Rather expensive for the overall experience.
This was located near our hotel and we loved the ambiance so decided to give it a try. The chicken with apple was delicious, as was the risotto. I gave the diver scallops a try and was not in love but that was personal preference. Service was very nice.
The food was excellent. Joel the server was very good. Couldn’t have asked for anything more.
We had a very enjoyable dinner. The wait staff were incredible. My fish dish was rather bland but my husband's risotto to start and lamb main were incredible. And the dessert was excellent.
our young Irish server was very friendly and professional
Belated Mother’s Day brunch
On touring holiday in Canada from UK and this was a "special treat" Sunday breakfast in Vancouver. Chose it because it was fairly close to both our our hotel and Christ Church Cathedral and also because it was excellently reviwed online. Husband and I had traditional cooked breakfast and daughter veggie options. All fine. Service wonderful and ladies cloakroom beautiful! Highly recommended.
Excellent food. Restaurant was too warm.
Great food, great service. Everything was perfect as expected. Always a great experience at Bacchus.
My friend and I went for High tea on a Saturday Afternoon. It was a lovely atmosphere with great service. They were very accomodating with my friend who was vegetarian (with advance notice of the food restriction). Great place to unwind and enjoy delicious eats.
We chose wonderful dishes. Simon was attentive, not too so, and engaged with us just right. Comfortable table, thank you for the one right above Antonio - great pianist. Lovely birthday dinner for Michelle. Cheers.
Wonderful meal and service. The pianst was great too!
Amazing service and excellent meal on Mother’s Day!
We were there for Mother's Day Celebration. My husband had the Duck two way cook. And I had the Rack of Lamb. To my surprise, the Duck was very good. My Rack of Lamb is okay also. The dessert I had was Creme Bulee and it was very very good.
Visited for afternoon tea service. Our server and other staff were friendly. However the afternoon tea food and tea selection could be improved on when compared to other afternoon tea services in the area (Notch 8, TWG etc.). We came at the end of service so the sandwiches were dry and not very tasty. Cucumber sandwiches barely had any cucumbers and cream cheese. Macarons were cracked and the filling was stingy. Would visit again but not for tea service.
Great lunch location. . Good food. Wonderful waiter.
Lunch is much better than dinner.
Very strange scallop starter (very little scallop)
Duck breast ok confit??
Ambience and pianist were great but food and service didn’t meet our expectations. The waiter was not helpful with menu and we actually received more service from the waiter serving another table.
Exceptional! From the moment we arrived,we were very warmly welcomed. Sean was superb-knowledgeable-excellent with dinner suggestions & wine recommendations-attentive-yet respectful of our privacy and time. We received a delicious surprise appetizer-which started our palate watering. Our dinner presentation and taste was exceptional. We would have loved to spent the evening dinning there, but were attending The Eagles. Sean ensured we had enough time to enjoy dinner and still have our taxi arrive on time. The entire experience exceeded our expectations-Many Thanks to Sean, the chefs, and the Wegewood staff for an incredible evening-can't wait to return! Jeannie
Unfortunately they messed up my order and the server was distracted with chatting most of the night. Amazing restaurant but the service that night was well below par.
Excellent service and presentation- high quality cooking
The only criticism is regarding ambience- pianist is a bit loud and intrusive- I’d prefer no music. It’s also dark - but overall an enjoyable experience and excellent quality
