We took advantage of the 3 course prix fixe lunch before theatre. The experience was superb! We were seated in the beautiful garden. The food was excellent. The service was attentive. The ambiance of the garden was just so relaxing and conducive to enjoying wine and lunch. What a bargain...what a find! We will be back! Thank you for a great beginning to a wonderful day.

The garden was beautiful, but placed in a corner with significant wait staff traffic. The pre-theatre three-course menu was fair at best. The website listed filet and crab cakes as options with a $10 upcharge, but the menu did not reflect these offerings. Felt a bit "rushed" even though there was plenty of time to reach the theater in time for the performance and there were plenty of open tables inside and outside. Appreciated Barbetta's recognizing a birthday.

We were lucky the weather was mild and we secured a table outdoors in the garden area. Both indoors and outside’s tables are wonderful. I wasn’t so happy with our server (I secretly nicknamed him Nikita) — he didn’t measure up to the server (I believe his name is Elvis) that took care of us two weeks before.

Barbetta's is an oasis in midtown NYC. The garden provides a serene place for meaningful conversations during a meal. The food was prepared expertly, and the portions were moderate--which was just fine with our party. The service was professional, and we had a wonderful time reconnecting with our friends around the table.

We had the pre theatre dinner during restaurant week. It was our first time here. We sat in the garden which was beautiful. It was so quiet you would not know that you were in the city. The food and service were outstanding. I am looking forward to returning.

We had requested a quiet table (we are hard of hearing )and our request was honored. Close to the end of the meal however a group of 3 was seated VERY CLOSE to us when there were lots of tables available. They were quiet but I think they were also uncomfortable at being so close. Other than that the meal was excellent. Regards

Worst dinner we had in NYC out of a 4 day trip. I mean from tasteless food to the waiter never even checking on us after the main dish was served. Terrible experience would never return.

This is not what it was. Fake flowers on the table, flimsy piece of pink paper with photocopied menu. Zabagione that was a squirt of whipped cream. I could go on but it’s too depressing.

Very disappointing… food was just ok, service was just ok. Restaurant was very empty on a Saturday night. Piano player finished at 8:00 then we sat in a very empty and quiet room. Very overpriced. The most disappointing meal we had in New York.

We went during restaurant week for a pre-theatre dinner. The special menu was excellent with a variety of choices and everything we ordered was first-rate. We ate in the beautiful garden in the back and it felt like eating in Italy. We had not eaten there in many years and will definitely return.

A good choice for a pre theatre 3 course dinner for $42. The backyard is nice on a summer’s evening. The restaurant is, however, in need of a make over. The decor is tired and worn.

Old school elegance with a wonderful menu. My appetizer was unlike anything I had tried before; a hollowed-out sweet onion served as the bowl, and was filled with a blend of onion and a creamy Italian cheese. My main course was the rack of lamb with fava beans, peas, pearl onions, and roasted hazelnuts. The lamb chops were large, tender, and cooked perfectly. The wait staff were plentiful and attentive. We never felt ignored or rushed. My only regret is that, due to preferences of others in my party, we chose to eat indoors, but we did step out into the garden dining area and it looked romantic and comfortable. We will dine in the garden next time!

Restaurant week menu was very good — something for everyone. One item was excluded from the on line menu and when I inquired they graciously allowed me to order it. We weren’t rushed and were sitting in the garden area outdoors which was delightful — we were lucky that the weather was perfect.

We used the great Restaurant Week prices to try Barbetta, an outstanding northern Iralian restaurant near the Theater District. Staff, waiters, food and the beauty of the room were all perfect. We saw the beautiful outdoor garden, where we would like to eat at another time. It was too hot for outdoor dining on Friday. Barbetta is a perfect place to "pop the question," given its beauty.

My husband and I were amazed about the tasteless food & small portions. I’m not a glutton but I was still hungry after the main couse of cold chicken. Ugh! My granddaughter had a gnocchi which was much too cheesy. My son & I tried it and we understood why she didn’t eat it. My son’s dinner was good. One in four dinners doesn’t cut it. We won’t return to this restaurant.

The good: we ate in the garden in back of the restaurant, which was lovely, cool, and quiet. Easy to forget you're not in NYC. The food was excellent—we ate from the pre-theatre prix fixe menu (although they spelled it pre fixe, the American misspelling that's become common). The Very Not Good: The bill was $137—absolutely fair price—but they rang up my credit card for $187. They fixed it with no complaint (and a couple of apologies) when I pointed it out, but I have to say I wonder if it was an innocent mistake or an attempt to scam me out of $50 plus tip.

Absolutely best Northern Italian restaurant in New York City if not the whole USA. Authentic cuisine. Fabulous ambiance. Impeccable service. Smoked salmon is A1. Fresh made pasta (gnocchi) were phenomenal. Rabbit done to perfection.
