El servicio y la comida excelentes. Una gran atención, se adaptaron sin ningún problema a mis alergias y siempre con una sonrisa
Great experience: service personalized, great balanced of flavours on the plate. Cooking of the beef and lamb was perfect. Couscous was so good: we would have take more ;-) We liked the 3 course concept.
I loved the simplicity of the menu...3 courses with ~3-5 choices for each. Excellent combinations on every dish. And the service was extremely attentive.
My wife and I came to Bishop's for an early dinner before the theatre. Our experience began with warm welcomes from the staff, our sommelier was well read, incredibly entertaining and informative. We chose a bottle of St.Emillion (France) and had Foie Gras and Scallops as an appetizer - both were immaculately prepared, beautifully presented and completely delectable. Our entrees were the Pan Roaster Sea Bass and the Beef Tenderloin. As before, the entrees were the definition of perfection. The sea bass was served with bacon mashed potatoes, crispy shallots and an incredible sauce that defies description! The beef tenderloin was served with incredible mashed potatoes, a roasted carrot (I wish there were a few of these - they were spectacular) and beef jus.
The pace of service was on point, we never felt rushed yet the staff seemed to be there just at the right time. When I booked the reservation I asked if my wife and I could be sat next to each other instead of across a table, we were seated at a banquette which allowed us the intimate seating we prefer yet gave us the space to sit, holding hands and chat directly. Perfect.
An overall wonderful dining experience. Friendly and professional service and delicious food.
Delicious food with unpretentious, generous service!
Had a really lovely dinner here, fixed price 3 course dinner for $75 (excluding tax & gratuity). Also had a lovely glass of Bordeaux. The portion is just right and the quality is good. I had the scallops for starter, the lamb for main, and a fantastic special summer tart with ice-cream. John came by to speak with each table and it was a delight to meet him. Ambience is cosy and romantic.
Great service, food, and ambiance
It was for my husband birthday dinner. Everyone enjoyed their dish. The service was outstanding. Very attentive and Kind. The portion was good but I gave 4 starts on the value because I wish I could get more dishes for the price maybe with less portion on each dish?
Delicious food, amazing service and good atmosphere.
One of the best dinners we have had ever in combination with the food, service, knowledge of wine and ambiance. A must do for anyone in Vancouver and for all visitors. Thank you Mr. Bishop for your attention to us!
Wonderful. A gem in Vancouver. With John Bishop still at the door greeting guests!
Bishop's is consistently fabulous. The food was fantastic. There is a set menu with lots of options however, very little for vegetarians. Knowing the restuarant though, if we had wanted a vegetarian main course we would just have had to ask and something fabulous would have been custom made. It's also nice to find a restaurant that serves organic meat. You'd be hard pressed to find service like this. John Bishop meets everyone at every table and talks to them as though they are friends. They are very attentive. At one stage I sneezed, and within seconds tissues were delivered to my table! Our overseas guests that we took with us could not praise the experience highly enough. Highly recommended.
Bishop’s is our favorite restaurant to visit in Vancouver. The food, service and ambiance are above and beyond. If you haven’t been, you must go!
My brother was there about a month earlier and highly recommended it. We went there and was very happy with the experience, food, service was excellent and we come from New York area with great restaurants. A gem of a place been there for many years.
Terrific meal - appetizers were perfect - scallops and foie gras, mains were a real treat - lamb loin and venison, and nicely finished with desert
Wine list was good and we picked something affordable and it was very good. Attentive and very helpful service made this a great meal
As usual, we had a wonderful meal. The food never disappoints - so fresh and seasonal! The service was perfect - very attentive without being intrusive.
The wine list could be a bit broader in the affordable range.
Overall, we have always enjoyed a special dinner at Bishops.
We visit the area every few years. Dining here is always a treat. We visit from Denver.
The service was top notch. Four our first course my wife got a blue cheese & pear salad which was excellent and I got the soup of the moment which was cauliflower. It was decadent, rich and flavorful. For our entrees we choose the Duck (which was cooked to perfection) and the Venison both were superb. For desert I got death by chocolate & my wife got the Strawberry & Rhubarb crumble which was out of this world!
Fantastic food and service! We went for our anniversary, and talking about it afterwards we had a hard time ever remembering getting the quality of service we had here. The food was as outstanding as the service!
Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Vancouver, or even in Canada. The staff was attentive, assured, friendly, and knowledgeable. I loved that they did not hover, but simultaneously brought so many special touches to our anniversary dinner. We will certainly be returning!
Simply one of the best.
Bishop's consistently lives up to its reputation for creative, highest quality gastronomic cuisine. Each visit is a culinary adventure of the highest standard. Waited on by at least 3 staff, it was a memorable night. Thanks for helping us keep our anniversary tradition and 10 years of great memories.
My wife and i have been coming to Bishop's once a year or so for special occasions for a very long time. It's our go-to place when we want to celebrate together. The staff are warm and highly professional, the food is outstanding and John Bishop is the consummate, erudite host, always helping us feel important and valued. He demonstrates a genuine ability to engage in thoughtful conversation and never makes us feel rushed as is the case in some many other dining establishments -- including high-end ones. We began going to Bishop's when we had little money and at the time he was gracious enough to never judge when we chose one of his less expensive wine offerings. We appreciate how he and the staff have always made us feel welcome with great food and service.
I've come here for my last 2 anniversaries and both times did not disappoint. Immpecable service combined with delicious food. Mr. John Bishop is doing it right!
Nothing wrong with the food but no wow factor like a home cooked dinner
Repeated visits are repeatedly wonderful! In how many other top restaurants does the owner meet you at the door? Food and staff are always excellent.
The service is always friendly and professional without being intrusive.
Set menu has enough choices for all tastes, including vegetarian and specials.
Such a treat,we vowed we should all come more often!
Great food and experience. My only comment is that the food was served too quickly and I was worried that an experience that I wanted to linger over was going to take 30 minutes.
Greeted with a glass of wine while our table was made ready.
We’ve been there twice and we got the same romantic table as the first time.
Food was outstanding as was the servive.
Out new favourite place!
Loved this suggested restaurant. The night was so fun and the food fantastic
Classic, well executed and delicious food with great service in an oft overlooked place. Bishops has become hidden treasure in this trendy city.
Been years since either of us had been. Bishop’s hasn’t missed a step; gorgeous food and warm inviting space, sincere service.
It won’t be years until we return!
Our table for two was awaiting with a chilling split of Veuve Cliquot in this Vancouver icon to fine food and impeccable service from host John Bishop. The new menu formula simplifies ordering using a three-course French style menu containing four wonderful selections per course rather a bewildering list of mix-and-match offerings. So too with the wine list, moving a nicely-curated selection of BC and California options by glass, carafe or bottle forward and moving a very deep list of reserve wines/premiers crus to the back for wishful browsing. After a fine amuse-bouche of chicken liver pate, we ordered with an eye to sharing our starters of arugula salad and seared scallops, and our mains of lamb rack and duck breast, all very fine and offered at just the right pace: leisurely but attentive and friendly. A quiet and very happy crowd, all seemingly blissed out by the classically-prepared, locally-sourced cuisine, and friendly, expert service. Did I mention that the room offers one of the better collections of west coast indigenous art to be found in town?
Again soon, I hope!
It was a very good dinner the duck was excellent, and the cheese cake was probably the best I've ever tried. But, to my mind (I'm french, may be it can explain), it was a bit expensive, compared to the service offered. We (two persons) paid almost 190 CAD for a dinner, without even taking wine.
Fantastic food. Great ambience. Quiet, relaxed dining.
Our dinner and evening at Bishops was superb! Divine, delightful and incredibly delicious. I was greeted at the front door by John Bishop who is the warmest, most welcoming and sincere restaurant owner. I have huge respect and admiration for all that John has accomplished and all that he has given back to his community. We celebrated a friends 60'th birthday here and I couldn't ask for a more perfect environment! Our service was amiss ONLY because a new server, first night on the job, topped up a glass of wine with sparkling water. I have great compassion for this person and just wish the situation had been remedied in a more timely manner. Thank you, John, and all your wonderful staff!
As always, Bishop's delivered for an anniversary of my wife and I. The service was impeccable and so friendly; it was like dining at a friend's house. And the cuisine was wonderful, prepared with creativity and passion. Thank you Bishop's for another special evening.
Tasting menu only. 75$. Amuse
Bouche Washington ok, appies we're good, entrees and desserts were outstanding.
