Bar Mercurio Toronto
Welcome to bar MERCURIO. We are a quaint Italian restaurant that serves fresh pasta, a fish of the day, classic antipasti, and not - like our artichoke au gratin appitizer. With our salads you will find an anchovy partial cesar salad to a healthy dandelion salad with shaved crotonese cheese.
And what stands out are our pizzas. Our pizza dough has been a family recipe for over 100 years and not compromised. We don't do any of the new soft dough stuff that is trendy and etc etc
We serve classic pizzas like buffola and prosciutto to "crazy" stuff like pistacchio and fennel sausage.
Our gluten free crust is uncompromising.
In addition, we are pleased to be able to offer an interesting selection of wines by the glass with our Enomatic dispensing machine.
We look forward to seeing you.
Dinner: Monday -Thursday: 5:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Friday 5:30 PM - 12:30 AM

We brought our parents to this restaurant, it was overpriced for what we got. The pasta special was overly salty and barely edible. We were a table of 4 and there was an open table of two, one server moved the table to our 4 table ( to make our table a 6) for no reason as we were in a corner. It was very stupid, and when we moved it back because it boxed us in, he came over to move it back and give us a hard time. Not a great experience serving wise. The pizza was pretty good though so I’d go back just for that but since there’s other great places in the city, I likely won’t go back.
Excellent service by young woman who is studying Criminology at UofT!!
We had a great time celebrating our daughters graduation- the only thing was our table was in the back and it was hot . But overall- was satisfied.
I don’t have a lot of good things to say. Service was slow and sporadic. The pasta I had was awful.
Always delicious , interesting and classic .
My sisters and I enjoyed everything. The waiter was especially nice to me after I told him I just had a dental procedure and could not chew. He recommended the venison tartar which was excellent and the veggie lasagna, also perfect for me. Many thanks!
Excellent bread made on site. Excellent server. Lovely olive oil.
Great food, great wine, great service, great ambiance as always.
I love Bar Mercurio for its regular menu and seasonal specials. Taste, ingredients, presentation. Everything is to appreciate wholeheartedly. The food never disappoints. The service is hits and misses. Some servers are excellent, better than any other I have had at any other restaurant: gentle, welcoming, unassuming, knowledgeable, ready to help. 1 of the 3 servers we had at our table was of this type. (I was waited on by him and remembered him for making that occasion very special.) The other 2 were also very nice, and will be good in service if they were trained. On this particular occasion, they revealed how green they still were; one of them took away our bread plates after appetizers, apparently not knowing that we could keep having breads through the main course. He nearly took away our forks then, too (this happened before, on another occasion). The other one mishandled the credit card machine. I hope the restaurant will educate them better.
The ambiance is always good here but service remains hit or miss; while we love seeing Nonna there each visit, it’s clear that she is more of a hindrance and the other staff have to make up for oversights (food to wrong table, bread to some but not to others unless asked, forgetting to alert other staff re desire to pay, and literally being underfoot enough to almost cause a couple of accidents all during just one meal). It would also be nice to have melted cheese on pizzas as opposed to flat disks of warm cheese...but the location is good and the atmosphere is nice and staff are always friendly
Always a great experience
Great service and lots of suggestions as what to eat.
food was prepared so well. You need time to enjoy food at this restaurant unfortunately we did not have a lot of time at hand.
it is pricy
Enjoyed - within walking distance to the event we were attending at Innes College. Best gluten free pizza crust I have ever had at a restaurant.
Bar Mercurio never disappoints. A wonderful and comfortable neighbourhood spot with quality authentic Italian fare. Service is very gracious in a homespun way.
Excellent food, and incredibly good service. Lots of specials expands the options.
A very beautiful place to dine. I had enjoyed lunch there previously and found the dinner to be outstanding!
From the greeting which was warm and welcoming to the last farewell, we had a fabulous experience! Enroute to our reserved table, we saw the server who has always served us and the maitre’d automatically led us to his station! The chef obliged and replaced a tomato sauce with an alternate. The cuisine was fresh, tasty and well presented. The server was attentive, yet non obtrusive. Many thanks for yet another memorable dining experience!
I thought for the money, it was overpriced for pizza. the red wine list started at $50 for the least expensive bottle I could see. the food was good but I think a personal pizza costing $23 is a bit much.

We left and did not eat there. We had to wait for a menu...and then wait for a wine list...
We were going to the theater and although other customers were asked about going to an event we were ignored. We were not regular customers but felt we were treated rudely. We will not go back.
Owner and staff paid attention to our table and ensured the evening was fun and enjoyable both in terms of the food as well as the ambiance.
With family visiting from Europe and checking out the ROM, I selected this restaurant based on a) its proximity to the ROM and b) its great reviews. I knew that it was Good Friday, and that not all restaurants would be open, so I took to Open Table to help me find a nearby restaurant that was open. Tired and cold, I met up with my family in front of the restaurant only to see that it was closed.
It's key to ensure that all online platforms are updated with store hours to avoid what was an incredibly inconvenient experience.
BEST PIZZA IN TORONTO. No one is even close to their quality! Excellent Italian authentic restaurant. Thank you for the great service. We will go back! We have lived in a Toronto for 12 years, wish we had found you before!
Amazing food, phenomenal pizza and wonderful warm service
very fresh authentic italian and the pizza is incredible.
We found the food expensive, even by Yorkville standards.
The food is good but the service was very slow. We did not get our salads until 45 minutes after we arrived and we had to ask for a rush on our entrees, as they were so slow in coming, and then eat them in 15 minutes so we could get to our concert. Although we have been before and enjoyed it, I would think twice before going again.
Awesome food! Awesome service!
This is a smart casual bistro in a pleasant area of town, easily accessible and a good menu of pizza plus other Italian food. The service is attentive and friendly and the place always lively without being too noisy. We have enjoyed eating there for several years
Very quaint spot with friendly staff. Food is absolutely delicious, organic in-house made pasta.
The worst $300 dinner for two ever. They forgot our bottle of wine, messed up our food order and took our app away before we were done eating it. To top it all off the server asked if I was also a server somewhere - completely random.
Great Ambiance Genuine Italian atmosphere Great willingness from staff to work with my beginner's Italian without cutting me off. Great staff rapport I will definitely be returning there soon
Great people ... great food .. great service
Bar Mercurio is a wonderful place to eat. They take such good care of you, and the food is great.
Highly recommended, I’d go back in a second.
It was a major disappointment in almost every way. The menu was absolutely pretentious with descriptions meant to confuse, but allow for ridiculous price increases. We waited for service to the point where we had to summons the waiter to take our orders. The tables were well set, but too close together to have an intimate conversation. The food was both good and bad. The pizza crust was so hard that it was almost impossible to cut with a steak knife. Altogether a very disappointing experience. I will be there twice....the first and LAST time !
the manager was pleasant and seemed engaged. I appreciated his introducing himself and he tried to help out. A couple things that were not so great were, we had to wait quite a while for a reserved table, which I don't understand, and we were at a table where the lighting was horrible and was only partially corrected. They might want to rethink where this fridge, or whatever it is with the terrible strip bright lights, is located and perhaps not in front of a table with a huge mirror on the opposite wall creating a blinding effect for the people at the table.
My friends and I all thought perhaps the waiter wanted to be somewhere else that evening as he didn't seem too involved or interested in us.
I don't like leaving bad reviews but truly for the price and type of food they are offering, I expected a better evening.
I like the look/style and even some of the food, but the ambiance/service was not on par. I would still try it again, as sometimes it's just an off night, but I would be sure to ask to sit somewhere else.
I set up a reservation for eight on a Wednesday evening, something that's not easy to do in Toronto on short notice. The owner and servers were gracious and attentive and allowed us to be loud and boisterous. The group went through quite a few bottles of wine but never got out of hand because the food was timed so well. The pizzas in particular got shared around as did the other apps, family style. The mains were tasty and filling. Coffee and amaro completed the meal.
We enjoyed it so much that four of us returned two days later and had a similarly wonderful time. I will definitely be back.
We selected the restaurant partly based on the menu on their web site and were very disappointed to find out the menu had changed significantly and was nothing like the one on the website. It was considerably more expensive than the menu on the web site. Unfortunately my pizza was terribly soggy and the crust was a mushy dough ... I couldn't finish it but decided not to say anything as I didn't want to make a fuss and embarrass my dining companion. Overall, the food was not good and was terribly overpriced. I don't mind paying for good food but we certainly didn't find it here.
This was my first visit to this hidden and unassuming gem in the Bloor Yorkville area.
Outstanding food and warm attentive service.
Definitely will be joining my go to list of restaurants!
