Our philosophy of contemporary Spanish cuisine has its roots in the traditional Spanish Cocina – meaning, tapas to larger plates that include the recipes and ingredients from the Iberian Peninsula. Barsa's menu is designed to also pay tribute the avant garde movement of the Nueva Cocina Española in what we call contemporary Spanish gastronomy.
At Barsa, art is not optional. It’s our salt and pepper, we think Gaudi, dare Dali and play Picasso. We are housed in a 19th century heritage protected building where internationally acclaimed designer John Tong has recreated the atmosphere of Barcelona, while paying tribute to the City’s culture and immortalized artists.
Barsa story and concept was derived by Toronto native Aras Azadian’s passion and inspiration to recreate the atmosphere and experience of his time living in Barcelona and his travels through the Iberian Peninsula
We reserved on open table and the place was closed when we got there...
Like the 1/2 price wine bottle on Wednesday
And the food was excellent
Food was disappointing. Nice ambience though and great location.
The 4 of us had dinner and we sampled 6 tapas from the menu (no mains). We were underwhelmed by the taste of most tapas (charcuterie board, patatas bravas, grilled octopus). The service and ambiance is what made our evening somewhat enjoyable.
Always a great experience with Chef Andres everything tasted amazing! Thank you!
Food was very good. Sangria not too good. A little overpriced. Great ambiance and great music
We were the first customers in the morning, so wasn’t busy at all. Service was extremely slow and the food took so long to arrive (there were only 2 or 3 groups seated after us yet their food arrived first). By the time our orders did arrive, every dish was STONE COLD!!! As if it had been left sitting out for at least 20 mins. They kindly re-made all of our orders, yet even the second time round the food was still kind of lukewarm...
Very nice ambience, but the slow service & food temp was disappointing. I could understand if it was a lunch rush, or if the place was packed, but in this case it was not.
We went with a group of 6 and did the chefs selection tasting. The food was a bit underwhelming, strange timing and way too long between courses which caused the group to get full too quickly. By the end we had stacks of leftover food. The ambiance was vibrant so I'd recommend this not so much for the food, but drinks with perhaps a few tapas to accompany.
Good food. Fun atmosphere, with live guitar and rock walls. Would recommend and go again
Service was outstanding, foods and drinks magnificent. Fair prices too. I cannot recommend it enough
Just don’t do tasting menu, I ordered two tasting menu which mean to be five courses per person, but they only gave us five one person size dish and ask us to share, it’s ridiculous....
Great food and warm welcoming. Everything is perfect except if you're looking to a quiet place !
The ambiance and underground setting was beautiful. Sangria was so good , a lot of sangria options which is maybe one of the only reasons I’d go back . The food portions were small and very over priced, a friend ordered the chorizos for 30 and it was 3 tiny pieces with two small toasts ... I mean the meat was good but not worth the value. The paella fell short. You had to psych extra to have chorizo on it which it should come with it already. Wasn’t a traditional spain paella. Majority of my party thought the restaurant was ok, but we all agreed the sangria and wine were tasty. The servers was nice and every time they brought out a plate they explained what was on the dish. I would maybe go back for drinks only and possibly a small dish..
Fun, relaxed atmosphere with fantastic food and drinks- sangria is delicious and its a fun way to dine out - enjoying tapas.
More servers need to be hired for Saturday morning. Ours was very slow and the long delays were noted by everyone at the table.
We ordered couple of tapas which were tasty, but paella was very disappointing.
I dont normally eat salty and I hardly add salt on cooked meals but it was so bland I had to ask for salt & pepper.
We were a party of 3 and all my friends agreed with me. In fact they thought the restaurant substituted saffron with turmeric but I am not sure because I didnt taste anything... just bland rice in the texture of a risotto with a few pieces of seafood (a clam , two shrimps and couple muscles per person) which i think was overpriced aside from being flavourless..
When I asked our waitress for salt she realized I wasnt happy with the dish ; she immediately apologized and offered to have it remade but we didnt want to wait longer.
She must have informed this to the manager who also apologized and offered to bring us desserts to make up for it. I am not someone that tries to get free stuff by complaining and I am watching my calorie intake so I appreciated the offer but declined; he still brought two deserts which was kind of him and to be fair those were tasty like the tapas.
All in all we were very happy with the service , how nice they were and the general ambiance but we were so disappointed with the paella ( it was our main reason of choosing this restaurant) that we are not sure if we would recommend this place to anyone...
The food / service / atmosphere/ was magnificent
Would recommend to any one who enjoys great food with great service
Would have gotten a higher review but the service was terrible. My tables server continuously left us 15-20 minutes apart in-between our tasting menu orders. Further, my table has tickets for a show that evening, so we had to abruptly cancel our last tasting menu order and skip to the bill. Very disappointing.
Great place. We tried the tasting menu and red sangria. Had the best Paella and stuffed trout. Sangria is so yum too! Would definitely visit again.
Food was delicious, yet the gentleman that was our waiter lacked common service...
Love it! Wonderful Paella. A hot spot I go back to all the time with friends.
Great overall. Nice peoples, food and service was excellent!
The food is very good . The price is a bit high but it can be applied to all Spanish restaurants in the city.
Very nice place.
Food was great.
Service was good.
It was a group birthday party and we were excited to go because the location was so great. We were greeted and while I didn’t expect that added value of being greeted with a “who’s birthday is it”, as someone who also works in service, it wou have been a nice gesture
Regardless, we enjoyed a wonderful but very $$ cocktail and then met our group for dinner. The service was great only because they were attentive. No one tried to smile or ask how we liked the food or if we wanted anything special or had any Allergies. Which one of us did have and had to say twice that he had an allergy.
The titles of the food on the menu were tantalizing, but they did not live up to their name at all.
The portions were TINY! the grilled octopus only had two pieces and it was almost $20!
everything was very bread heavy and while I love bread, I didn’t feel like spending a fortune on wheat.
And the drinks were brutally pricey.
Needless to say, the wonders ambiance and music could not resonate with this visitor.
It’s just not worth it.
I think this restaurant has all the makings but needs to be a little less stingy on food and attentiveness.
Delicious food, great Sangria and nice wine options by the glass. Friendly service and a nice ambiance
Our waiter hardly acknowledged us - I will not be returning.
I have been here several times but never had this kind of experience.
I have travelled to spain as well as my mom and this is nothing like the dinning in spain.
Very overpriced, terrible customer service I felt robbed.
This was an absolutely incredible experience! We ordered the taster menu created by our waiter. The first dish was just amazing, and it only got better after that! Some of the best food we have both had in a long time!
Great service, food wasn’t as spectacular as it usually is, but management took care of us right away. Will definitely be back.
Knowledgeable staff, fantastic food, great atmosphere.
Wonderfully authentic Spanish tapas restaurant in a cozy, romantic atmosphere.
What a great meal! Love the paella here, and the butternut squash soup was exquisite!
Possibly the best tapas in Toronto. Try the tasting menu. Every dish was exceptional, and each dish complemeted the prior course.
I loved it, taste of Spain with a Toronto vibe. I would definitely go again
Great service, pleasant and not too noisy. Great seafood tapas.
Server did not explain tasting menu properly To us.
Wine was crazy expensive for not expensive wine. Food was amazing and atmosphere was great.
Had a lovely taps meal with my mother. Our server was lovely and very knowledgeable about the menu. Food and ambiance was perfect. Definitely would visit again.
Ordered 5 tapa plates with 2 beers, total cost $150 + tips. A touch pricy I think.
Que rico! We had dinner for 6, and all of us were delighted with the cuisine. It included a vegetarian main, grilled octopus, sausage platter, mussels in a lovely sauce, and a number of tapas, all tasty and well prepared. We all shared a plate of churros with a delicious peppery chocolate sauce. Table service was top-notch, friendly, fast and attentive Highly recommended. we will be back again!
Very good service, atmosphere, paella especially tasty!
