Perfect dinner. Thank you!
Fantastic food. Classic ratatouille feels like grandma traditional recipe. So good.
Very pleasant. Amazing ambience - loved the candles. Excellent food - subtle and rich flavours at the same time. Lovely to have John B come to greet his guests personally. On the high end price wise but worth it. Highly recommended.
We love this place! Wonderful! We are often out of town and cannot wait to come back to Vancouver and dine at Bishop’s. The service, the staff and John Bishop make it a very special time every time and the food is exquisite.
Bishop's has been an icon in the Vancouver scene since the 80's and I can honestly say I've been a fan since those early days and I don't even live here. John , Abel and their staff are the consummate hosts where EVERYONE is special. What amazing service, personal attention and oh, did I mention the food is outstanding.
My duck and crab cake were excellent but my wife's cannelloni was disappointing. Service was outstanding.
Classic solid excellent food and John Bishop was interactive and gracious.
Staff was accommodating and knowledgeable of want the restaurant could offer good that day, it worked! We all loved the dinner!
A truly special place, but you don’t need a special reason to enjoy it.
Truly a gourmet delicious food experience! Two people in our party remarked the steak tartare was the best ever in their lifetimes! Staff was a joy to converse with. Overall a fabulous late night dinner experience.
Been going there for many years and the standard never slips below excellent.
An absolutely wonderful dining experience. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. The crab cakes, venison, and rack of lamb were delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the owner even went around and greeted all the guests. Their reputation is well deserved!
John is the consummate host, and his influence is felt throughout the entire dining experience. Staff are top notch, and every chef that has ever spent time in John’s kitchen, has left better for the experience.
We came for a birthday dinner and it was very special from the moment we walked in. Each bite of food was amazing. The staff was attentive and we felt well cared for.
10 years in Vancouver and I don’t know why I waited so long to try this place. The entire experience was top notch!
The people are what make Bishop's restaurant so enjoyable; the staff, from busboy to waiter and sommelier, know their stuff and perform gracefully - all graced by John Bishop's personal visits to each table. It doesn't hurt that the food is first class either!
Thank you so much for taking such good care of our group of 6. It was a fabulous dinner and evening.
Food was good but menu and decor is outdated. Super overpriced for the portion size and quality.
Another beautiful evening at Bishop's celebrating our anniversary! Thank you so very much!
Although the initial aroma was that of an old bookstore the friendly staff, a glass of wine and some fabulous bread quickly overtook the initial sense. Crab cake starter and salad feature were scrumptious. The halibut and meat filled cannelloni were spot on. Burnt cheese cake and creme brûlée with coffee finished off a terrific meal. A small dish of assorted sweets with a candle was brought to our table discreetly to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Overall, a delightful dinner worth every penny.
10 years and counting, and still my wonderful wife's most favorite ROMANTIC spot in town to celebrate (or, to just have dinner)!!
And each time, I understand why . . .
We were delighted to find one of our favourite restaurants had reopened after covid and particularly that John Bishop has not yet retired. We had a delightful visit with him during an outstanding birthday dinner for my hubby. We chose the crab and salmon cakes to share, the Buratta salad and each had rack of lamb, which we agreed is the best we have ever eaten. So tender, so meaty and cooked to perfection. The basque cheesecake is not to be missed!
Can’t wait to return
Fantastic!! Great food, great service - a wonderful time!!
Our expectations for Bishops were high, we weren't disa pointed.
Great good great service great price, must go visit
Remains one of the best fine dining experiences in Vancouver. The staff is friendly and professional with all the little touches one wishes for. The amuse bouche is unique and the food of superb quality and perfectly presented. Truly an experience that shows why John Bishop has been one of the best restaurateurs in the City for almost 40 years.
Wonderful, as always.
Great food, great service! Always a pleasure!
As always, John Bishop and his staff know how to create a comfortable environment with service that is intuitive and not intrusive, and food in both its taste and visual display is outstanding. John is the consummate host - warm and friendly who attends to all his guests with his warm John manner. From appetizer to entree to dessert, all were perfectly done and served. It is a place to which you definitely want to return. Thanks John, from Penny and Tim
Unique, superb food, knowledgeable staff, friendly personal attention - Vancouver’s best!
Our go to place to celebrate special occasions. Wonderful food and staff! Has never disappointed.
Service was remarkably good, we all felt. Food was so tasty and two of ius raved over the beef!
Enjoyed seeing John and getting a hello from him.
Outstanding dining experience! The menu is spot on, portion size is perfect. The food is prepared to perfection and the service is discreet and attentive.
Our first dining experience since COVID struck. Not a single criticism or complaint. John Bishop is the most engaging host and makes every quest feel special and important to him. Johns team is exceptional. It was like going home and being surrounded by old friends. If you are visiting Vancouver, do not miss this experience. Bishops is a legend that does not disappoint. Thank you to John and your team.
Great meal. Excellent wine selection, friendly staff and delicious mains. Would return
The service was absolutely spot on! Please don’t order the Halibut as it was overcooked & dry!!
The evening at Bishop’s was perfect at every level. The service, the food , the ambience - all that you would hope for in a restaurant of this calibre. We are so glad that we were able to dine here before John Bishop retires.
Oysters were fresh; served on ice with lemon and a delicious piquant sauce. Rack of lamb with 5 ribs was delicious. The accompanying vegetables were fresh and served firm.
The recommended Basque burnt cheesecake with the carmelized topping was unique and one of the greatest deserts I have tasted.
Bishop's always presents an exceptional evening of dining. The limited tables ensures a more quiet and intimate experience.
Over the decades one of our favourite restaurants to celebrate an event
We thought this was the old Bishop's run by Bishop himself.
But I was told the next day that Bishop had sold his business and was no longer involved.
That explains when we ordered a steak the waiter said: "do you want it med done?".
A good place asks :"how would you like it done?". When I said rare to blue, the waiter looked perplexed and when the food arrived it was med rare.
It was to come with mashed potatoes and there was about a mouthful and 2 asparagus spears. So a plate with a huge steak and next to no veggies.
Bishop wouldn't have served a meal like this.
John, Jody, Abel, and Monica never fail at meeting every expectation.
