Food is always superb! Restaurant was very very noisy though - there do not seem to be any noise dampening elements in the room and there were two loud groups. Music only added to the din

We were excited to try authentic Cajun cuisine, something we’ve barely dabbled in, and Bistro Nolah did not disappoint! Every dish was an explosion for flavour. We opted to do 3 starters, and split the Shrimp & Grits, and it was the perfect amount of food for two. We will definitely be back for more! Brunch with the family sounds delightful!

Nolah competes with some of the best restaurants in downtown Montreal in its genre. The service was outstanding, with a terrific waiter who knew the menu and gave excellent suggestions. I found the food pretty rich but also very flavourful. I could do with a little less fat (cream, butter, etc.), but that's a personal preference. I can see why it's sometimes tough to get a reservation; we had to go at 5:30 p.m. on a Friday evening! I had the blackened catfish, and it was a very generous portion. My wife had the lobster Mac'N'cheese, which was delicious but overly fatty. Overall, an excellent meal that could use a slightly lighter hand on the butter, oil, and cream.

Our meal cost us 200$ and the hush puppies and grits were absolutely delicious. We only had appetizers and dessert. The salad was ordinary and the pinapple dressing tasted like pinapple juice. There was not very much goat cheese on the salad which was really too bad because it improved the taste significantly. The fried chicken was disappointing. The coating was a sparse leaving patches of uncoated chicken. It was not particularly crispy because they poured a honey coating over it. It could have worked it there had been more coating but there was not. Most importantly, the chicken was under cooked and one piece was quite rubbery. The crab cake arrived and smelled so strongly of seafood, it was quite apparent that the ingredients could not be as fresh as it should be. Once cut the smell intensified and was matched, which matched the tasted of stale crab. We were 2 persons and we each had a dessert. One dessert was quite good but the server should have advised the cheesecake was served hot but the flavors were good and the dessert was nicely pre My dessert was delicious, the bourbon bread pudding, but the exterior of the pudding was so hard, I would have needed a steak knife to cut it. It was basically inedible. All in all a very disappointing experience at a restaurant which is considered one of the best on the west island.

Bistro Nolah is our go to for a night out in the West Island. The Shrimp and grits are phenomenal. Wish we had taken our waiter’s advise and got the banana foster cheese cake. Always amazing food - look forward to going back
