We had a lovely pre-theatre dinner. It was my daughter and I and the staff was so polite and friendly. She has food allergies and they made a special plate of pasta for her. Eduardo, the maitre d/manager, was simply delightful and so friendly. Highly recommend for an authentic old world style Italian dinner.

$50 dollars for pasta, that’s bland and lacks flavour. I don’t think so. The waiter was rude, aggressive, ignorant not to mention he raised his voice at my 76 year old grandmother and accused her of messing up her order, when in fact he got it wrong twice. Another waiter laughed in our face, when we asked for something. I have to say the manager sorted it out and gave us the meal for half price, however I wouldn’t recommend Barbetta. Huge shame as I’m a regular in the city and had heard great things but this wasn’t worth it at all.

We hadn't been to Barbetta for over 20 years and couldn't resist celebrating our 49th anniversary there despite the trek from my home to what is still a real classic. It looks and feels the same! From the Maitre D' reception... to the bar... and finally to dinner and deserts. A to Z with the emphasis on the "A" for all great. Of course, we will return!!!!

The restaurant was very empty. We were sat in the center of the room under a beautiful chandelier. The establishment is old and so are several of their service customs and menu items. The prices were very high for the quality of food we received. We will not be returning.

We had a large group -- 15 and were able to use the private room upstairs. It was perfect-- felt like we were in our own dining room in a beautiful old townhouse. The food was excellent and service was great.

Barbetta is the ultimate Italian classic being the oldest Italian restaurant in the city. Their Piedmontese specialties are legend such as the bagna cauda. Service is impeccable and the value is great in such a charming welcoming setting1

DON’T GO: We wanted to order spaghetti 20 $ from the menu, but they said we had to order a bigger portion at 34 $ !! Food was ok, but ambience and service very old fashioned… Once we asked for the bill, they wouldn’t want to give us back the change. We had to insist severasl times…

A wonderful experience at a classic New York restaurant. Elegant dining room with excellent service and the food was delicious. The fixed price lunch menu is a great deal but even the regular menu items are well priced considering the quality of the establishment. We would come again.

I made reservations for Saturday dinner after theatre matinee. The weather turned surprisingly warm for a November evening and we were able to be seated in the magical garden. Everthing was perfect!

Barbets is a beautiful and charming restaurant located in a pre war building near to the theatre district. The restaurant and outdoor garden has a charm unmatched by other restaurants in the area. There was a piano player adding to the evening enjoyment. The Prefix dinner was delicious and provided a variety of choices. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and ambience of Barbetta .

Second time dining in their lovely garden patio. A yummy, relaxing lunch. Good service, too. The scallops crusted with potato were to die for. Mushroom risotto, too. Started with house-cured salmon, light and delicious.

Didn’t love it. There was no indication that the pre theatre menu would be the only thing available and not the main menu. Mains included my rabbit which was good but slightly dry. Pounded chicken which was also overcooked and an unimaginative swordfish. Nothing was memorable here.

Pre-theatre menu offered many options and good value. Such a special and historic dining room!! Love the ambiance and old school dining experience. Only disappointment was the pounded chicken dish in the pre-fix. It was dry and didn’t have much taste. But the rest was wonderful!

The Barbetta online reservation process was easy to use. Due to the weather all seating was inside. There are no bad seats in Barbetta. The piano player took musical requests. The limited menu (due to theatre times) did not seem to be limited in any way. The meal was excellent. The salmon was cooked to perfection and it was a perfect size. It’s time to make sure my reservations are set for the holiday season.

If you like the feeling of a restaurant with old world character, Barbetta is for you. Food and service are excellent. The place looks a bit shabby but that adds to the charm. You can’t beat the prices for NY or anywhere.

This restaurant is a gem. The setting is elegant, but not pretentious, and the service is flawless. The maître’d was friendly and helpful as he guided us through the wine list and food choices. We had the prix fixe pré theater menu and were delighted by the number of choices for all three courses (appetizer, entree, dessert- also includes a salad and coffee). The food was beautifully prepared and delicious. A lovely experience.

We took advantage of the 3 course prix fixe lunch before theatre. The experience was superb! We were seated in the beautiful garden. The food was excellent. The service was attentive. The ambiance of the garden was just so relaxing and conducive to enjoying wine and lunch. What a bargain...what a find! We will be back! Thank you for a great beginning to a wonderful day.
