We had such a lovely dinner. Thank you so much for the informative wine knowledge, the interesting menu and the delicious cuisine. We will be back!
A visit to Bishop's is a must for me each time I travel to Vancouver : the quality of the food is top notch. Especially loved our lobster risotto appetizer, artic char/prawn and great wine.
Imagine relaxing in the comfort of your own home, only after it’s been tastefully beautified by some local art work, white linens, and warm lighting. Add a lovely celebrity host and some equally lovely staff members who all treat you like they’ve known you forever, then sit back and just enjoy. Food is world class, always perfectly prepared from quality, mostly locally-sourced ingredients. You can take in as much or as little advice you want about food, spirits and/or wine pairings. One thing for sure is that you won’t ever feel uncomfortable at this place. Always feels like you’re being spoiled at home. This time, it was fresh kusshi oysters on the 1/2 shell, then pan-seared scallops, organic beef tenderloin and, finally, a selection of artisan cheeses. Silky smooth service to match. Everything was superb—as usual!
Bishop's is in the top 3 restaurants of Vancouver. It's a beautiful restaurant. The walls are white with white linen and interesting paintings. It is elegant but not pretentious. The service is excellent and friendly. The food is simple, light and tasty. They masterfully intertwine ingredients to enhance but not overpower each dish.
John Bishop was the first person in Vancouver to do farm to table and it was long before it was trendy. He is a kind and gentle person. This is a gem of a restaurant!
Dining at Bishop's was an enjoyable experience. The restaraunt is small compared to others which provides a personable ambiance in a low decibel environment. The food and service is outstanding. It is a perfect place to take a loved one for dinner.
We recently celebrated an anniversary at Bishops and were delighted with our choice. Service was impeccable and the menu choices were varied and delicious. This will become a regular choice for our evenings dining out!
Consistently delicious food in an elegant room. I’ve been dining here for years and never been disappointed.
Once we came into the restaurant, we felt that we chose an excellent place to have dinner. The atmosphere was so sympa (in French) and we felt that we were really welcomed by all staffs.
Diner was brilliant which is obvious but what I was impressed is that Mr. Bishops made a small greeting to all tables. We now understood why he could run this restaurant over 30years.
We had an excellent night with them. Thank you so much.
Food not worth the price you pay
Bishops never disappoints. Our fave restaurant in the city!
Excellent place to fine dine. Everything is done to the finest detail.
Charming local restaurant serving excellent food & impeccable service. John Bishop himself was an extremely interesting & welcoming host.
Excellent, as usual.
Superb evening with friends who have also enjoyed this restaurant for over 30 years!
It’s been a long time since my last visit but this was exceptional. Truly the best customer service and attention to detail I’ve seen in a long time.
We always enjoy an evening at Bishops and have never experienced
anything but excellence.
Gorgeous oysters, leek and pork soup, beet salad and duck confit! We loved the pear dessert and the cheese plate too! Fantastic evening... Highly recommend.....
THE BEST! No one does it better than John and his team!
Unfailingly superb food and service. Very knowledgeable staff helmed by the calm, suave John Bishop.
The modestly priced $65 prix fixe three course menu is varied, with choices for everyone. Thoughtful wine list with carefully curated BC section. Attentive service which was never intrusive.
Bishops as always is a very pleasant dining experience and saves us the need to go across a bridge
Service is always top notch.
Always nice to see all the same people.
Food is Always better then I remember.
Our favourite romantic spot!
Best restaurant in Vancouver. Every course is memorable. Experience is repeated each time we visit. In my view a direct peer (in terms of elite dining) and definitely ahead of West, Hawksworth etc.
Food was delicious, fresh and seasonal! Abel and Jodie were very friendly and helpful and Chef Bishop even came by our table a few times. We will definitely be back.
This is probably our favourite restaurant in Vancouver. Great food and wonderful people.
Dining at Bishops is always a delight. The service is superb - friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. The appetizers and mains were truly excellent.
The only shortfall would have to be the "cherry tart" dessert - which was much more custard tart than a fruit-based dish, and the coffee, which really wasn't quite up to snuff (for a coffee town like Vancouver).
That said, we would go back to Bishops anytime. There is good reason why this place is still a Vancouver institution after so many years!
This is a very classy restaurant. John greeted me at the door with upmost respect.
I arrived by myself and my friend showed up about 10 minutes later. I wanted to order a snack or a drink, but the staff were waiting for my friend to arrive before taking care of me. I told one of the staff that I felt ignored.
Overall, the food was fresh and amazing, The ambience is chill. The service is very good.
I would love to return!
John is amazing. I am starting a food blog soon. He will be the first feature.
Thank you so much for an overall amazing experience.
Great food with excellent service. Would request the upper room next time for the artwork and coziness factor
I continued our Daddy-Daughter birthday dinner tradition with my now 35-year old girl at Bishop’s and it was very nice. The service was very attentive and the 3-course prix fixe plates were artistically presented (which meant pretty but sparse), quite tasty and fully priced ($65pp + supplements + 4 glasses of wine = $250 for 2).
We haven't been for some time as for some reason this amazing restaurant has been off our radar. What a mistake that was....lovely, helpful staff, incredibly beautiful and tasty food make this a winning choice for a romantic evening, a dinner with great friends or an adult family get together. We look forward to our next visit.
Cosy environment. Warm and good service. Food is good . Wine is good . Worth to introduce to friends and I will definitely come back again with my friends and relatives.
This is still the standard bearer for great dining, beyond merely fine dining, in Vancouver after 34yrs.
Excellent Dining Experience in great setting in the middle of Kitsilano.
The food is outstanding and service first class!
It was a lovely evening Everything was perfect from the moment we entered the restaurant
Have to say that the new limited menu at Bishops was a huge disappointment for choice I must hasten to add. It's been a few years since I was last there before recently and there used to be a lot more choice. That said the food quality was excellent and delicious. The value very good for the money versus quality. Service not up to what it used to be, but Vancouver has a service crisis and true serving professionals don't exist anymore. One has to accept this within the parameters that restaurants, even the top ones, are forced to work with.
We love Bishops, we have been twice and the people are lovely and the food is unbelievable. The only thing I recommend is to bring a light sweater or wrap in case you sit near the windows as I got pretty chilly between two(it’s the middle of winter). Sitting near any window anywhere in winter gets chilly :)
Excellent food well prepared and presented. Service was impeccable as it always is.
Bishops is one of our favs. It was slightly disappointing this time because it turned out to be a winterlicious / dineout menu even though they don't officially take part in it. Cheaper menu but limited options.
If they have the octopus carpaccio available when you go, GET IT
Birthday dinner. Great place as usual, however, prefer a regular menu eat this restaurant over pre-fix.
Had an amazing dinner with the best service. Gluten friendly & the food was outstanding.
Appies were outstanding, entres OK (black beans undercooked and potatoes very dry), desserts disappointing. Great wine and top notch service.
