My daughter has come to Bistro Barberet with her French class several times, and very much enjoyed the experience. I was therefore expecting an experience similar to her stories, and in a price range that high school language students on a field trip could afford. This was not at all the case. The menu was limited (about 6 entrees to choose from), and nearly all in the $40-$50 price range. The appetizers were in the $15-20 price range. I got the "Pasta du Chef", in part because it was the only entree which was less than $40. For $25, I got a fist-sized serving of house-made gnocchi in cheese sauce. While it was quite delicious, I was very surprised that I was charged $25 for only a fist-sized serving of pasta! (No sides were included; just the pasta.) For dessert, despite the attached bakery, there were only 5 choices on the menu. Our table shared a plate of 5 macarons (chef's choice of flavors) for $13. One caveat to this review is that we were seated in what was, according to the waitress, a temporary dining room upstairs while the restaurant undergoes renovations. So will the menu include a greater variety of foods, including a greater range of meal prices, when the renovations are complete? When my daughter came with her French class, they each walked into the bakery to choose from a huge variety of delectable desserts, then brought it back to their table to enjoy; so maybe. I hope so. As it stands, although the food was delicious, the choices were so limited and so over-priced that I would not return to the restaurant. (The bakery, which provided counter service but not seating, would be another experience entirely.)

Not a traditionally great meal. AC was broken. Had the veal schnitzel; it was paper thin veal, with loads of breaded coating. Veal in Schnitzel should be 1/4-inch thick. Wife had scallops, which were delicious , but there were only three for the $22 price tag. Service by Michael, formerly the bartender, was superb.

Amazing food. This absolutely has to be noted. The food was delicious. The service was over the top… Our waiter was incredible…kind, respectful, humorous…the service was everything that we had hoped it would be. Now we come to the ambience… The restaurant has been moved into an open area on the 2nd floor. It looks nothing like we expected. Additionally, the air conditioning was out (and had been for days) which limited several menu items (both main dishes and desserts). The staff did what they could to make their customers comfortable (resetting the thermostat every hour…and there was a fan nearby blowing toward us). This was the first visit for myself and my partner… We really looked forward to this experience, and I knew that I would be paying quite a bit of money for this. I honestly wish the restaurant would’ve been forthcoming and called ahead to let us know that both the restaurant had moved and that there was no air conditioning, and thus would create limits. It made a quite a difference in the overall experience and seemed selfish and a bit dishonest. But then again, there was that amazing food.

Food - drinks good and fairly priced, appetizers and soup nicely prepared and presented and similar to what we have experienced in numerous visits to France; salad was horrible as it was soaked in oil and one of the saltiest things I have ever tasted ( they comped us for them); entrees were well prepared but the piece of fish snd duck were small for price; profiterole was excellent Setting - they were renovating the normal space snd AC was working poorly. We should have received notice of this snd s discount Attire- many diners were dressed in work out attire - shorts, tshirts, gym shoes. The hostess wore sweat pants and a T-shirt. This is not what I expect in a restaurant costing 100 each

Both the bakery and the restaurant consistently provide a high quality and correct product and experience. We started with bakery take out. Fresh, flavorful, and delicious quiche, bread, and pastries. Hard to eat such pretty confections! Restaurant offers choices they can do well. Even common looking menu offerings are done in unique and special ways. You want to order French onion soup at a real French restaurant. On one visit, the music was a bit loud for conversation. Within seconds it was lowered. I am now charged with bringing home a chocolate croissant weekly after my morning prayer meeting (Of course, I need a French breakfast sandwich to fortify my journey home.) Don’t miss this chance to spoil those you love!

The air conditioning had broken, very uncomfortably hot. Also, the change of leadership is evident in the food- the taste and presentation

We have lived in lancaster for quite some time that we know the staple locations. Bistro B was one of them. The foie gras was melt in your mouth to die for and the seafood was delectible. Everything was fresh with the flavors merging into one another. The drinks were always top notch. We have gone a couple of times in the past few months and something has seriously changed. The food is not the caliber it used to me. By caliber, it is not fresh and it tastes as if a few days old (i.e. the scallop crudo was a pile of fishy scallops that smelled purtrid and tasted like old scallops were coverd up with a ton of oil and cucumbers). The complimentary bread is stale. I am all for just not being given bread if its hard as a rock that I could probably dent a wall with it. The foie gras has changed that it tastes as if it was bought from the grocery store. It doesn't help that you get a half of a piece of toast for your dollop of foie gras for 23 dollars..... Bistro B used to be packed and we would frequently rub elbows with other locals. At 7pm, there is no laughter, packed chairs, talks with the bartenders; the place is a ghost town. For new visitors, Bistro B may rise to your level of kitchy french cuisine and you leave with a cute pastry that is pretty but not mind-blowing. However, for us locals that know how Bistro B used to be, this is a hard blow to the Lancaster food scene.

We were a party of 12 celebrating my daughter’s high school graduation. The service and food were great, just as when I’ve been there for a party of 2. The only menu item I wasn’t 100% pleased with was the cheese and meat platter because it didn’t come with crackers to eat them with. Otherwise everyone was happy with their food and drink orders.

10/10 First time and won’t be my last. The service was incredible kayla was on top of everything through throughout the entire meal. Coming from years of experience in restaurants I appreciated that whenever we needed something, she was right there. Chef Kile’s attention to detail and complementary ingredients, made dining experience unforgettable. I’m excited to continue to return and see what Chef comes up with next!
