Wife and I went for dinner. It was great. Some of the items were not what we expected but it was good nonetheless.
Very nice service. Good food. Comfy place. I’ll get back for sure.
Good experience overall, expensive but worth it.
Great service...great food
The server we had was especially friendly and attentive - really great service.
So nice to have innovative modern cuisine as well as exquisitely executed German comfort food on one menu.
Simply delicious. Will change your perception of German food - but they also have the classics if you are so inclined.
Was recommended to Bauhaus by a friend. Went to celebrate my wedding anniversary, and I wasnt disappointed at all. Staff was very pleasant and very thorough when describing each and every one of their beautiful dishes. My wife and I went for the winter tasting menu 6 course. Small, super tasty mouthwatering pieces of art. I tried some food that I thought I would never thought I would try, and i was pleasantly surprised that I liked it, like beef cheek and frogra. They have many German classics, with decent portions. I would recommend bauhaus to anyone who wants an experience and who enjoys good food.
Fantastic food, great service and nice atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would definitely come back again.
Appreciate that concern for celiac. Overall, it was very good experience , wine paring are outstanding. But it was some noise at the bar. So i give 4 stars for ambient.
Great wine pairings. Outstanding presentation, flavour was thoughtful and creative
It was good!
The ambience and the interior was spacious. This was our first time at the restaurant and there was a definite wow factor.
We were here for our anniversary. The server was knowledgeable and pleasant. Food beautifully plated and tasted great.
Our only complaint was that the service was slow. The dining room wasn’t busy but dinner took over 3hrs. We were on course 3 of the 6 course tasting menu 2-hours in! We were sitting with empty plates.. seemed like our waitress was very busy as she was serving so many tables at once. And we also served a dish with something I was allergic (pear in the sturgeon) which we made the kitchen aware of at the beginning of service.
Besides those hiccups the dinner was overall pleasant.
The salt grinder they gave us was dispensing so much salt, that you spoiled your dinner, before you could stop. The pepper grinder had the opposite problem. It was empty.
The appetizers were kind of lame (burrata didn't contain hardly any burrata, the scallops were cold), the main course was delicious, the desserts again kind of uninspired.
To put it simply ...we were disappointed with our visit. The food was ok but below our expectations. Our server was nice however the atmoshere was not inviting and felt cold. Not returning.
Food was outstanding!
We were here on a special occasion that was clearly stated upon reservation.
There was no acknowledgement of occasion ( not even to say happy birthday)
The food was ok and service was ok, however I will say as a high priced Michelin star we expected quite a bit more from them.
Small details would have gone a long way.
The food overall was well plated but lacked in overall experience and specialty.
We both had the six course menu for $99 each. Everything was fine, nothing was spectacular.
Amazing everything. Service (a lovely blend of professional and friendly), atmosphere, good, beverages. The only 2 minor things were limited vegetarian options (the tuna was great though), and the very weird and unfitting decor of the men's washroom.
Bauhas has amazing ambiance and environment, and is a very spacious interior. The restaurant owner came to personally greet us and ensure that we were having a great time. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented.
Still much to do for a Michelin star. Amuse was the best. Such multi layered taste is yet to be accomplished for the mains.
Excellent food and very attentive staff. Clean modern decor
Very - very load restaurant with even louder disco music, had to ask Mgmt to turn volume down, staff wine training is needed - with 2 acknowledged chefs in the kitchen, I expected a better fixed 4 course dinner - dishes had components that was not complementing each other’s flavor - restaurant has fallen short in their attempt to create a gastro experience, perhaps concentrating on good German food would have me return
This was our first time at the restaurant and we had a wonderful time. We went there because I heard on the radio it was Vancouver's #1 most romantic restaurant and seeing that it was our 40th Anniversary it seemed to be a perfect fit.
However I was seated facing the bar and did not find it exceptionally romantic. My husband was facing the window overlooking the trees and historic building across the street, we should have switched seats 😕
Our waitress was very friendly and at the end of the meal were given a complimentary glass of champagne.
The owner came over and introduced himself and was very friendly and welcoming!
The only one thing that I would have changed was the little appetizer they gave us at the beginning. It was such a ridiculously small amount I would of rather not have had it at all. I believe it would be beneficial to the restaurant to at least double the amount as it almost seemed a bit insulting to us.
Overall it was a nice evening.
Wonderful experience. Chef Tim and David outperformed one more time themselves and the service from Damien and Luke was par to the quality of the meal. I have tried most Michelin stat restaurants in Paris and I still put Bauhaus as my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. Well done!
This was such a disappointment! We are foodies and anticipated a much better meal.
I had the corn soup with mussels and could not detect any corn flavor. My main was the pasta with mushrooms and the pasta was touch - the mushrooms were nearly raw and the total taste was not savory. My husband had the rib roast - the meat was very fatty and lost it's appeal after two bites. We shared the dessert - the chocolate rib on top of the shortbread cookie. I've had much better! The shortbread seemed soft and the chocolate was sub par. Too bad to spend so much money on such a poor meal.
Great food and service. Nice to see the boss still making the rounds and chatting with patrons.
Outstanding food. funky / slightly dodgy locale. Hip interior. But not cheap. I’d 100% come back again with my spouse or for work - but not with my family of 8!
Extraordinary. One of the best meals in the city by any standard. A flawless 4-star environment and fascinating culinary presentations that go well beyond the menu descriptions. Old school classy vibe.
Amazing food - both on the West Coast inspired menu and the traditional German dishes. Great and friendly service who were attending to us diligently. It was an unbelievable meal and all around wonderful evening. I highly recommend it!
Absolutely Amazing. We always do the tasting menu with wine pairing.
Doesn’t live up to the promise. Pretentious with attention to detail lacking. Pricing is at higher end of market but the experience falls short.
The best eating experience in a 20 week trip to Canada but fails to meet international standards.
The owner came to each and every table to greet his customers, which I find a welcoming gesture. The food was creative to say the least and you will come to appreciate the creativity and knowledge of the chef. The food was nicely put together and the waiters and waitresses did a great job explaining the composition of the food, which make the dining experience quite enjoyable.
The tasting menu is amazing, and it changes regularly so you never get bored
Everything was fine except the time we had to wait for the food and between dishes. The service was very profesional and the food was very good
The unexpected is always THE best experience; I had read up on Bauhaus and chose it as one of two restaurants for our stay in Vancouver; it was one of the best experiences in all our travel out of the States and near our home in NYC; best value tasting menu and wine pairings were different and superb; thank you Kevin, thank you Vancouver; you are so lucky!
This is seriously a Michelin ready Restaurant!
I love traveling for food and so happy we had reservations here. The food was spot on. The flavors and textures were a great combination.
You really can taste the passion these chefs have for their food.
This is definitely not a place you’ll want to miss while on Gastown in Vancouver.
We did the 6 course tasting menu.
Our waitress Amber was very upbeat and on her toes the whole evening.
Don’t miss out!
We went to celebrate our daughter‘s birthday. We all took the tasting menu, one vegetarian (ordered the day before).
It was astonishing good. I had great expectations but it was even better.
Our waiter was the best waiter we had experienced for very long. He was knowledgeable, easygoing, kind and giving exactly the right amount of info. Very impressing.
A dinner to remember. We will be back.
The food was ok. Kind of greasy. Service was the worst. Never checked on us. Always waiting on them to come even though there was only 3 tables there.
As always Bauhaus was marvelous. The food was delicious, the staff and service was charming and the attention of management to customer concerns was on the mark.
Perfectly good food but I was expecting something a bit more "wow". The server forgot our bread. The meal was fine but not exceptional.
