I arrived 10min early and was told I could not sit at a table (entire dining room was empty). Poutine was mediocre and nothing else on the menu looked or sounded appetizing. Many items were vegan which I didn't anticipate. Bar and waitstaff did not communicate and I almost got charged twice for my terrible Moscow Mule.
food wasnt good.
Location, location, location. This is a better than average spot in a great location in the downtown core. The server was nice though missing in action at times. I will be back again when the occasion suits it.
Great choice on a busy new years eve night.
My girlfriend and I love going here. We visit Toronto when we go to Niagara Falls. We are from the USA and Bannocks provide a great Canadian experiance. Staff are always nice and accommodate our open table request. The food is awesome !
Great service - they accommodated some special requests and made it a really nice experience.
Absolutely delicious perogies and the cinnamon bun was to die for! Such a great selection on the menu. Loved !
Have already recommended. All food items were very flavourful. Maple French Onion Soup, Chicken Pot Pie, Perogies and Fish and Chips. Will come back when in the area.
Small but very tasty brunch menu. Service was friendly and attentive. Will be back
We order 2 salad for two vegan guest who accompanied us ,the quantity was not consistent between the same order served on one table. One veg salad was missing avocado, perhaps the order just had handful of lettuce pieces. Value for money is pathetic for salads. Although I was happy with Grilled chicken burger I ordered, but due to overall experience and dissatisfied colleague whom I took out, I am giving one star.
Food was ok, drinks were meh. Service was mediocre. Waiter was very distracted and wandered off mid conversation. They were polite but not overly present or helpful. Probably won't be back.
My favourite restaurant in the city. I will always recommend it to others.
I was disappointed and shocked to receive an email from Open Table stating Bannock informed them we did not show up for our reservation. We indeed did show up at the reserved time and date!!!!!
How’s rly the service was lacklustre. But is was busy so it seems the restaurant was understaffed. I could barely get a drink when I wanted to order and multiple food items came out incorrect.
Company team breakfast for six people.
Fish cakes were amazing as was the chick pot pie (as usual). Service was very slow and it was hard to get a hold of anyone. Very disappointed they removed the pierogi poutine from the menu to replace it with a 'meatless' chili fries option - seems silly when all the ingredients for it (tater tots, pierogis, poutine, etc) are still available on the menu and the item was already vegetarian?
Service and food outstanding only issue is it's cold inside.
Great food experience but very noisy (Sunday Brunch)
We visit Bannock as part of our annual Santa Trip into the City each year for a family brunch. Each year we have loved the food, ambience and people. Sadly, this year was was a disappointment.
I understand they were busy but our brunch order, which was fairly simple....took over 45 minutes to arrive-It took 15 minutes after we sat down for someone to come over. Parts of the order were incorrect with food missing - They offered to make the missing food but by the time that came, we were finished and we had to send it back. Some food was cold, some was warm-Obviously some if it had been just sitting, waiting. Our server was the gentleman who was also tending the bar and the poor guy was on his own and run off his feet- We had to wait a long time for service and follow up- Not his fault, he was swamped. Such a shame.
Noisy, cold by the Bay entrance....Our one day brunch was not what we expected and essentially a waste of time.
Always an enjoyable experience. Will definitely return, again.
Food and service was great but extremely noisy in the restaurant which made it almost impossible to have a conversation. It’s a shame as this seems to be a common complaint for restaurants. They just don’t give enough thought to acoustics which would make the whole experience So much more enjoyable.
Small portions. Bar and food service were very slow. Food only mediocre. Acoustics were terrible, couldn't hear conversation and server couldn't hear our order.
Service was excellent and as always the food was also excellent.
Delicious food, fun menu, great location and atmosphere. Also a great value. I will definitely be back!
Overall a great lunch. Some issues with service. Seemed to take AGES just to get some hot water with lemon for my beverage. My friend was brought the wrong soup and no soup spoon.
Low score for the disgusting state of the bathrooms which to me is telltale. That and a steak that came to the table very well done from the heat lamp which was redeemed with comp'ed drinks. Food is good, just good. There are better options in the hood for same or less. Mercado, Lena, Richtree Market to name a few.
Great service! Expensive wine. Fabulous pierogies!!
We went because we were picking up our tourtiere. Everyone was very helpful.
Both the food and their service is good. I highly recommended.
Our group loved the food and the clever menu and drink specials and especially our friendly helpful server and his Irish accent.
So pleased to see an interesting array of vegetarian and vegan!
The fries served with the fish & chips, and put on the roast duck poutine pizza, were poor. They tasted like McCain or Cavendish frozen straight-cut fries.
Please cut you pizza or give pizza cutting scissors. I found it difficult to cut with the knife provided. Therefore it was difficult to eat.
Good recommendation and solid food. Had trouble finishing it all.
Excellent food and service! Servers were attentive, the place was busier and noisier than I expected.
Great comfort food served in an attentive and friendly manner. The entire experience was excellent.
Our food and service were both very good. The location if perfect after a day of shopping at the Eaton Centre.
We were surprised and somewhat disappointed at the menu change. We always enjoyed the arugula salad and the Brussel sprouts which are both gone.
I gave the noise level a high score, but not because it was energetic. Just to opposite, the noise level was perfect for conversing with my party. Bannock has always been top notch, and was my first choice for my birthday dinner. No regrets! Delicious food (especially the signature bannock basket) and excellent drinks made it a memorable evening.
Our professional and personable server Abby made it a 5 starexperience!
