   Chef Alexis was incredible. He helped us celebrate our daughter’s birthday with the perfect mix of humor, kindness, and witty charm. We actually remembered each other from a visit nearly a year ago, and the energy was just as great this time around. I really appreciated his attentiveness and just the right touch of light sarcasm—it made the whole experience feel fun and memorable. Even the moments of “hotness” became part of the comedy, which we loved. The wagyu options on the menu were top-tier, especially the American ribeye. Chef Alexis prepared it perfectly. My entire family was pleased—not just with the food, but with the overall vibe. We’ll absolutely be back—and next time, we’re requesting Chef Alexis or Alex :). No question.

   We waited a long time for the cook to come. The meat portions are small - do NOT order the fried rice with Wagyu beef - as it is a very small portion of meat that you pay $21.00 for. The seafood melody was also disappointing as I had to hunt to see if the scallops were in there - and I guess they were. Finally, IF you have a birthday notice - look on the email as it says WAY down the disclaimers that it is only good Monday - Thursday for dinner - and I went on a Sunday not knowing the $30.00 coupon was invalid until the check came. Check before you go in to order.

   Food was great as always. 6 ppl shared three orders of the special Waygu setting. Disappointment was due to the almost hour wait between ordering drinks and putting in our lunch order to when the chef actually got to our table. Aside from that. Food was great!

   We went to Benihana to celebrate a birthday because I’ve heard it’s a great experience and unfortunately, were sorely disappointed. Our chef did not put on the “show” that Benihana is known for (and that you pay for), we found ourselves watching the chef at the next table over as he was putting on the show that Benihana is known for. You also cannot understand a word he says. Others at our table were unable to understand him as well. The food is mediocre at best, so $60 steaks and $20 drinks is waaaay too much. While I understand the prices are reflective of the whole experience, our experience was not great. We left feeling disappointed.

   When we were first sitted the waitress asked if we had a birthday coupon, I asked what that was and she informed us it was something we needed to sign up for prior. I was never told about at birthday coupon prior to going to dinner - she said it was a $30 savings that we couldn't get on that meal. We were celebrating a birthday, we were set at the far rear table in the Emperor Room. It was noisy due to the exhaust fan but was super smoky. I actually had to get up and leave the room because my eyes were burning and I was getting nauseas. I told our waitress about it but she just looked up and said nothing and did nothing. One of the times I had to leave and sit in the lobby a manager (?) asked what was wrong and he did try to fix it by turning on the AC. Our waitress was horrible, it appeared the table next to us was her priority. My husband never got his water refilled, In fact the manager guy noticed it and said "that's not ok" and took my husbands glass. But he never brought it back. Also I had to get up to refill my husbands lemonade. and she never asked me if I wanted another beverage either. It was the worst service I have ever had! Luckily the chef was amazing and put on a great show! my birthday person really enjoyed him!!!! The food was medium nothing great but nothing terribly gross - not worth the price though. We did not leave the waitress much of a tip due to her horrible service, and she actually came back to my husband and asked him if he made a mistake !!!! he told her no he didn't. My father took me to Benihana's downtown for my 18th birthday and it was amazing, I wanted to do that for my granddaughter's 18th - It was not what I was expecting. I don't think we will be coming back again. Bummer Birthday Heidi

   Normally love Benihana, but things were off today. Maybe because we were the first ones there for lunch at 11:30, and they didn't seem ready. Then our chef seemed distracted by another table, and overall the food tasted off. Again, this is not their norm, but something wasn't right today...

   The glass that my beverage was served in was cracked at the bottom of the glass. My grandson’s ice cream had a hair in it. Our server was great the first half of our dinner and then I couldn’t find him to refill our beverages the later part of dinner.

   Big problem with Benihana: they GROSSLY overbook reservations. I arrived at 5:25 for my 5:30 reservation. When I make reservations I expect to be seated at or no later than 10-15 minutes after my reserved time. We got seated at 6:20…nearly an HOUR after our reserved time. That much of a delay isn’t an accident. I strongly suspect Benihana uses software that purposefully overbooks to ensure maximum profit at the expense of customer’s time. This is a massively disrespectful practice within the industry that cooks, servers, and hostesses dislike because it results in understandably angry customers. Sure enough, although I disliked doing so I only tipped 10% instead of 20% because until it literally starts costing employees enough to speak up about and/or quit, this will keep happening. The tipped staff lost out on $25 from me last night because of the disrespect of my time that management showed. In addition, I now have no intention of ever going back and will also encourage others to avoid Benihana if they value their time. Aside from that, while the food was good (as it always is), the value just isn’t there. $200+ for two people with a couple drinks each isn’t a good deal. There are PLENTY of other places in town, including some high-end steak houses, where you can get as good or better food for less money. Sometimes a lot less money. Final quibble: everyone’s drinks at our table sat empty for too long. Not only did I notice this, I heard the guy sitting two seats down from me state to his wife, “Is the server ever coming back for drink refills??” I would have enjoyed dinner more if I wasn’t so PO’d the entire time because I had to wait nearly an hour for a seat. I simply can’t and won’t recommend. This review will be cross-posted to Yelp and Google.

    Our family has been celebrating special occasions at Benihanas for many years and have always enjoyed our experiences until our most recent visit. We were celebrating my son’s birthday and we had to ask our server multiple times for water, white rice and Diablo sauce. When we were done and had asked for our bill and to go boxes we had to wait nearly 20 mins. After our bill was paid, we were then brought our desert and the white rice that never arrived while we were still eating. Our bills was over $400 and our service was awful. Hopefully we’ll have better luck next time.
