Food and service was great! We had reservations and were seated right away.
A solid choice for a casual dinner. The food is exceptionally good.
Food was delicious. Disappointed though because my server lied to me about why my meal was taking so long. The kitchen burnt it, so it had to be remade. Understandable but server told me it just took longer to cook than other meals at the table. I ate alone and was offered nothing for the inconvenience
Good food, reasonable prices, service can be slow. Great wine list. The patio can be noisy and needs a good cleaning, but it is comfortable .
Great atmosphere - every time we go
Had a group of freshmen girls and they enjoyed it.
I had been to Bistro Joe's prior times for brunch with various friends and historically all was good. This time everything was BAD. The receptionist seemed to have too many things to do and wasn't able to greet me for many minutes. My order didn't appear for 30 minutes and then it was completely wrong as was my friend's order. Once corrected the order arrived cold, hardly any eggs on the plate but lots of potatoes with too much salt. I asked for the manager and she said sorry but didn't seem to be able to correct the situation and charged us full price for a very disappointing experience.
Always love bistro Joe’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Amazing food!!
The food was fantastic! The Hawaiian flatbread was one of the best flat breads I've ever eaten. The two teenage girls with me also enjoyed the meal. The only negative is that it was really busy so service was slower than ideal, but the server was quite nice in spite of the crowd.
Went to Bistro Joe's this past Saturday with friends. The food was excellent (we all shared the Tomahawk steak). We loved the Tableside preparation of the steak, but otherwise the service was unacceptably slow. It took much too long to get our drinks, we had to request bread several times, and by the time dessert arrived we were ready to leave out of frustration. I have been to Bistro Joe's many times, and it is the first time that I have had any complaint. I'm not sure what was going on - but it was disappointing.
We had a great lunch sitting ‘outside’. Even better when music was turned down per someone else’s request. Mussels outstanding and different. Husband really liked the mushroom flatbread. Good wine choices. Have never had a bad meal. We only do lunch here as it’s a schlep from our burb.
Cool outdoor seating area along Woodward Ave. Food was good as was the service. A little pricey but commensurate with the location.
I keep wanting to like this place more but the service was slow. And the restaurant was not super crowded.
Our waiter, Rafi, was outstanding!!! Our food was cooked to order and tasted delicious😊
The specials are always a hit, and I recommend it for brunch.
Very slow service on Friday evening. Food brought out 1 hr after ordering. Flat bread and escargot pastry was burnt. No apology or redo by Mike.
Never disappoints. Great coffee and food. I would definitely recommend reservations if you have a larger group or if you prefer an outdoor table.
We have loved this restaurant before. Service on this visit was unusually slow- and we had a very awkward table seating with a leak from the ceiling.
Food - when it arrived- was tasty, but very expensive considering all other things
Just super. The soups are great. The bartenders and wait staff are wonderful.
The seating was on a covered balcony in the posh Detroit neighborhood of Birmingham. We had brunch with some friends. The food was delicious! Not a lot of seating, and kind of tight, so it landed to a somewhat noisy atmosphere, but nothing too outrageous. Lots of charm and connected to a fresh market downstairs. Highly recommend.
My wife and I had a very productive business lunch with a colleague from Purdue University.
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner. The presentation of our entree was unique. The service was great. We will dine here again.
A poor experience at Joe's which contrasts from our prior visits. Sliders overcooked, fries greasy and soggy. Wild mushroom flatbread was good however. The waiter offered to have the slider dish and fries redone but we were short of time and declined. All in all a disappointing experience in what so far has been a very solid restaurant. Will give them another chance but probably not for a while given other alternatives in the Birmingham area.
Was very excited to take some friends to Bistro Joe’s for the first time and it was so bad I won’t go back. Started off with being sat in the very back behind the bathrooms when the whole point was to go somewhere on Woodward because of the dream cruise..felt like we were in a coat closet. The waitress wasn’t rude, but was not friendly at all, I don’t think I saw a smile on her face the entire 2 hours. It took forever to get our drinks and appetizers, and then my food came out cold. My partner’s lobster pasta dish was supposed to have 4 different kinds of seafood in it and only had lobster..only when I complained for the second time did they take money off (btw only $20 off the PASTA dish with a $58 price tag). The manager knew about our bad experience and offered to buy us a round of drinks and dessert, but he failed to communicate this with the waitress, so we had to tell her the manager’s offer. All totaled up to be a complete embarrassment..our friends were looking at us like you actually like this place? Extremely disappointed, I used to love Bistro Joe’s, I don’t know what happened.
Excellent food and service. The steak that I had was amazing. The sides were fantastic as well. Great view of overlooking Woodward during Woodward Dream Cruise. Will be going back. We highly recommend.
The food wasn’t good, however cold. The service was terrible, it took an hour forty five.
We went to Bistro Joe's for dinner, but since we arrived in time for happy hour we opted for the "snacks' menu. Service was outstanding. Food was very good if not remarkable. Our request to sit on the indoor/outdoor deck was graciously accommodated.
Limited menu, tho 3 of the 4 main courses that the 4 of us ordered were very good. Excellent waitress! Ambience: Unpleasantly noisy!! Everyone was yelling and probably had to yell to be heard over everyone else who was yelling. No acoustics to absorb loud voices.
The food was awesome and knowing the market is below makes for a daily fresh menu. That’s a great idea for a Michigan restaurant!!!
The service is a little questionable due to the fact the servers had to many tables to handle which they cannot truly cherish the guest.
We tried Bistro Joes for the first time this week for dinner. I'd read they were having July lobster month and it was the last day of July, so I made reservations and we went. There were a couple of lobster dishes, but they were $62, which felt high in that casual environment, so I passed on the lobster and got short ribs for about half that (they were good!) My husband got mahi mahi tacos, which were disappointing, but he was able to take my leftover short ribs to work for lunch the next day. They have generous portions and the waiter was nice but also extremely busy. It's a hopping place and very noisy/crowded on the section overlooking Woodward Avenue. We couldn't hear each other talk! It's unlikely we'll be back, although I regularly grocery shop in the store below, Papa Joes.
It had the potential to be good. Our food took over an hour to come out, yet they didn't seem that busy. When we did get our food, all four of our plates tasted like it had been sitting under a warming lamp for a very long time, so we are still confused as to why it took an unacceptable amount of time. Never got one apology from the waiter. If the food had been fresh it would have been good, but it wasn't.
Always a good choice
Amazing sea bass with forbidden rice-can't wait to return!
While the food was good the service was poor. The wait staff had too many tables to cover. We ate on the enclosed deck which was glassed in and the noise level was almost painful. We had lunch there a week prior and the place was almost empty. The service was great and the noise almost non existant.
Excellent menu with plenty of choices to satisfy all. Inventive cuisine and old standbys make for a great mix.
The oysters were fine, the Sicilian flatbread as well. The Niqoise salad left something to be desired. There was too much dressing and the salmon too well done. The other salad was also good
Quite a surprise. Was looking for brunch in suburbs of Detroit, and came across this bistro above a great super market. Don’t be deceived by its being in a mini strip mall. This is a gem. I can’t wait visiting Detroit again to check it out for dinner.
Great service and food! The view of Woodward is great for car watching too!
We sat overlooking Papa Joe's--very entertaining. I like this place! I don't eat wheat, but I always find something great to heat here.
Food was good as always. There's always something good in the specials.
