What Insiders Are Saying
More comfortable than a MINI Cooper, Beatrix is a casual and versatile restaurant in River North.
it was amazing!!
Always a pleasure
The food was really good and our server was helpful and attentive. I always think of it as a place for brunch, but the dinner was excellent,
Best friends birthday - Louis the GM is unreal
Love Beatrix! Our server, Chris was fabulous! Loved the Super Crunch Salad and had a seasonal tea...maple, cinnamon Matcha latte with oat milk...so good!
The restaurant was empty when I arrived 45 minutes early for a reservation. Over 30 tables were available and we were made to wait until our reservation time before being seated. The tables remained open. We could have eaten early and freed up a table during for their busier time.
Have eaten at Beatrix a couple of times & it is always good!! Fresh & healthy eating!
My daughter and I had reservations for 10:45 and we arrived a little early but were seated earlier than our reservation. The restaurant has a very energetic vibe, super crowded for a Sunday morning. We were sat in the very crowded dining area/shared couch. But, when my daughter explained to the server that she was Vegan, the server made suggestions and the meal was wonderful. The egg white omelette was light, fluffy and fresh and the vegan meal was equally as fresh. They did not rush us out, enjoyed our experience very much.
Went for brunch. Our food and waitress were great (don't miss the pastries). But we had to wait 30 minutes for a table for four even though we HAD A RESERVATION. What is the point of making one if we're going to wait anyway?
The food was delicious. We had the pork and ravioli and it was good. They also had some good craft beers to pick from. The reasturant was loud and lively but made for a cool downtown experience.
I'd been to Beatrix for lunch mid-week a few times and decided to make it a special-occasion dinner for myself and my husband on a Saturday night. The restaurant was crowded so we were tucked into a window seat near the bar, which was away from the large private party in the main dining room. I'll say we were a little close to the high-boy bar table next to us, but otherwise, the spot was perfect and provided fun people-watching. Our server was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly- but not overly-so, and attentive. The salads - I had the arrugala/avocado/pear and my husband had the Thai - were fresh and delicious. My husband had szechuan chicken and I had chicken bebe as entrees. Both were cooked to perfection, plated beautifully, and were portioned to be just-satisfying. We indulged in coffees and desserts, well worth the calories for the chocolate cake and caramel pie. Seriously well-worth. Overall this was a lovely evening and I'd gladly recommend for something not too fussy, pretty, and well-done.
Service was slower than usual
This was our second visit to Beatrix. Drinks and wine selection are good. Enjoyed The Chardonnay and the pink champagne by the glass. A little disappointed with the salmon. It sounded good, but it was dry and dull, served with small corn tortillas and slaw for $24. Caramel cake was great, however.
I had the "supernatural salad" and while it did not walk on water it was amazing. It was one of THEE best salads I've ever had in my life and that is saying a lot. The flavors were great and it wasn't too heavy on the dressing. Your coconut macaroons were incredible along with your "gluten free" cookie that was loaded with chocolate and coconut.
What a place. Only wish they had one in the southern twin cities, I'd be there weekly!
Our server, Brady, was so great and helped up navigate the menu. And they have oat milk! Perfect for an hour long business lunch.
Absolutely fabulous. Great salads that are fresh and imaginative. Wonderful coffee, creative baked fresh daily bakery. Beatrix is a true gem!! Highly recommend!
We love the $5.00 wine pours! The food is great, too.
Everything was very pleasant. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, unfortunately i cant remember his name
Beatrix was a great experience. We made reservations and we were a little late but they were very accommodating. It was marathon weekend and they were not overly busy and service was great. The food and drinks were good. If your in Chicago looking for a good brunch spot this is a great choice!
The pastries are fantastic. Would recommend a reservation - we had one, and were seated promptly. Others came in to the news of 1+ hour waits. We like this place a lot.
Delicious! Unique menu choices plus traditional fare.
I didn't love the menu. Thought it was OK but not terribly interesting. The Albarino was delicious!
It was my first time at the restaurant and I really enjoyed it! The spicy chicken tinga is delicious.
My first visit to Beatrix was fantastic! I loved my Chile Verde Enchiladas brunch entree and also had an angel food cake muffin that was delish. Would definitely go here again!
The service is usually good. This woman was an unfortunate exception.
Overall a good place, the menu is heavily biased towards sandwiches which is expected for lunch.
We made a reservation for eight people, when we showed up we found out that three of us were supposed to share two armchairs. My colleague had to sit on a hard edge between two armchairs. Not cool.
Amazing atmosphere. The food was very fresh and well prepared. Loved the banana joe coffee.
Brilliant - best breakfast option That is hzvr found
Very good experience
The menu gets more and more creative. For this brunch, Lemon Pancakes with lemon syrup were excellent. As the server said, they are more like a souffle shaped like pancakes.
The Pot Roast and Egg sandwich was well received.
"Eggs your Way" were ordered poached. They were done perfectly and cleverly served in a separate bowl.
Service was particularity enthusiastic and greatly contributed to the enjoyment of the meal.
Food was good
Server and manager good
Hostess a bit snippy
Best brunch place
Great service and delicious food! Will definitely be going back!
The service was great!! Absolutely loved the food and the fact that there were multiple vegan and gluten free options. We did have a little wind at our table, but the food and the service made up for it.
Speedy, friendly service. I was expecting more dinner menu options, but was very satisfied with my order. Somewhat noisy, especially since we were seated by kitchen. Pork shank fell off the bone and paired well with roasted peaches. Steak chimmichurri had just the right amount of spice. Fun people watching since there are two walls of windows.
Went for a birthday brunch. Made reservation 3 weeks out (a must have). My guests said it may be the best brunch she’s had. The cauliflower grits and kale salad were amazing. Baked goods out of this world.
We were celebrating a new phase of life and Beatrix is a favorite of the celebrant. I do not like their food but made the reservation because the night wasn’t about me.
Waitress was terrible - inattentive. Didn’t honor my points. Disappointed and am a regular
The burger patty was super dry. I asked them to cook it medium, but it was well done. What a waste. The blackberry lychee lemonade was good, but the glasses are small and there are no refills.
