Bauhaus Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Waitress was funny . Food was good. The owner came around and talked to the tables . All these little things made the experience quite a lovely, enjoyable night.
Everything was amazing, the wine list had a large selection, the staff were knowledgable and very welcoming. We were early for our reservation, but they were able to seat us right away. The food was a whole other experience, you could taste and see all the passion that goes into each creations. 5 stars on every aspect. Thank you
Everything was amazing. The tasting menu was incredible- interesting pairings and full of surprises... and the entire staff clearly loves food and are there because of a deep passion.
First time been there, great experience. We ordered the beef carpaccio as starter, we both love it, the icecream cheese was perfect with the beef. The duck tasted better then the beef tenderloin, the main were great overall. If had more choice for the dessert, that would be excellent.
One of the best experiences I have had! Food was delicious!
The food throughout the night tasted great. Wonderful atmosphere.
Amazing food ! Everything we had was done perfectly . Would love to go back !
Went for my husbands birthday, had an amazing meal and very good service.
Went here as the fine dining conclusion to our Vancouver trip. Was deciding between here and Hawksworth.
Overall, three stars because it was just okay.
Staff wasn’t incredibly helpful and didn’t really engage us as I’d expect fine dining wait staffs to do so. Most of our questions were met with terse answers, not offering much in the way of insight or advice.
Food in my opinion was mediocre.
We ordered off the German comfort section, after seeing elk and lamb on the tasting menu, two meats that we aren’t particularly fond of.
The German comfort section of the menu is a modern take on classic German dishes.
We had Brussels sprouts and cheese spatzel as sides and as the main courses, we had beef brisket with red cabbage and fried potatoes and the schnitzel.
Nothing particularly extraordinary about the brussels but felt like both main dishes fell short. The schnitzel was medium temp and a bit tougher than I thought it should be. The beef brisket was also room temp and the red cabbage flavor certainly was more pronounced than I’d want. Lastly I thought the fried potato was going to have the consistency similar to a Japanese potato croquette but was surprised to find a mochi like consistency.
Three stars and just a fair dining experience.
The food was spectacular. Quite creative, and excellent harmony and synergism of ingredients. Delicious and unique flavors. Excellent German beer selection. Attentive yet relaxed service. The best meal I have had so far in Vancouver.
We had an extremely enjoyable meal at Bauhaus. Seated at the bar so we could dine and share next to one another, the staff was enjoyable and fun to interact with. Food was exquisite. The Sauerbraten, red cabbage, and potato dumplings were the best we have had. The beef melted to touch and was so flavorful while the red cabbage was balanced and extremely good. We will very happily return.
Delicious food that exceeded my expectations. We had the 6-course tasting menu along with the wine pairings. The elk dish really surprised me as it was cooked and flavoured to perfection. The dessert was superb as well. Definitely recommend for a special occasion. It was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
Excellent value n quality
The tasting menu 4 courses was amazing. Enough food and the wine pairing was absolutely incredible!
We came up from Houston for Christmas. This restaurant was outstanding both in service and food. Great atmosphere, amazing food.
We will be back.
Great experience, the restaurants kitchen is open so you can see how all is prepared...very nice food and great location.
Spouses parents were in town...perfect setting!
The food was unbelievable. Some had chefs menu, others had individual plates. It was all amazing. Knowledgable staff, great food and very acommodating. Will be back.
Perhaps I am not as sophisticated as I imagined myself to be. I had the 7 course tasting menu. I was underwhelmed by 3 of the servings. I would like to try the entrees during my next visit.
I am a bit confused ( and honestly put off) about how some of the male servers are allowed to dressed. I believe that the restaurant is trying to project a relaxed atmosphere and respect this.
However there is something about a shirt that is not pressed (nor fitting) with the wearing of sneakers that undermines the experience. I don’t think it shows respect to the kitchen or the customer. (Kinda projected ‘I’m too cool’ but it was basically a very slouchy look)
The female staff were dressed appropriately. Just the right amount of tailoring for the venue, food and presentation.
The Bauhaus visit was a excellent culinary experience. The joy of great food.
Food was very good service was good and my clients really enjoyed it.
We went for our son's 23rd B-Day as it is a family tradition, and we were really pleased! The ambiance, the food, the service, and the venue were excellent! The wait staff was on top of their game, knew the tasting menu inside and out, so they were able to really establish each dish as we were served. The mixture of food, sauces and the ingredients meant for a really tasteful forkful with each bite. Couldn't be more pleased with the whole meal. I would recommend for anyone to give this restaurant a try. Haven't seen a tasting menu this diverse since Connor Butler was around.
A pretty nice place to eat if you got money to burn. Entrees meticulously plated, amuse bouche was nice, good German beers. Expensive, small entrees. Sides where underwhelming, brussel sprouts especially. Service is decent but very casual. The art on the walls sucks; pretentious po-mo graffiti piece demonstrates zero sensitivity for, or understanding of the neighborhood the place gentrifies. Over all underwhelming. Fine dining price without the attention to detail.
We had a lovely dinner here over the weekend. Made a reservation via Openable and the only times available were 5 and 9:15, so we went for the later seating. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by friendly people right and left...all the staff was extremely attentive and professional. We started with cocktails (see photos)..both were very tasty! The brought us some delicious bread with smoked salt on the butter - so damn good....we couldn't stop eating it!!
We ordered the tasting menu and we brought our own bottle of wine (they do allow this with a $40 corkage fee). All the courses were good. I did expect more - having eating in fine restaurants all over the world and for the price....we were actually hungry a few hours later.
All in all we enjoyed our evening. The cuisine was defiantly a contemporary form of German food. The decor was stylish, the lighting was dimmed nicely, and if your looking for a romantic setting with quiet dining this is your place!
The restaurant was very noisy.
At one point in the evening one of the dinning guests stood up on his chair and hollared out to his dinning party in a very loud voice while raising his glass.
The “runners” were far to aggressive in taking away our plates before we were done our food.
The food was excellent. I did the tasting menu with was a great show of the chefs style and local ingredients. The shining star was Keely. I sat at the bar for dinner and she took amazing care of me. Not only was she super friendly and knowledgeable but she was extremely detail oriented. My glass was never empty and a finished course never sat in front of me. She did all this while still making drinks for the whole place. She even wrote me down a list of other restaurants I should try in town.
The restaurant was noisy like a bar. Tables very close to each other, almost no space to walk between.
From start to finish, an amazing experience! Upon entering the restaurant, the servers recommendations on the menu, the delicious meals.. exceptional! Thank you!
Great food, great service really nice ambiance.
Best fine dinning in Vancouver. Expert service, Beautiful presentation, food is prepared to perfection even a live piano player in the background. This restaurant is all about precision and execution.
The food and service were more than expected and just great overall
The place is definitely a hipster vibe but not pretentious
The young staff was very professional and friendly
Food was exquisitely prepared, both my pheasant and my wife's wiener schnitzel. Very much a special occasion restaurant.
Interesting take on German food. Ordered four course tasting meal that include Hamachi, lamb, elk and dessert with a bottle of British Columbia wine. Very good flavors but expensive for the amount of food. For my spouse and I, we were fine with the quantity but if you like bigger portions you may need more. Excellent and attentive service from our waiter and staff. In trendy Gastown neighborhood close to waterfront. Next time I would order more traditional offerings like schnitzel, rouladen or sauerbraten to see how these taste. Overall, an enjoyable meal if you want to spend the money.
This was our second time to Bauhaus. I can only say it was even better than the first. We experienced 8 different sets of flavours, all were amazing. This is definitely now one of our top 3-4 restaurants in Vancouver.
Second time to Bauhaus, this time for our daughter's birthday. We all really loved everything about the meal. Everything was impeccable but what stood out was the buttermilk cocktail, the duck terrine and the steak my daughter ate. Loved it all. The schnitzel is amazing too. I cannot wait to return.
Wife and I visit a lot of local restaurants. We enjoyed the food and service. Well done!
Came here for date night with my wife. The owner checked on us even before our waiter came, and he was very friendly and modified the tasting menu for us due to dietary restrictions. Waiter was also attentive and recommended a beautiful wine. I recommend the 6 course tasting menu for best bang for your buck, as Bauhaus is pricey for Vancouver. Food was excellent and modern, not traditional German at all. Tip-they now have valet parking, which is great if you are driving in to gastown.
Thank you for a relaxed and tasty evening.
Our first visit to your restaurant was in July with friends. Loved the stroganoff and was dreaming of an encore!
We are from Lethbridge, Ab and we had my brother join us from Tacoma and introduced our local Vancouver friends to your establishment.
Everyone enjoyed the evening immensely and look forward to the next visit.
Awesome service and we especially loved Uwe visiting and chatting and sharing a taste of the wild duck!
Excellent food... it’s clear the staff are passionate about food.
Beautiful space with the brick wall and decor.
It is so spectacular to go to restaurant where the staff are so so so knowledge about the food and wine!!
Nowell (sp ?) and Amber are superb at their jobs!!
