The food and service were outstanding. If you’re looking for a restaurant who truly cares about the dining experience and quality food this is your place. Our server went above and beyond, and the owner was even in the restaurant so he came over to check in. Go here!!! You won’t regret it!
The tasting menu was imaginative and delicious with very well paired wines. The service was efficient and informative. Graffiti in the washroom, which was meant to be art was not to my taste and didn't do justice to the otherwise tasteful decor
Excellent meal. Had the 6 course menu and every dish was creative, interesting, and delicious!
This is probably the most hipster restaurant i have dined in. The food and service are fantastic. My husband and i enjoyed the 4 course tasting menu and each course was delicious. The serves are about the right portion to give you a proper taste of the dish, and leave you feeling full at the end but not over-stuffed. The amuse bouche was a nice touch, and the wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The timings between courses was also spot-on. The prices reflect the high quality of the establishment.
Bauhaus is a very special place to enjoy some very fine dining. My son and I have enjoyed 2 of their 6 course dinner tastings and would recommend it highly to anyone that would appreciate a very unique dining experience.
We always go early in the evening so you can relax over the 2 hours it takes for the 6 courses.
Definately put Bauhaus on your to-do list for 2019!!
Great atmosphere, staff, and food.
Normally the food is really good here, however this time, after eating both of us experienced indigestion and the food did not taste fresh
This place was on another level. As a food enthusiast, this place was ahead of the curve.
Had a very enjoyable birthday dinner, loved the food, the service and the attention.
Was it by luck that we had a table closer to the east entrance where the noise was not
too loud? Will make sure with my next booking to get the same table again. I found
the music was a touch too loud as well.
Great and staff was very friendly
Love this place! Never understand any negative feedback about this restaurant, sans service, as bad service happens everywhere! The food is always amazing.
Food was very good, but our server was distracted. We always had to refill our water and when we paid, we had to tap her on the arm to get her attention to take back the machine. Tasting menu was also incredibly slow. Two and a half hours. Would be nice to have had warning it would be that long.
What is the point of making me choose what the occasion is if nobody at the restaurant cares to acknowledge it? Also, we spent most of the time waiting for the server to
- take our order
- bring out the food
- refill the water (he only refilled once when we were almost done with the main dish)
- ask if we want to take a look at the desert menu
- bring the bill
- bring the machine to pay with the credit card
Good food, great service, I will definitely comeback.
Amazing experience each time
We went there anticipating a fabulous experience and what we received was quite average, with a few glimmers of great potential. As far as the rating for "next generation of Diners Club 50 Best Discovery Series: I don't think so. I've been to others on the list. My goulash was excessively salty and fatty, even for beef shank. The place was empty except for us, 2 other couples and one single. With so many great choices in Vancouver....
You could not find traditional Germany foods in this restaurant. The material was healthy and the cooking was pretty good. However, my wife was still hungry after she finished the $80 four courses tasting menu.
We attended the special Norther German celebration of Grünkohl. Everything was outstanding! Please put the Rote Grütze on the regular menu!!! It was SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!
This was our third time at Bauhaus - first time we had the tasting menu with wine pairing, the second time the typically German dishes, and the third time a la carte. Bauhaus is our favourite restaurant in Vancouver, we can't recommend it highly enough. Can't wait to come back :-)
The food was excellent, both in composition and execution. Unfortunately, the service was very poor. Our server was basically MIA for our two-hour meal. Bread was promised (twice) and forgotten. My wine, which I specifically ordered to have with my appetizer, arrived 30 minutes after I ordered it and after I held off eating my cooling appetizer for 20 minutes. I wasn’t offered another drink with my main course. Dessert menus were left with us for 20 minutes until another host who had passed by our unattended table several times and took our order. And then we had no option when paying by interact but to leave a 20% tip (the minimum). Just so, so disappointing.
Interesting Dishes, friendly staff, a bit pricey for what the dishes are especially compared to other restaurants serving similar fare.
Very tasty foods and good service, my husband ordered potato soup that tasted the best he ever had, and the pasta with butter sauce and sable fish were excellent too.
Food tastes fine, wine was great. $300 for two people and we both left hungry. Could find better food with better techniques elsewhere.
We went for Valentine’s Day, and the set menu was fantastic. Everything was executed perfectly, and everything tasted amazing. We both enjoyed every course. Service was superb! We can’t wait to go back and try the regular menu.
Wonderful Valentine's Day menu with great food! Every dish is delicious, will definitely visit this restaurant in the near future.
Great tastings! Delicious wines paired with amazing food.
My wife and I had a great time, the food was good and the service was excellent.
Food was great but food took almost an hour to be served and they weren’t that busy.
Great room, great service, overpriced and overrated food.
Incredible food and service! Highly recommend
Both the wine and the food were served at perfect temperatures. The food was beautifully presented by the chef and extremely tasty. However the portion sizes (other than the dessert) were less than satisfying. The wait staff explained the food quickly as it was placed on the table and then disappeared. When asked later of ingredients they were unsure. The ambiance of the restaurant was cold and the techno pop music was relentless. It was difficult to relax. Although I have paid similar amounts for meals in other Vancouver restaurants and left feeling totally satisfied with the experience, at Bauhaus there just seemed to be something missing. I did not think the value for the money was there.
Great birthday celebration dinner!
We had a great night for my brothers 18th birthday! The service was amazing and the food was even better. Everyone thought by the end of the night to come back, recommend, and steal recipes from this restaurant. We will definitely be coming back here.
Pork roast is a must have.
The service was fantastic and knowledgeable and the owner visit to our table was very appreciated. We really enjoyed the German classic items on the menu and we’ll be going back to try the Chef’s menu.
Amazing food and service!
Can't wait to go back next time I am in Vancouver. Great food and friendly staff.
Significant time between the items being served which could be improved. The server made and error on describing one dish as trout when in fact it was a sturgeon. Some confusion came up from that perhaps temporary disappointment but all got resolved in the end.
The food was good. Atmosphere was good. Service was good. We went for the Dine Out Vancouver menu which was a tapas format. We were disappointed and annoyed that it took three hours to get all the courses to the table. Also found it odd that the owner of the restaurant stopped at our table to introduce himself in very casual clothing.
At first, the service was very disappointing. We had to wait 20min for our server to come by to introduce herself but when we mentioned the wait she was very apologetic and turned a bad experience to an amazing one. Originally we had wanted to go for the Dine Out Vancouver Menu but they did not have it, so we ordered off of the a la carte menu. Our server explained in detail the German Specialty menu and recommended the portions just right for our table. The food was impeccable. The sous vide Pork with mashed potato, red onion puree, and kale was so delicious! (I would eat a bucket of that kale!) The Schnitzel was well seasoned and came with cranberry sauce and potatoes. The only thing is that I wished it came with some sauce because it was a little dry. Overall it was a great experience with delicious food and I would definitely go back for more!
