About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for fine wines
  • Charming
Bistro du Midi's cuisine features French Cuisine inspired by Coastal New England influences. Our wine list represents the true soul of a bistro wine list. In a classic French bistro, wine is very much a part of every meal. As such, we offer a variety of experiences and wines at a tremendous value in a range of prices. Our elegant yet relaxed environment overlooks Boston's beautiful Public Garden with a spectacular view. A street level Bistro features floor-to-ceiling windows, and in the spring and summer our patio provides some of the most optimal al fresco dining in the city.

Matthew was our server and he was terrific. My friend wanted chestnuts (not on the menu!), and the chef kindly prepared chestnuts for him to enjoy along with the chestnut madeleine cookies. I enjoyed a delicious mozzarella with basil microgreens and avocado. Bistro du Midi is a neighborhood gem!

We loved our server, Camilla, who took great care of us. My friends had the salmon entree and said it was fabulous. We shared a chocolate soufflé. Also fantastic!! Thank you so much.

Incredibly slow service. Over priced, but what isn’t in Boston? Was told part of my order would be coming out and it never came. The table next to us asked for a substitution and it wasn’t honored.

Bistro du Midi is a lovely restaurant in a lively spot across from The Boston Common, great for people watching. We arrived late for our brunch reservation due to traffic and parking. They were very accomodating nonetheless, seating us upstairs. Three of us ordered Cappuccinos, which were lukewarm. After placing our order, it took awhile for pastries to arrive. Then, we waited a long time for our main meal, a little over an hour. Granted, it had gotten very busy during that time. We did not see our wait person for awhile and could not catch her eye, but finally spoke to another wait person, who was very pleasant and assured us our meal was coming in minutes, which it did. Two of us had Prosciutto Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but the Hollandaise was bland and the muffins very thick, overwhelming the eggs. The side salad was very good. The other meals, omelet and crepes were good. We would come back, but maybe not on a busy Sunday morning.

Ruined Mother’s Day - absolutely horrendous and awful experience with horrific disregard for allergies that were clearly stated. Still stunned after the worst dining experience we’ve ever had in Boston. First of all, two in our party ordered the same Foie Gras appetizers and they made one incorrect/ a different menu item. Rather than just fixing their error, they brought out the two Foie Gras apps and had them choose which one each would take (the item ordered and the alternate). Bizarre and highly inappropriate. As it was Mother’s Day, my sons didn’t make a big deal and one took the alternative appetizer. Bread service was delayed and arrived after our appetizers and bread plates were already taken away - we had no plates to use until we asked our server to bring them. We could have overlooked all of that until our entrees arrived: I had very clearly explained an onion, chive and scallion allergy and clearly requested no garnishes of the kind to be added to my halibut entree. It arrived covered in chives! They agreed to remake and I went to ladies room, where I discovered the dirtiest situation with overflowing trash cans and absolutely NO soap in any of the 3 dispensers. Very disgusting but more shocking was the reaction of the maitre’d when I informed them at the host stand. He acted as though I was demanding for expecting sanitary conditions in the ladies room. Luckily I had purell but not sure if I feel comfortable eating in such a place. When I arrived back at the table, they had simply brought back my entree with stated allergens. Totally unacceptable! I sent back and then they brought back a partially raw order of Halibut. At that point I left my husband to settle up and went with one of my sons to the Four Seasons next door to get something to eat which was wonderful. Bistro du Midi - never again. You ruined Mother’s Day. Your manager barely did anything to help - not charging me for something that was either allergenic or undercooked is 0
