    This restaurant is always enjoyable due to the ambiance, attentive service, high quality cooking and presentation, and making the diner feel special. The prices can feel high for the Winston-Salem market, but for us it's a decision based on our desire to splurge. Mobility limited diners may be challenged by the layout of this historic property.

    We were seated in the gazebo, which was vero romantic, private, and quiet. My meal combination, the black bass with white rice and a curry sauce, did not taste well. The fish was well done and delicious but the combination was odd. I did not like it. Being such expensive restaurant I was expecting better. This is the reason for the 4 stars.

    We enjoyed a special birthday dinner and rare date night. It was our first time dining here and sat out in the covered patio room. The ambience was nice, and our server was patient and attentive. The food was very good. Great calamari and brussles appetizers, delicious filet mignon and scallop entrées, and yummy cheesecake dessert. We were a little surprised they didn't have a menu with specialty cocktails, but they do offer a full bar. We were able to chat, take our time, and enjoy our evening out. We will be back!

    I've been wanting to go to Bernadin's for a date night but since it's impossible to find someone to date over the age of 50 here in WS, I went on a birthday date with my neighbor. We both had an appetizer, cocktail, and the scallops for dinner. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the mushroom aspargus risotto was amazing. I had the strawberry shortcake for dessert with the Chantilly cream and fresh strawberries. The English biscuit was too hard for my taste but it was still very flavorful. My friend has the cinnamon bun bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I liked her dessert better. It was such a fabulous night there. We sat outside and the weather was perfect and our server along with the rest of the wait staff were very attentive but not overbearing. This is my new favorite restauraunt in Winston Salem!

    My girlfriend and I have made it a tradition to go to Bernardin’s for our annual anniversaries and this was our third visit. We fell in love with the atmosphere and food. Tonight, we were seated outside for the first time and had the pleasure of being waited on by our server, Josh. Josh is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and seemed to genuinely love what he does. He recommended our entree and dessert and explained everything perfectly, he did not disappoint. My girlfriend had the scallops and risotto and won’t stop raving about it. We had the goat cheese tart for an appetizer and it blew our minds. Tonight was one of the best experiences we have had dining out all thanks to the wonderful chef and of course, the customer service exceeded our expectations all thanks to Josh. We cannot recommend this place enough.

    Josh was our server… and it was an amazing first experience! He was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and reassuring with any questions we had. The food was AMAZING… decent serving portions and taste was good. Celebrated a birthday, I got the special Lobster Ravioli & Lamb Chops… perfect!! As a dessert, we got the Peach & Blueberry Cobbler. Which tasted like it came out of your grandma’s kitchen. The perfect amount of sweetness and definitely can taste that it is homemade!! Will return - Winston did not disappoint with this one

From the moment we stepped into the relatively new enclosed outdoor venue, we were transported to a world of culinary delight.     7:15 reservations, we were shuttled upstairs to a small room with 3 tables. Sadly we sat for 28 minutes before we got our drinks. Quiet, the walls need some paint and they were there to sell paintings :/. Anyways, we were forgotten and made to watch others enjoy bread, drinks and meals. We were about to leave when the waitress only apologized when we raised the issue. All that done, the food was very good. They expedited our order (we think), but overall if you’re looking for a date night, perhaps the outdoor area MIGHT be worth a shot. Wine selection was great, beer selection was sorely lacking. Poor service, good food, not good interior ambiance, certainly not worth the bill at the end of the night for date night. **if you are sat upstairs, know it’s 3 floors down to the bathroom :). In case you have issues walking.

    Bernardin’s is a favorite of ours; however, we were disappointed that the restaurant seemed short of help and consequently our server had far more tables to manage than any server should have. We got okay attention but a couple that came in after us had to wait 10 minutes or longer to even be acknowledged by the server. The food is always very good and the prices are very reasonable and much better than other top restaurants in Winston-Salem. If you are seated inside, ask to be on the first floor. The upstairs is too loud to have a conversation across the table. Better still, opt for outside dining.

    Our favorite restaurant in the Triad hands down. The quality of food and outdoor ambience rivals our experiences in cities like NYC, SF and Bangkok. We love this place and will come again soon!

    “Hit or Miss” is the best I can say about Bernardin’s. We were looking forward to a nice dinner, and one of us had that experience! My husband really enjoyed the escargot, the chowder, and the salmon. I tasted all of his dishes, and also agreed that his dishes were well seasoned, prepared properly, and had a nice presentation. Now, to describe my dishes, it was like I was eating at a different restaurant. I ordered the crab cake appetizer, the burrata salad, and the lobster tail with lobster ravioli special. First, the burrata was BY FAR the best thing I ate. It was fresh, bright, and had just the right amount of acid and sweetness with the balsamic glaze. Unfortunately, the other two dishes were disappointments. The crab cakes were flat out not edible. I ate only a portion of one, and left the rest, really only eating as much as I did of the first one because I was hungry. They were dry and mushy, no flavor and no actual lump crab in sight, absolutely a disaster. For the entree, the lobster tail was fine, but the ravioli filling had a strong, “off” flavor. I’m not sure what was going on, but it just wasn’t good. Again, my husband had three good dishes, so it was definitely a hit or miss experience for us.

    The entire experience was amazing. We had a party of 7 and everyone loved all of the food. Our server was informed, professional and attentive without being over bearing. We had a table in the beautiful outdoor patio close to the koi pond. It was perfect.

    My 2nd time dinning at this restaurant. Food is always good! I like how the chefs combine eastern and western ingredients for their dishes. I thought the service was a bit off perhaps due to late dinning hour as the waitress looked very tired.

    We have had dinner here many times in the past and have received great service and the food has been excellent. I have recommended this restaurant to friends, touting how wonderful the experience was and how good the food was. That came and bit me in the a$$ when I suggested that we celebrate one friends birthday and another couples upcoming wedding. The server seemed new as he proceeded to spill wine on the table, menu and seat cushion which we had to point out to him. The food was not up to their previous standards and they auto-charged a 20% gratuity (6 people in our party) to our bills. I don’t usually mind this but think it is wrong to charge this if the service was not that great and we should be able to elect a different amount. Needless to say, I will have to think twice before recommending to friends and family in the future.
