Nick is a superstar host
If you’re looking for a good steak, this is a place to have on your list. We both had the petit filet - it was cooked perfectly, but did not necessarily stand out above the other top Chicago steakhouses. What did standout was the crab cake and their sourdough bread. Both were fresh, memorable and delicious! Our experience was diminished a bit by our table - there was barely any room between the chair and the table and was right by the front door.
Everything was wonderful. I would say it’s on our top 5 list of Chicago restaurants.
I would definitely go back, my only downside was our table was 12 inches from the table to the right and 12 inches to the left. I’m not crazy about sitting that close to other patrons.
Loved it! Service was spot on. Menu selection was great. Music programming was so smart! Yummy pie!
I even dont know what to start with.
First, my husband made appointment at 9.45pm. We would love earlier time but my spouse was said you had to make reservation a month ahead.
We arrived 45 mins earlier and were refused to change the time. I took my phone and made easy reservation through open table app at 9.15pm. Can you imagine our frustration?
Anyways we got seated and ordered food based on waiters recommendations. My salmon was very well cooked, no complaints. However my husband's aged steak was oversalted, french fries was not on a top as well.
Wine and dessert were ok. We would not go back to that place.
Poor customer service, very badly handled our situation.
In conclusion, our anniversary date night didnt exceed our expectations.
Was celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday. Overall great experience
Here for my birthday with my family. Excellent from start to finish. Favorite restaurant in every respect. If I could get a reservation every time I wanted one I would eat here more often!!!
Bavette's is typically great, but this past weekend they were a little backed up, so we ended up standing at the bar until 9:25 or 9:30 for our 9 p.m. reservation ... just long enough to get annoyed. Once we ordered we again waited for an insanely long time for food to arrive. So the service wasn't great due to long wait times.
Otherwise, the ambience and food were really nice. We had steak of course, but also tried the crab cake, which was the best I've ever had. Same goes for the sides of corn and mashed potatoes. Really delicious!
This was our second visit to Bavette's. The food was very good, but the service and atmosphere was lacking. We were seated in the lower level which lacks the main level ambience and has very low lighting (I literally needed a flashlight to read the menu). Service was slow. . . waited ten minutes for our server to take a drink order and ended up canceling the second bottle of wine for our table as it arrived after dinner was over and the table was being cleared.
Waiter was attentive and not too overbearing. Food was top notch and very happy with our experience overall. Bavettes is my girlfriends favorite restaurant and I have yet to have a poor experience
Highly recommend, crowded, little loud but cool experience
We celebrated a 71st birthday at Bavette’s. It was a wonderful dining experience. Excellent food and service.
Took my husband out for Valentines Day. Really loved the food and wine. We started with Shrimp Dijon. Husband had Dry Aged Ribeye. I had pork chop - best one I’ve ever had... better than recent ones at Ditka’s and Perry’s. Loved the Rignana Chianti. My biggest issue is the lightning. Literally unable to read menu at bar and at the table. I’m not that old and seems like an easy fix. Either make the font bigger and bolder... or turn up the lights.
Really well made food! The gold brick chocolate was outstanding! Bone in filet cooked to perfection. My boyfriend wanted to share his meal with me but he eats his steak rare while I prefer med well. They cut off a piece fir me, sent it back and cooked it to literal perfection. It was heavenly!
