Very quaint spot with friendly staff. Food is absolutely delicious, organic in-house made pasta.
The worst $300 dinner for two ever. They forgot our bottle of wine, messed up our food order and took our app away before we were done eating it. To top it all off the server asked if I was also a server somewhere - completely random.
Great Ambiance Genuine Italian atmosphere Great willingness from staff to work with my beginner's Italian without cutting me off. Great staff rapport I will definitely be returning there soon
Great people ... great food .. great service
Bar Mercurio is a wonderful place to eat. They take such good care of you, and the food is great.
Highly recommended, I’d go back in a second.
It was a major disappointment in almost every way. The menu was absolutely pretentious with descriptions meant to confuse, but allow for ridiculous price increases. We waited for service to the point where we had to summons the waiter to take our orders. The tables were well set, but too close together to have an intimate conversation. The food was both good and bad. The pizza crust was so hard that it was almost impossible to cut with a steak knife. Altogether a very disappointing experience. I will be there twice....the first and LAST time !
the manager was pleasant and seemed engaged. I appreciated his introducing himself and he tried to help out. A couple things that were not so great were, we had to wait quite a while for a reserved table, which I don't understand, and we were at a table where the lighting was horrible and was only partially corrected. They might want to rethink where this fridge, or whatever it is with the terrible strip bright lights, is located and perhaps not in front of a table with a huge mirror on the opposite wall creating a blinding effect for the people at the table.
My friends and I all thought perhaps the waiter wanted to be somewhere else that evening as he didn't seem too involved or interested in us.
I don't like leaving bad reviews but truly for the price and type of food they are offering, I expected a better evening.
I like the look/style and even some of the food, but the ambiance/service was not on par. I would still try it again, as sometimes it's just an off night, but I would be sure to ask to sit somewhere else.
I set up a reservation for eight on a Wednesday evening, something that's not easy to do in Toronto on short notice. The owner and servers were gracious and attentive and allowed us to be loud and boisterous. The group went through quite a few bottles of wine but never got out of hand because the food was timed so well. The pizzas in particular got shared around as did the other apps, family style. The mains were tasty and filling. Coffee and amaro completed the meal.
We enjoyed it so much that four of us returned two days later and had a similarly wonderful time. I will definitely be back.
We selected the restaurant partly based on the menu on their web site and were very disappointed to find out the menu had changed significantly and was nothing like the one on the website. It was considerably more expensive than the menu on the web site. Unfortunately my pizza was terribly soggy and the crust was a mushy dough ... I couldn't finish it but decided not to say anything as I didn't want to make a fuss and embarrass my dining companion. Overall, the food was not good and was terribly overpriced. I don't mind paying for good food but we certainly didn't find it here.
This was my first visit to this hidden and unassuming gem in the Bloor Yorkville area.
Outstanding food and warm attentive service.
Definitely will be joining my go to list of restaurants!
This was not my first time to Bar Mercurio and it won't be my last. Creative Italian cooking with a great wine list and selection of Amaro.
I had the Ravioli special which was ravioli stuffed with salmon and served with mussels in a fennel and garlic broth - outstanding.
My date had pumpkin stuffed gnocchi with shaved truffle and it too was stupendous.
Daniel treated us well.
A great midtown location near Yorkville, the Royal Ontario Museum and the Bata Shoe Museum.
As always the Mercurio was perfect. I'm taking more of my friends there next week!
Mercurio is one of my favourite restaurants for fabulous food and atmosphere.
We were attending a concert in the area and looking for an early light meal, and pizza did it. We were pleasantly surprised with this gem which we had not heard of or visited. Service and atmosphere were enjoyable. We will go back for their pasta.
Betty & Warren M.
Amazing! We come back time and time again for birthdays and date nights. Just love it!
Great service, tasty food, wonderful atmosphere, casual and friendly.
My friend and I dined here on Saturday, December 16,2017. The Kale salad was delicious. We were given 2 pieces bread which came with a tomato based sauce which tasted weird to me. I had Veal Cutlet, which was expensive and tasteless. My friend had pizza and said the tomato sauce was also tasteless. We were both disappointed with our meals. It was very disappointing for such an expensive meal. We will not return to Bar Mercurio.
The service was most excellent. It really made dining a pleasure. The waiter was attentive and was careful of food restrictions, etc. The wine was great and the salads were so interesting and delicious. The veal was very good. The chicken was just ok (but I had it without the dairy ingredients so it's probably better as it comes normally).
The vegetarian pasta was ok.
Since we don't eat pork products and I didn't want pasta or pizza (low carb diet), I/we found the menu somewhat restrictive.
Overall we had a really enjoyable evening there.
Bar Mercurio continues to charm! After 18 years of Bar M meals, I am always glad to be going back!
Always great food. And terrific personal service. Love this place. My fav Italian in Yorkville and probably in toronto
One of the best restaurants in Toronto in terms of food, service and atmosphere. Their menu might be seasonal but the chicken breast is fantastic.
This was a quaint little resto with an upbeat ambiance. Great service and food. Highly recommend.
Wonderful spot for a small gathering. Every item on the menu served to our group was one where people wanted to share -- "This is SO good .. try it!" I will definitely go ahead. Would be a cosy place on a cold winter evening.
Food was delicious. Charming ambience. Enjoyed the paintings on the wall.
I did find it noisy, hard to hear the conversation at our table, but I will still recommend it to friends.
Outstanding service from our attentive and friendly waiter. 4 of us ordered 3 different salads and they were brought to our table on a large platter for sharing. We all ordered pizza, and had lots of leftovers. Might be better to share a pizza between 2. The wine we ordered (Amarone) was not in stock and so our waiter suggested a substitute wine--a Valpolicella--just an ok wine.
We have eaten here many times, and will return.
Outstanding personal service
Our go-to spot before a concert. Always friendly, efficient service and great food; especially the pizza.
We dined before going to a concert. The staff appears extremely flustered, overwhelmed. My pizza was terrible flavourless with crust that couldn't be cut. My friend has pasta. Had to ask for cheese and wait. The pasta was too salty. They took glasses away when we wanted more wine ....and when I asked about a bite sized biscotti with my latte I got a full sized one for an additional charge. Neither my friend nor myself will go back. The only was would be for a drink....and even that is doubtful. Disappointed.
I would not recommend this place for anything. It once was a nice, classy place but it isn't any more. It is now mainly a pizza joint that offers some over-priced ordinary specials. The service is terrible.
Very good service, good choice of food, but very very salty, takes away the real taste of the pizza. Dommage :L
