   I felt like I dined with strangers. Tables were 2” apart. Extremely loud and terrible acoustics. Couldn’t hear each other unless we yelled. Head waiter was a bit rude. Food was surprisingly good but probably won’t be back for overall experience.

   This is my go-to spot in NYC. The food is always fantastic and the service is always on point. The drinks are also delicious. It’s a beautiful space for any occasion.

   This restaurant has a good menu with solid food. I went with a friend and we shared a bunch of appetizers and the minute every plate was empty so rushed to grab it. The entire meal and drinks was exactly an hour - we felt very rushed. Not that we were going to linger, but it just seemed like they were pushing us out.

    Great food.. not nice to have our waiter offer us a free drink to give up table if we go to bar while looking at the desert menu.. I frequent the restaurant and found that unlike the usual decorum Overall a good time

    I ate Barbounia with friends during a Sunday Brunch. Perhaps it was a mistake, but the service was terrible. It wasn't like there was a staff shortage, although they had just recovered for two large groups of infants in addition to tables. But the waiters were all too busy chatting with the hostess and manager to bother with us. We sat without drinks (but with water - the busboys were great) and a visit for quite a while. I stood up and waved over someone over (the music was too loud to get their attention any other way. They took our order, and then disappeared. The appetizer spreads (meze) were great, the brunch entrees were serviceable, but not good. Good bloody marys however.

    The restaurant is very eclectic in design, very pretty but cavernous ceiling & tight seating, therefore very, very loud. The tables are extremely close; the man next to me could not back out his chair without me getting up & moving mine. That said, the food was only "ok". The cauliflower appetizer was excellent as was the fire roasted eggplant dip. the blue crab ceviche was overly vinegary to the point of bring inedible. I had the roasted chicken over freekah which was nice. My husband has the vegetables in terracotta which were barely cooked. The waiters were attentive but seemed like they were in a huge rush to get us in & out despite there being several open tables the entire time we were there. Wouldn't go back .

    Food is good but for some reason at Sunday brunch there was loud club music playing. Most of the patrons didn’t seem like they were there for a boozy brunch so it seemed a bit odd. Definitely made our brunch less enjoyable.

    Everything was great, however, the service is where I’m on the fence. The gentleman waiting our table came back about every 2 min to refill our water glasses and we kept having to tell him it was ok until about the 4th time I said it was ok and I’d do it myself (date and I were mid serious convo) and it was just one interruption after another. I felt like a child who’s mother wouldn’t get off their back for not finishing the water. While we appreciate the attentiveness, it would’ve been nice to be left alone as people are capable of pouring a beverage that’s from a bottle already on the table. One of the dishes we ordered were completely forgotten and basically we had to eat with with no accompaniment since we had finished the dishes that came out. Their attention to service is in the wrong areas. Let diners pour their own waters and just make sure the food comes out accordingly. Last thing, the tables are WAY to close together, to the point that we were both conservatively drinking so we didn’t have to deal with the hassle of having to moving the tables. Another diner sat 2 tables away from us who also had trouble getting into their booth and we had to help him get in, the table cloth almost came down with him along with the glasses and silverware because his legs were brushing against the table. I’d hate to be in this establishment if there were a fire. The food is great, but I think the lack of mobility, the over attentiveness, and at the same time lack of attention we will pass on dining here again. Everything was just uncomfortable.

    The food is delicious but it was so hot in the dining area (this was the middle of February) and so incredibly loud. I was sweating and needed to yell in order for others sitting at my table to hear me. It was not ideal.

    Love coming to Barbounia! Third visit here in 4 years as out of town guest. Never disappoints. Great atmosphere, fabulous cocktails and food! And the service is outstanding! Highly recommend

    Can't get much better than this. Delicious food, great service, we were seated on time and this place had a great ambiance/atmosphere. I don't usually post reviews, and positive ones are less likely to be written, but this is worth a mention because we had 9 people and everyone was truly impressed. I'd give this place 10 stars if I can.

    First time at this restaurant and we had a great experience. The wait staff were professional and attentive. The food was high quality and the selection of wines were outstanding. The noise level, including the background music, was loud; not a place for a quiet romantic dinner....

    Food was good, service was slow, noise was higher than expected. Ambient was entertaining. I don’t use to go out to popular restaurants on Friday nights because they use to be packed and the service is slower than usual. It was a nice experience overall but it would’ve been better if the service improve.
