Bauhaus Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food... it’s clear the staff are passionate about food.
Beautiful space with the brick wall and decor.
It is so spectacular to go to restaurant where the staff are so so so knowledge about the food and wine!!
Nowell (sp ?) and Amber are superb at their jobs!!
I return often for delish good lunch with wonderful service
Food was very authentic German. Well presented and very tasty.
Extremely friendly staff very quick service,,, just ask and you will receive.
A bit pricey.
Excellent food! Contemporary atmosphere.
Above average but overpriced. We had wanted to try the tasting menu but my wife has a dairy allergy. Their site says that the are happy to accommodate but they were not able to do so because everything on the tasting menu has dairy.
So, we ordered a la carte. Everything was prepared nicely and tasted fine but in general the food was uninspired. Not what I was expecting for the price.
Amazing food and impeccable service make this a must for anyone living in or visiting Vancouver. Such a great dining experience.
The appetizer was amazing, by far the best dish. The authentic German food felt like something they felt like had to be on the menu but didn’t want to put too much effort into. It tasted like an overpriced piece of meatloaf. Nothing special. I think the tasting menu would have been better as that’s where the chefs creativity goes. The waiter could have given better descriptions of the food items as the menu said “Rouland” and he didn’t explain anything about it.
Very good restaurant with great food. It would be great if the dishes were less expensive.
Food is ok, just ok. And for $200 CA I would have expected fabulous, great amazing.
Great food/service,.... I did go the following evening on a Saturday.
Next time in town, It is a must,..
Tasting menu was awesome - just one criticism - mention on the menu that it is elk tartare - would have chosen a la carte had I known ahead of time.
Service was fantastic and all of the staff were very knowledgeable and personable.
Great service,..... Kiley at the bar area was pleasant.
Food & preparation comparable to great restaurants in Montreal.
I did return the night afterwards,..... another great experience.
Sat. Night Birthday dinner for 2. It was unannounced. We frequent nice restaurants all over the city regularly, and were surprised to find this gem of a place. Bauhaus is a restaurant that is
'WINNING'. In the heart of Gas town... Drinks: Loved the Australian Red selection, and couple of the French Whites. Possibly one of the best I've tasted for the price-point. The meal portions are also perfect for the price. Classic German infused with earthy flavours. (Gotta try the Schnitzel) The Owner is heavily vested in his business, and it shows. He comes out to speak with each table and customer (full-on eye-contact) couple times throughout the service. Finally, our server, she was kind, informed, listened carefully to what we were asking, and provided quality suggestions about the meals, and drinks. Super impressed.
Our meal, the chef's tasting menu, was simply superb! Bauhaus gets our highest recommendation!
We had a great diner last night. The food was fantastic and you can tell they are making a big effort to please. We had the German dishes and the boar appetizer was quite impressive
Had a great meal with some authentic German dishes . The wine list is always changing but the wine we chose was great . Damian our waiter was fantastic.
Service was good, nothing amazing.
Food was good.
Plating was amazing.
Food is delicious ,but service is so rough.
I've only had 1 meal there and there were very few other people so it is hard to check some of the above. I would recommend it for delicious food, great service and imagination (the hickory smoke under glass was terrific.
I think that if you offer a lunch special, you should make it more than $22 and offer more than Spezl cheese and beer. To come for a lunch, especially in order to try the restaurant and be offered such a thing is ridiculous. Other than that - Wunderbar.
I am leaving these comments for the restaurant only. I do not want them re-printed, nor my name/nick-name used.
Didn't wow us.
Great food incredibly well presented exceptional in Vancouver a must
Every time I dine at Bauhaus I wonder why I do not dine here every week!
The food is exceptional!
The flatware and glassware is exceptional.
The menu always has exceptional seasonal dishes as well as well kept favourites.
The serve ....exceptional!!!
And today at lunch Amber was extra exceptional!!!!
Bauhaus did not disappoint. Food and Service as good as always. This time the chance to chat a bit longer with the owner.
We had the Schnitzel, and as Germans, let me tell you: you get the real thing. Try a Austrian white along. Looking forward to be back next year.
My wife and I had the Chef's menu and it was terrific. Small servings but had six courses. Had duck pate, elk tartare, mushroom appy, halibut, beef tenderloin and white chocolate dessert. All was very good. The coffee crusted tenderloin was by far the best. Attentive and informed but not over the top service, great wine pairings for each course. Highly recommend eating here. Pricy but not too crazy.
the testing menu is excellent！
Very cool room and great food!
The food was mostly good. They forgot to provide cutlery for the first course and forgot to put the mushrooms on one of our plates. The service seemed a bit disorganized.
Looking forward to coming back
Tasty food, artfully presented. Very good service and a unique, cool atmosphere.
Enjoyed the food
Very personal with Uwe visiting the tables
Menu seemed too short for options
High ceilings created and empty feel, could have had more seats in the room
Great service and great restaurant! Love the Erdinger on tap!
We had the Tasting Menu and it is amazing. Very good service and very good ambient. Couldn't be better.
It was way above what I expected I would recommend it all my friends and business associates.
The weinerschnitzel was outstanding. Service was also outstanding. Will definitely go back the next time we are in Vancouver.
We were very curious about the food at Bauhaus, as we are both European and have recently lived in Europe, where we enjoyed Spätzle and Wiener Schnitzel quite often.
The food at Bauhaus was excellent! Definitely the best part of the evening.
However, the service was robotic, not authentic at all, and we were interrupted so many times during our conversations that it was quite annoying, and our waiter left a lot to be desired as well.
The ambiance, or should I say lack thereof was slightly off as well.
Unfortunately our overall experience was not nearly as enjoyable as we had hoped.
Serves German food which is heavy in meat, and starch with few vegetables and salad.
My friend & were very disappointed with the quality of food. We ordered Beef Stroganoff which was basically chopped pieces of cooked beef with a sauce that had mushrooms, & bits of chopped pickles & beets. Beef Stroganoff is beef cooked in its own gravy until it is tender & succulent. The accompanying Spaetzl was very good. The service was good and Bauhaus is a lovely restaurant. It was the dish that was an issue.
The food incredible. The service prompt. The courses perfectly timed. Even the owner did rounds of the tables and made recommendations. I will return. I encourage others to go.
This is already my fifth visit to Bauhaus. It has become my favorite fine dining restaurant in Vancouver. The food, the service, the ambiance. Not too many restaurants in Vancouver can match Bauhaus.
