Big Bowl-Reston
Everyone raves about the pad Thai, our spicy dishes that are truly hot, and our create-your-own stir-fry–and for good reason. Every element adds up to big taste and takes our food to another level, be it a fresh squeeze of lime, fragrant herbs or the seared Thai chilies.
Big Bowl is so big on authentic flavors that even the ginger ale is made with fresh ginger root–from scratch, of course.
Big Bowl remains a must-dine when I'm in Reston. Food and staff remain outstanding, the menu carries old favorites, along with new and interesting choices that make for tough decisions on my too-infrequent visits. The only negative that comes to mind is the wine list continues to suffer from price creep. Otherwise, it's still one of my favorite places...
The food tasted like it was reheated meat- Ana was super bland.
The staff was cleaning and sweeping around our table as we were eating preparing to leave for the night- such a turn off.
The waiter was ok but mess the original order up and we ordered soup which was gross but we had no more energy to complains so we paid and left.
My meal wasn’t correct, our waiter never came back so someone refilled our water after waiting. I never gave my Lettuce number and overall no friendly service except one girl came by to take our plates was full of smiles and spoke.
This was not a good night for us at Big Bowl. The tables were sticky so we didn’t feel it was clean. The food took over 45 minutes to arrive at our table. Chicken pad Thai was just ok. Orange chicken was very heavily dressed with sauce and chicken lettuce wraps also had a ton of sauce and ingredients like celery that we are not used to seeing in that dish. Server was inexperienced and seemed to be overwhelmed. All in all we spent an hour and a half dining tonight spending much of that time waiting for food or waiting for server to check us out.
We have been to Big Bowl many times. The food was delicious, as always and our waitress was probably one of our best. The service she provided was excellent.
great food even for vegetarians . will visit again
Food was great, service could be better.
We used to really like coming here, but no more. Unfortunately, the food did not taste good at all. It was very salty and greasy.
I always like eating at Big Bowl-Reston. Right in our neighborhood, bigger menu choice even for vegetarians like me, friendly servers, and excellent preparations. I always recommend it to my friends.
I just lived everything about the place I have been going since Big Bowl came to Reston.
A bit disappointing. Not crowded, but service was slow. Wrong meal delivered and the wait staff kept looking at us like it was our fault. I felt very uncomfortable. Food was just OK.
Haven't been here for a long while, will be a long while before I go back, if ever.
We had a great dining experience - food was good, service was good, etc.
Came again after many years and it was a surprise it was so great. Service is key and our server was the best. Didn’t have to wait for water and he checked back often. Food was tasty, different and plentiful. Made a reservation and was seated immediately. Will be back.
If the menu says it is "Spicy", this is one of the few places where it means it is SPICY!!! Love the food. Service was prompt and friendly. Hate that they took the shrimp rolls off the menu and that you have to pay for parking at lunch. Otherwise, great place!
Crowded at lunch and dinner and very noisy, but at "off" times this place is THE BEST! Food is fantastic, service is perfect.
Helpful service, relaxed vibe, we’ll be back!
Big bow is my family's all time favorite place for weekend Lunch, when we feel like eating out
HORRIBLE Place. We got soup for starters as soon as we got it, it was cold. We told our server that it was cold and not good at all. She took it away and still charged me for it. The manger was also not able to help out our problem. Even though it was busy she could’ve came and helped out and see how we are doing. The server didn’t even ask how was our food and if we needed anything. I will not come here again.
Delicious food, wide variety
Service on new years eve was terrible and it wasn't packed. The lady manager was as slow as the servers. Ssuce for tgai came 1/2 hour later when food was cold and the teriyaki chicken came when everybody else had finish their food!!! Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We were party of 8.
We frequently dine here. It's usually very busy but service is still okay. This last time, the restaurant was not busy but service was slow because servers were standing around chatting. It was early on New Year's Eve. When my meal arrived, I asked for chopsticks. The young man then took my unused fork away and never returned! I waited several minutes before I could even get anyone's attention to repeat my request for chopsticks, despite people cleaning tables, checking on their own tables, and standing back by the register. Meanwhile my food sat there, getting cold. We waited again after we finished eating to hear about dessert options. Food was fine, dessert was awesome! Service much worse than it should have been.
Christmas Eve Celebration
We were looking forward to trying the Reston Big Bowl after discovering the chain in Chicago. The Chicago location was fantastic in food, atmosphere, and restaurant staff. Reston was a let down as soon as we walked in the door. Decor and general atmosphere is bland, and low energy. Food quality was also a disappointment. Pan fried potstickers arrived cold, Kung Pao chicken was very greasy.
My husband and I had an early dinner and both liked our entrees. I got the yellow chicken curry with vegetable fried rice - and it was quite good, lots of fresh vegetables cooked perfectly. Only complaint is the dish was a bit on the salty side. My husband had some HOT beef and vegetable dish with jalapeno peppers with jasmine rice - and he loved it though it made him break into a sweat. We have to applaud the restaurant for appealing to healthier diners by offering cauliflower rice in lieu of a regular white, brown or fried rice option. My husband had to send back his Cosmopolitan martini - but the wine and beer were fine. We do not dine here that often, but when we do we do like it.
Great experience as always :)
The food arrived quickly and just as we expected. The fire cracker Chicken was delicious.
Always great food and friendly service! Recommend to all!
My first experience at Big Bowl was absolutely wonderful. Planned a family dinner there for my sweethearts birthday as his favorite food is thai. Not only were they accommodating to making it special, they were more than willing to bring out the cake I brought as a surprise. Lighten up and everything! I am, personally, a picky eater and the waiter worked with me to create my own masterpiece. It was more than delicious. Definitely would return!
Outstanding as always
Always enjoyed coming here. Their stir fry bar is a great value for money . I love their home made gingerale and the seasonal cheesecakes.
The menu has lots of options for all sorts of diners. My particular choice was extremely salty, likely due to the amount of soy sauce in the sauce.
Even though we arrived early for our reservation we were promptly seated. Service was really fast. The stir fry bar was great as usual.
We've been going to Big Bowl since it opened, and it's one of our family favorites. Always have a good meal, and the service is excellent.
Food was mediocre. Wonton soup had no flavor, had to add lots of soy sauce. Ahi tuna and avocado summer roll was pretty good. Lettuce wraps were standard. Server vanished, very unattentive. We will not return.
I chose this restaurant because it seemed like a fun place for grown-ups, but that is also kid friendly. Totally nailed it! This is a great place for families who are sick of the usual restaurants. Food was very good, we enjoyed every dish we got. They also make their own ginger ale, kinda neat:) Even though I selected this because I wanted a restaurant we could bring our 8 year old along, this is not what I would call your typical family restaurant. It's very cool.
I came in causing a ruckus right from the start ... baby in a stroller, had to change tables from where my party was already sitting, etc. The staff was very kind and helpful in making these changes, storing the stroller for us, and understanding of our extra needs for the baby. I had no problem with my food allergies, the food was fresh and fast (even with my MANY allergies), and we had a great lunch.
Everything was fabulous including our waiter, Milton! Never had to ask for a refill. He was very attentive!
Delish! Great service!
Great stir fry bar. Have been to this location often and have never had a complaint.
Our dinner reservation was at 8:30; we were seated at around 8:40 pm. The server did not even bother to offer water until we asked about 15 minutes later. She was just too busy serving others and we had to specifically request her to come over if we wanted to order anything. I would have definitely moved out of the restaurant had it not been a special occasion. We all have decided that we will not be coming to this restaurant for any celebrations. Anyway, we did not even bother to cut the cake and brought it back home. Now we all know that this is not going to be the special occasion destination for us ever. Perhaps the restaurant owners should think of taking the last order not at 7-7:30 to avoid hurrying customers to finish their food as they want to close.
