About Bar Mercurio Toronto
Welcome to bar MERCURIO. We are a quaint Italian restaurant that serves fresh pasta, a fish of the day, classic antipasti, and not - like our artichoke au gratin appitizer. With our salads you will find an anchovy partial cesar salad to a healthy dandelion salad with shaved crotonese cheese.
And what stands out are our pizzas. Our pizza dough has been a family recipe for over 100 years and not compromised. We don't do any of the new soft dough stuff that is trendy and etc etc
We serve classic pizzas like buffola and prosciutto to "crazy" stuff like pistacchio and fennel sausage.
Our gluten free crust is uncompromising.
In addition, we are pleased to be able to offer an interesting selection of wines by the glass with our Enomatic dispensing machine.
We look forward to seeing you.

Bar Mercurio Toronto Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I chose Bar Mercurio to celebrate our anniversary and they did not disappoint! I have celiac disease and they were very accommodating! Not to mention that they make their own in-house gluten free pizza dough! The food was divine, the ingredients fresh and the service professional... well worth the drive to the 6!
We had caesar salad and a very fine pizza along with a glass of prosecco. All very well presented, quite tasty, and reasonablypriced.
Had the Gorgonzola pizza which was so, sooooo good, it was sublime. also had an uninspired kale salad which was a bit swamped with a mayo dressing.
We polished off a delicious bottle of red like the sporting champs we are, and sampled a light fluffy chocolate sugary thing which made us all happy.
Our waiter made the dinner special for us, he really brought something extra. And they all sang Happy Birthday to our friend.
Only go to Bar Marcurio if you adore brilliant Italian food and wine.
Not everything is perfect but it was a great meal. We loved it.
Small but excellent Italian bar/restaurant. Lively, friendly ambiance. Great food and excellent service. Easy access from St. George subway stop.
The owner and wait staff/bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. The food and drinks are always delicious and the chefs are willing to prepare something vegan if asked. Joe, the owner, and the long-time staff remember names and faces and greet you like you are family. I always take friends and family from out-of-town to Bar Mercurio--my favorite restaurant in Toronto!
I have been before and enjoyed it despite the noise level. This time our party of 4 were 50-50 on the food. 2 of us had a pasta special that was terrible. The salads were good. The waiter tried to make up for it with a dessert tray which was lovely but really I wanted a better meal. It will probably be a while returning since there are more consistent restaurants I know of.
Meet my sister at the airport from Scotland and we head downtown to enjoy breakfast at L'espresso and dinner at Bar Mercurio !
Coffee and food are amazing , service is attentive and knowledgable , surroundings perfect . We never venture further to eat for our two day visit than Mercurio , keep doing what you do and know that all my friends and family that live way north of Toronto have heard about Mercurio.
Thank you .
Service was alright. Decent food. I recommend the pizzas, the steak was too dry. Close to UoT, Yorkville and the ROM. Lively ambience. Wouldn't return, but overall good experience.
Excellent food, as usual. Equally excellent service. The wine was good but somewhat pricey. The overall cost of the meal was somewhat higher than I am comfortable with. However, this is offset by the food quality and the friendly service.
My husband and I decided dinner out to start the August long weekend would be good idea. We needed something to lift our moods following a day of heavy rain. We always have enjoyable meals at Mercurio but two items were especially good that evening. The home-made burrata cheese in the caprese salad was so divine that we were sorry at first not to have just ordered the salad for dinner. Then the gnocchi with mushrooms arrived. The scent of the truffle oil quickly overcame any regrets of ordering more. Complimentary amaro from Giuseppe, the owner, capped a perfect evening.
Authentic Italian food with a twist. We ordered the fried calamari and it was delicious. They covered the calamari in a fresh marinara sauce and accompanied it with a nice arugula salad. The ceaser salad was also delicious. We ordered pizzas and all were perfect. It's a tiny restaurant so I would make a reservation just in case. It's at a great location on bloor so you can go for a nice walk after. Love this place.
A wonderful evening, as always. Great friendly service and a nice atmosphere.
Authentic and delicious. Elegant but down to earth. The staff were all so attentive and sincere. Such a great place.
Great atmosphere walking in reminiscent of a European Classic cafe/ bistro. The waiter was attentive but the drinks were sometimes slow, had to pour my wine, dessert and coffee took forever.
The wine list was heavily weighted to the $$$ bottles. The waiter always recommended the most expensive choices in everything which is not always representative of the tastiest items. The menu online was 25% cheaper than in the restaurant ( a new menu).
The food was delicious especially the house made Burrata and the gnocchi .
I had been to Bar Mecurio before for a quick light dinner and was impressed. I suggested to friends to go this time for a leisurely dinner.
I was surprised to see many items on the menu did not seem to have prices and our server, who was very pleasant, when he told us the specials - did not mention any prices. And the problem is, you always feel awkward to ask for the price! (I know I am not alone on this!)
When the bill came we were all a bit surprised that with tip it was almost $400.00! And we only had one bottle of wine - almost their cheapest.
It was also a surprise to pay $16.00 for one piece of coconut cream pie!
So - the ambience is lovely, the food is very good, location is great, wine list is limited - especially when you know there are so many drinkable wines at the LCBO for under $20 - so why can't more restaurants have a few bottles at around $35 - $40?
Would I go back? Yes, but I would be careful what I ordered and I would ASK FOR THE PRICES!!
Excellent service and a great menu that has a pizza or pasta for everyone. I really appreciated that they had a gluten free pizza crust!
Always amazing food and service
Great ambiance, personal service and outstanding food.
We live nearby and after several dining experiences have never been disappointed. This is definitely a quality operation. Servers are very proficient and pleasant. Food is consistently well prepared, presented and tasty. Bottom line - you can't go wrong with Bar Mercurio.
Awesome. Love this place!
Great Food! Good Service! Excellent evening!
Relaxed and good atmosphere for a business luncheon. You can actually have a conversation a hear each other!
Always a great meal served by spectacular waitstaff.
Try the pizza - delectable thin crust wow!
The fresh artichoke salad was also wonderful.
Excellent food and service. Absolutely will go back here when we are back in Toronto.
Great experience! We were a group of 6 heading to a concert and they handled us superbly. All our dishes were great, our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The gluten free pizza crust was very good, and an interesting wine list. A great choice for the area!
I like the ambiance of the restaurant but I found it overpriced. For a 6 oz glass of wine you generally have to pay $20 - you could get it at another restaurant for just over half that. The specials sounded delicious but there were so many of them and the server rattled them off really quickly and seemed mildly annoyed when asked to repeat it. The serving portions of pasta were small for the price.
All of us enjoyed what we had. Our server Rob was fantastic, funny and accommodating especially when we said we had to be out of there by a certain time. Great night had by all.
Bar Mercurio started out strong, with a warm welcome from the Maitre D'.
Service was slow, but that was not unexpected given that it was Valentine's Day. However, it is unclear whether the fact that my partner and I do not drink alcohol that our soda and water glasses sat empty for much of the evening. At $3.95 for each half can of pop (one glass) we were still quite willing to pay for more, but the question was never asked.
The food was flavourful, with the calamari truly being the standout dish. However the fettuccine with porcini mushrooms desperately needed pepper and some Parmesan, but none was offered to our table while the surrounding tables were offered it upon their entrees arriving. Ditto for the focaccia.
Would we go again? Yes. Just not on an 'occasion' and perhaps we would stick with the much-advertised pizza menu.
Busy popular spot but overpriced and underwhelming
Beautiful restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was prompt and I enjoyed the atmosphere greatly and my date was pleasantly impressed.
The service was excellent but the food was mediocre, at best, and very overpriced as a result. Would think twice before dining here again.
Excellent pre theatre dinner. Very busy restaurant but service was professional and attentive. Food was very good. Our table was in the middle of a busy area, will ask for a better table next time. Otherwise we were very pleased.
Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in Toronto, a classic spot, in its prime.
Tasty pizzas. Felt very European in ambience. Pastas a little pricey. Good wait staff.
Bar Mercurio is a wonderful restaurant,I eat there whenever I am in Toronto and the food, staff, service and total ambiance is great but don't tell anyone PLEASE, the last thing I want is Bar M becoming trendy and "poplar" and changing. It is just great as it is, a bit below the Toronto Life radar.
I made a reservation and was shown to a very uncomfortably placed table in the aisle right near the door. (should not even put a dining table there)
The restaurant was very busy. I asked for different table and they showed us to a slightly better one.
The food was expensive for what it was. My appetizer of $18 was the special and was good but small and not that special. The porchetta mentioned to be included in this appetizer was dry and burnt. Very small portion.
My pizza was poor. The crust was dry and burnt. I should have sent it back but when one goes to a restaurant and nothing seems to go well - and you are with a friend that you have not seen for a while - you do not want to keep on complaining. So I did not.
I will not return.
Very, very noisy if you like that kind of thing.
The staff seemed very very busy. Not very friendly. Although our waiter was very pleasant .
Pizza is delicious! Diverse selection of specials. Very good wine list. Food reasonably priced, especially the pizza. Wine will quickly add to your bill so be careful.
Friendly welcome and excellent service. The artichoke salad was original and delicious. The bison special was wonderful but we should have been told that it's cost was more than twice that of the other main courses. We will return.
Consistently good food, service and atmosphere. Difficult to find consistency in value as the main dishes are quite pricey (good, but still...) as compared to the pastas and pizzas which are equally delicious and very affordable. Wine list starts at about $60. We'll be back again, but may be more cognizant of the pricing policy of the restaurant.
