Looking forward to seeing you soon!
"field to fork happens" at Bistro 67
I had booked several weeks in advance and asked to have a table for 6 people at the far/west end of the dining room. However we were seated smack dab in the middle of the restaurant by the door to the kitchen...right beside a very very large and loud group.
The service (Amanda) was excellent so no complaints about that. The red sangria was unusual...just okay but not a redo. 3 of us gave it a try and felt the same way. The food ranged from awesome (Brussels sprouts or salmon entree) to bland (crab cakes or pasta of the day). We shared several desserts but the chocolate bar was the only true winner. The cocktails and the desserts are overpriced.
It was an extra busy night because a cocktail party was being hosted downstairs and a company party was on the sidelines waiting to take over the dining room. It just felt chaotic...especially when we were seated at the kitchen door.
I love the fresh food and great atmosphere. My only request/complaint is that there should be options for plant-based eaters. Seems like all the soups and salads have cheese or yogurt. I don't eat dairy, gluten/refined grains, sugar and animal products (I don't label myself a vegan - my food choices are not about values - my choices are based solely for health reasons) so it becomes a challenge to order without making a fuss. If you would offer a completely plant-based starter, salad and entree that would be great!
Loved it from the minute we arrived. The service was impeccable. The drinks tasted amazing. The food was fresh, creative and we plan on going again. I had the catch of the day which was Salmon and it was prepared perfectly. My husband had the Duck and it was done to perfection as well. It was a perfect night out for us to celebrate our Anniversary.
Was a bit disappointed this time. We had the chicken, which was overly salty and cost 32.00. Nothing spectacular. This is the first time I have been disappointed, though. Usually very pleased. We had a big group and our server was friendly, but a bit unorganized.
Birthday for a friend turning 50. Excellent food and cool space.
A must try! Absolutely creative & delicious food that keeps you guessing what is in this?!!!!!
Attentive staff helped inform our menu choices, and provided an ideal lunch for a professional gathering.
This was my (our) second visit … accompanied by same group (working team). We all agreed and enjoy the fact that a lot of the ingredients are grown locally and by DC. The menu is very pleasing and we enjoy the seasonal choices you offer. The food presentation was very nice and the food was extremely tasty. We all agree that it is a place we will book in again … not only again with our working team … also individually with family and/or friends.
The service was excellent !! Thank you Nicole.
Food was good, cocktail was great. Enjoyed the ambiance.
Food is always amazing here and the new winter menu is great. Need to go back a few times to try everything!
I love coming here because it feels like a treat. The food selection is always changing. Being surrounded by windows and being up high feels uplifting. The chef obviously loves their job and I get to benefit from the flavour that they bring out. Food is local and not smothered in sauce. The service is engaging, polite and timed beautifully.
Our server Angela was very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond and arranged for a meet-and-greet between my son and the chef's, as he's considering attending the Durham College Culinary Management program.
Glad to see the great training centre for the up & coming of today.
Service was ok..I hoped to get a Cake for my husband with a candle ( which i did mention in the special requests) but howver the waitress came out after we had paid the bill and handed over a box to us and said it had a cake. When we got home all i could find was a stone like piece, so hard that i couldnt be eaten!
Was so looking forward to our group luncheon. For a culinary school was very disappointed.prices too high, service was not good. One waitress for 8 people. Many items were ordered. I ordered corn beef sandwich with soup. Corn beef very little asked for mustard on side came with mustard on both sides of bread. Way too much mustard. Not sure how this happened. Overall would not go back here again.
This place is a gem! All the vegetables are grown in their own garden and you can really taste the difference. I am never disappointed in my meals there, 2nd time and it wont be the last.
Nice ambiance and lovely view. Bright and sunny! The food was uniquely displayed on the plate and the flavours were very distinct.
Very expensive for a lunch. The beer was great but $12.09 add on to the pasta special for steak that was tough is a bit much. My husband had tacos and the meat was like jerky. Also tough. Carrot and corn soup was good. Not good value
Another great experience at Bistro ‘67. Only suggestion I’d have is to improve the lighting on the drive-in. Other than that - we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it.
I understand the concept and wish the talented young people well, but I would rather pay those prices in Toronto then whitby.
Sitting at a window seat, looking out over the gardens... Field to fork indeed! Friendly professional service. Delicious food. Lovely ambiance.
EXCELLENT minus took a looong time for meals to arrive, and alcohol is priced waaay to high. Maybe they think those go hand in hand. Still recommended.
This was the third time our group has chosen Bistro '67 for our monthly dinner. I do not believe the group will choose the restaurant again. Our primary complaint is that the table we were seated at was uncomfortably cold. We were seated int the far west table, which has beautiful views but also a terrible windchill. This is the second time we were seated in this area. Both times we have found it to be cold to the extent that several people in our group ate dinner with their coats on.
On all of our visits we have found the food to be very hit or miss. On this last visit my soup was delicious, my salad though was overdressed in a very overwhelming dressing, and the dessert was poor. Most of my meal was untouched but the server did not ask whether I had enjoyed it or not. The other guests similarly enjoyed parts of the meal but did not enjoy other parts. Overall the prices felt too high for the experience we left with.
Food was great. I am a Durham College Alumni and thought I would check it out and support the school. The purpose of the lunch was to celebrate one of my sister's birthday and she lives nearby. The waiter was very attentive. My sister was given a lovely mini birthday cake at the end of the meal free of charge which was a welcome and nice surprise. A bit pricey for lunch however our lunch was very good. Service was excellent. GN Oakville, ON
I heard great things and was not disappointed. It was a fantastic meal with a fabulous sangria to match.
Keeps getting better every time we go. Fantastic service + creative and delicious meals = a good time guaranteed!! GO!!
Margherita salad was overdressed with way to much oil. Everything else was great!!
coffee was terrible have had better burgers not overly impressed desert was fantastic service was par excellant
Excellent meal. Fresh food. Service was great. Will definitely be going back.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the food prices are in line with great value. Interesting trying to navigate our way to the parking lot then to b67 for the first time. Each presentation of food was fantastic. Every bite a wonderful adventure. The food was so good it was very deserving & screaming for a complimenting wine. Very disappointed to find all the drinks very over priced :(
All in all, I would go back in a heart beat.
We've heard so many great comments about the Bistro that we decided to book our anniversary dinner there for October 2nd. We were seated at the very far end of the restaurant which ended up being a very cold area and it made it very uncomfortable trying to stay warm. Our server took the time to explain the dishes on the menu, one of which was the catch of the day. It was pickerel served with vegetables. One of the vegetables was suppose to be cauliflower, but when it was brought to our table there was no cauliflower on our plate. Instead, it was a ring of calamari! We both strongly dislike calamari since it's like trying to chew a mouthful of rubber bands!!! We now realize that we should have sent our plates back to kitchen, but instead tried to make the best of what started out to be a really bad meal. The portion size was ridiculously small for the amount we paid! We each ended up getting what amounted to probably a tablespoon of potatoes. The server said he would bring us extra vegetables to make up for the mistake, but the vegetables ended up arriving after we finished our meal! And, there were two of us, but we only received one very small plate of vegetables, minus the potatoes to share. Also, we were given a map of the garden to look at while we waited for our meal to arrive. We noticed on the map that there is an area of the garden that had fresh flowers growing, I guess to use as cut flowers within the bistro. So my question is this: why are there no fresh cut flowers in small bud vases on any of the tables? If you grow flowers, why are you not using them on your tables to add to the beauty and ambiance of the bistro? Also, it would have been nice to see at least a small tea light on each table as well! Fresh flowers and candles would have been a nice touch in this type of setting, which we feel is on the upscale side of fine dining. Very disappointing dining experience overall!
Service was a bit slow at the beginning but improved greatly. Good was delicious!
My only suggestion is to have better descriptions of th menu items.
Will definitely be returning even though I’m coming from downtown Toronto :-)
Absolutely amazing food choices and quality. Wait staff and hostesses, even the chef came out and spoke, were top notch and approachable - very helpful with suggestions. Strongly recommend the charcuterie board and the Shrub non-alcoholic drink. But absolutely everything was amazing and so reasonably priced. Just an outstanding experience!
Very delicious. We like the garden to table concept. Friendly, professional staff!
Always enjoy my meals there. A relative, visiting from Vancouver, really enjoyed the food and view.
Bistro 67 is our go to for special occasions! The food and service is excellent, we really love the seasonal menu and the option to try dishes that are out of the ordinary.
Wonderful experience. Excellent food. Perfect coffee.
Found the ambient noise slightly high, couldn't quite hear the background music which made for a bit of a less relaxing meal, still very good, but a bit noisy.
As a vegan, it is often difficult to find a variety of options. I found many! Very pleased with the food and exceptional service.
If locally grown and supporting hospitality students sounds good to you, then go there and start your dinner early around 6pm. We had great seat by the window reserved overlooking the garden and crops. By 7pm, our friendly waitress is already at stretch on Friday night. The crowd is obviously over-whelming and she didn't have time to attend us. They are under-staffed. We spent over $100 without wine, 1 soup + 1 appetizer and 2 entrees, bit on the pricey side as I could easily get professionally done food in Milestones (across the street) for about the same price. One of the appetizer is too salty. Their greek yoghurt ice cream sponge cake dessert is the best.
Everything else is OK but on the pricey side.
