Bar Mercurio Toronto
Welcome to bar MERCURIO. We are a quaint Italian restaurant that serves fresh pasta, a fish of the day, classic antipasti, and not - like our whole grilled artichoke. With our salads you will find an anchovy partial Caesar salad to a healthy kale salad with Pecorino cheese.
What stands out are our pizzas. Our pizza dough has been a family recipe for over 100 years and not compromised. We don't do any of the new soft dough stuff that is trendy and etc etc
We serve classic pizzas like buffola and prosciutto to "crazy" stuff like rapini and Grey Owl goat's cheese sausage.
Our gluten free crust is uncompromising, made entirely from rice flour.
In addition, we are pleased to be able to offer an interesting selection of wines and cocktails.
We look forward to hosting you.
Bar Mercurio staff is always warm and welcoming, and very attentive. The food is fresh and authentic to its Italian roots, with bright flavours of simple ingredients. Nonetheless, the dishes are creative, but never contrived. It's a place you want to go back to time and time again.
This place, the service team and la cucina have got it all Right! What a delightful experience.
Wonderful gluten free pizza. One of the best!
Celebrated my boyfriends bday.
my favorite restaurant in Toronto; ask the owner Joe for a plate of antipasto and you'll get a wild array of conventional and innovative delicacies; I've never had calamari so tender. the bread is sublime, served with a bean spread spiced just right for whatever wine they serve, and the list of whites is particularly diverse.
Wonderful as always!
The nicest people greeted us. After being seated, the waitress asked if we would like to change tables to a more quiet location. Sure! Food good - the pizza crust was fantastic! I could use more tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni on “the best pizza in Canada” which was delicious but shy on ingredients. Rigatoni was with mom’s homemade sauce and did not disappoint. Husband does not know tipping rules, yet, after all this time...he tipped 15% and when I realized, I was so embarrassed after how nice they were. Sooooory.
Thank-you for your comments! Please come back to see us!
Incredible restaurant! Great service, and delicious food highlighting seasonal ingredients. On my three day trip to Toronto, I went here twice! Would highly recommend.
Never going back again, checked their menu online, upon arriving the menu wasn’t the same and prices were much higher. $19 for an Octupus starter and the piece was the size for my pinky plus some chickpeas, so glad I added the $10 side Caesar, what a rip-off for two pieces of romaine.
Disappointing, overpriced, and slightly odd. Rigatoni Ragu tasted as if it had stew poured over it. Cornish hen was so overcooked it might have been on since the day before. Used to like this place, but not any longer.
I booked a reservation for myself and a group of coworkers for Monday August 5 and when we arrived at the restaurant it was closed.
I can understand being closed for the civic holiday but I would have appreciated being contacted when I made a reservation instead of having to scramble to find another restaurant to accomodate 8 people at the last minute.
Warm people, delicious food... always!
The pasta dish was more tomatoey than meatsaucey! Not the best we've had as far as pasta dishes. The surprise pasta dish was ok but nothing memorable.
Pleasant environment with knowledgeable and warm, homey service. Couldn't ask for more.
The atmosphere is nice but we have 4 or 5 different servers over the course of the evening which led to a lot of confusion. The pasta and meat were way overcooked. I was charged $40’for a boat chop that was past well done. If you want to charge Scaramouche entree prices or needs to be as good as Scaramouche. Pasta was cooked past al debate. Servers were nice but it was weird how many people attended us. We waited a long time for a dessert menu/list. It’s a very cool place but does not meet expectations for quality or value
Great interesting food. Lovely lunch!
Food is delicious, but be prepared to walk away hungry. Main courses are appetizer-sized.
We had another great evening at Bar Mercurio - Roberto took great care of us and we had a wonderful meal!
Excellent meal! Best rigatoni ragout bolognese I have ever had. Nice ambiance and attentive service. A definite A plus.
Food was good, the young lady assisting our waiter was excellent. Our waiter was very inattentive. My girlfriend had a glass of wine and would have liked a second but the waiter never checked on us and he never asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu. The place was very busy so I guess this was an isolated experience . I would go back.
Went for lunch with a friend. The owner was folding napkins behind us. It was obvious that this was not a place to come for lunch. You could hear and see all preparations for later in day. Too bad! Food was good but ambience was zero.
This charming family owned business is the real deal. If you are looking for a small restaurant with big flavor and attention to detail, this is. Their gluten free pizza crust and flourless chocolate cake are Celiac friendly. Definitely make a reservation because there are maybe 20 tables and a line out the door! Will definitely go back the next time in town!
Tables were set far enough apart so that you didn't feel crowded and had some privacy. Every part of the meal was different and very tasty. The Caesar salad was light yet very flavorful and light on the garlic. The combination of meats in the pasta sauce was interesting.
Lunch was very good. was out of stock of the wine we wanted but another selection was available and very nice
Convenient location for Annex'ers. Comfortable bistro feel, with primarily Italian cuisine. Decent food and ambience.
Superb service. The waiter was one of the best I have had. He knew exactly when to come to the table, didn't hover, was knowledgeable, had charisma and made a great evening excellent.
Excellent food and service made for an enjoyable evening. We will definitely be back
A bit crowded. A bit noisy. Had a 5:30 reservation and were told that they needed our table at 7pm for a group of six ...not acceptable. We were reminded several times. Food was very good.
We had tickets for a concert at Koerner Hall. When planning our trip to Toronto, I searched for a restaurant near the venue. Everything I read about Bar Mercurio suggested that this was the place to go. Now I'm going to be one of those people suggesting that this is the place to go! Pleasant ambiance, great service, fine food! We'll be back!
Love this place! If I could give it more than 5 stars - especially for "ambiance" - I would! Food was great and service welcoming and fun. Grilled calamari and Funghi pizza were amazing. So glad this lovely trattoria has endured, it's a treasure! Can hardly wait to go back.
Excellent meal, great service and lovely place. My husband ordered the chef special which was amazing. I asked if I could get the gnocchi and a gorgonzola sauce Chichén again was the excellent
I really enjoyed the ambience. We were seated in the back room where the noise level was such that my husband and I did not have to compete with it in order to have a conversation.
The service was good...but my dish...the nicoise salad...was completely without flavour...and the potatoes had dark spots on them. My husband’s calamari was ok...and the coffee was good.
The bill for two lunch mains, 2 drinks (one wine one coke) and 2 coffees, inc tax and tip, was about $100...a lot to pay for not a lot of quality.
Great place for an "event" dinner. Table of 8. Great food, great service - and a good environment for conversation.
Waiter was super, really knew his contents, with guests that are really picky, including me!
All food was way too salty! Caesar salad too vinegary, as well. Romaine did not seem fresh and crisp enough. You could choke on the artichoke pieces on my pizza which were very tough! The whole wheat crust was burned and hard. Basically, not worth the struggle, and especially not at that expensive a price!
Our waiter was nice enough but kind of abandoned us. Disappointed.
Tables at the front were too confining and a refrigerator at the back had extremely bright lights that you could escape if you face the front of the restaurant.
This is one of my favourite restaurants. The food , bar and most importantly the wonderful staff make it an epic expreiece each and every time. I am a repeat cutomer when I come to Toronto for work or pleasure.
Busy when I arrived but greeted and invited to the bar while waiting for my guest. After a few minutes was offered a choice of tables which was very nice and my guest arrived. Menu explained, wine suggested, and order taken by a very pleasant and knowledgeable waiter. Two starters and a shared entree was gracefully accommodated. Food was excellent as was the wine. Topped the meal off with a wonderful dessert. Pleasant evening spent in a room where you could talk. On our leaving the host made a special effort to make sure we were thanked. Fine neighbourhood dining at its best and a great night out! Highly recommend.
Third visit and have not been disappointed yet. Absolutely A+ staff; A+ food and great location if you're heading to Koerner Hall! We'll be back!
Especially the food and the service were excellent. Noise level a bit high, but to be expected on a Saturday evening. Bar Mercurio never disappoints!
