Bistro Verde - Nordstrom Pacific Centre
Bistro Verde is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver on the third floor of Nordstrom Pacific Centre with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Robson square and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Scratch made fare, craft cocktails and a wine and beer list with great local gems make this a destination restaurant for any occasion.
Food good but atmosphere a bit on borng side. Service was excellent
We have enjoyed Verde many times as a lunch stop.....sorry to see that both the service and food quality seem to have slipped a fair bit . Service was impersonal...and rather unfriendly. The daily soup looked and tasted like a commercial version . The Neapolitan pizza was rather wet and the tomatoes were mushy and not fresh. All in all a rather disappointing visit .
My pasta was a tad bit watery for my liking but the flavors were there.
I have eaten at Bistro Verde often and have always enjoyed the food. When a friend and I were there on Monday, October 7th the food was not up to the usual level. We ordered the soup of the of the day which was turkey and white bean. We also ordered the burrata which we shared. The soup had small shards of turkey and very few white beans. As for the burrata, there was, maybe, a large tablespoon full only. I am not exaggerating. I have had the burrata twice before and my friend had had it once before . In each case, we had a generous portion of burrata. I complained to the waiter and the kitchen gave him a small, small ramikin with more burrata. Basically we got a lot of tomatoes for the $14 or so dollars it cost. We started to eat the soup after the complaint about the burrata and we didn't say anything. We gave up.
Nice place to have a business lunch
This is the first time I have had a disappointing experience at Bistro Verde. Server was not attentive to table or "warming" counter and our meals stayed on counter so long some of the food was cooled and had to be sent back. Cooks on that day were not in agreement the BV burger part was was cooled....so I ate l/2 cause I was hungry, left other half on plate, and did not tip that day. In the law of averages, there will be those days, but entirely preventable if focussed on the job at hand.
Our waiter was very helpful with choosing our wine. He brought samples for us to try. The food was excellent but they ran out of short rib grilled cheese which is what 3 of the 4 people in our group wanted.
A wonderful respite away from the middle of a noisy and congested City
Friendly staff, food was delicious, great views
Very good food enjoyed by all 3 of us. Very attentive server and great view of the Art Gallery building. We’ll return!
The menu is a bit old and tired. Love the atmosphere and the view but the food isn’t what draws me in.
We arrived when the restaurant was not busy at all and it took our waitress along time to get our drinks (water) and alcohol. We watched three other tables get drinks well before us. We were trying to make it a nice quick lunch but it ended up being a long lunch. We weren't disappointed with the food but the slow service wasn't what we anticipated.
I arrived with a client and we no sooner sat down at our table to review some business documents and our waiter spilled 2 glasses of sparkling water all over both of us and the documents on the table. The Assistant Manager offered to pay for our dry cleaning bills. What she should have offered is to pay for our lunch or at least offer a complimentary desert of coffee. Very poor customer service!
I'd only recommend the venue for a business meeting as it is centrally located and is not as crowded as the go to's such as Glowbal. However, the food was less than mediocre and the service was slow and not attentive.
Salmon was dry and on a bed of wilted slimy greens. Service barely came over to the table.
The food was fantastic and service was prompt but the drink prices are ridiculous ($15 Caesar, $15 for a 6 ounce wine). Also, we requested a window table when the reso was made (well in advance) and although there are plenty of window tables, they didn’t actually bother to hold one for our reso so we never had the view we wanted. When you can only visit every few months, that is disappointing. The food itself here was much better than expected and it came out hot and fresh. i would come for lunch again but wait for a window seat (or maybe call ahead to see if they’ll actually fulfill a reso request).
Fantastic view, attentive service and the happy hour never disappoints.
Good food, good view, noisy.
Great street and Gallery view. Noise moderate for a downtown restaurant.
Excellent table service. Food disappointing - same menu. Short rib grilled cheese
sandwich hearty and tasty. Fries tired and limp. Coffee stale and bitter.
All in all, a disappointment for the price. Cucumber basis cocktail attractive and
Calamari was very good, as always. The frites were not - they had either been overcooked, or they had been reheated from another time!? The pasta chicken entre' was tasty but in appearance, looked a bit tired and not terribly exciting - I think the mushrooms may not have been as fresh as they should be.
When asked, the server did not know what kind of scotch was available but she did find out very quickly. She gave 4 or 5 options, 3 of which were familiar to me, and she said the bartender recommended the Glenfiddich. Since my choice was between that and the Macallan, I chose the Glenfiddich. When the bill came, the price indicated $21.00 for a single! If that is what Nordstrom is going to charge, the price should either be given by the server, or there should be a list provided, so that the customer is aware before making his/her choice. I left with the uncomfortable feeling that I had been ripped off.
Menu selection and variety was reasonable. Ambience decent and not too noisy for lunch hour meal. Service okay but unremarkable. Size of portions and quality of meal subpar for pricing. Better choices in the vicinity, though a bit of a challenge to find quieter places at lunchtime rush hour.
The meal was great as usual. I am happy to hear that you are going to repair the ripped coverings on some of your booths. You guys are better than that. Looking forward to visiting again!
My friend and I shared three small plates. The pear, kale & blue cheese salad was delicious. The burrata with heirloom tomatoes was awesome. The burrata was very creamy and tomatoes tasty on toasted French bread. The brussels sprouts frite were crunchy and had a tiny bit of honey on them which was divine. We each had a glass of French white wine which was lovely.
The service was impeccable and we had a perfect lunch. This was my friend’s second visit and I’ll be returning soon too.
I was happy to get a table by the window as I had requested it. Service was great and food was delicious.
The menu needs an update. Nothing too exciting for the price points.
It is an excellent place to eat. The scenery is lovey, food is good and the servers are very good. But, the noise level is awful.
Always excellent! One of our favourite places to eat...
Have eaten here before and it was great value for money. This time the food was bland 3 out of 4 people at our table were disappointed with their meal and did not finish. When we sat down it took 10mins for the server to come over and an additional 20mins after ordering to get our drinks (water and soda). After this experience I would be reluctant to have lunch here again, it is just too bad as the location is great.
I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times as it is very convenient while shopping at Nordstrom. I’ve had good dining experience here before but this time I was very disappointed in both service and food. We were a party of 4 and made a reservation ahead. The hostess greeted us after us standing there for few minutes when the restaurant was empty and she didn’t bother to look at the reservation when I mentioned that we had a reservation. Hence, I got an email from OpenTable saying I missed the reservation when I didn't. Not great. The restaurant was completely empty when we went in and when we asked to be seated a bit further away from the washroom, we were told a flat no, saying the tables were for reservation only and that you had to make a reservation specifying where you wanted to be seated exactly. I told the hostess that we indeed had a reservation and that I didn’t get an option to choose where to be seated, she walked away saying, no, you are wrong. Where was this option when I made a reservation? The waiter/bartender who tended us in the beginning was very friendly but he was replaced by another server. The service we got from her was not great as she forgot one of the items that we ordered and she simply said, oops, sorry. Coffee sat cold without a refill. Water refilled after flagging down the server. The food was mediocre and too salty. I was very disappointed and our party left unhappy - I would not recommend this restaurant.
Good value for such excellent food and ambience. Service can be improved with better training.
Food was disappointing... corn bacon chowder tasted like something from a can. Service was adequate.... had to look ask a few staff to find our server guy to pay the bill. Front desk clerks ....lovely.
Our party of 4 was celebrating our friend's 90th birthday with a Downtown Shopping Spree and lunch at Verde Bistro Thankyou so much for THE BEST TABLE in your bistro...stellar service and fabulous food and drinks!! It was a wonderful experience!!
Wish Bistro Verde had more vegan/vegetarian options.
A favorite place to meet in the centre of downtown. Two friends came from North Vancouver and Burnaby, respectively whole I live in Yaletown, so it is a great place to meet with reasonably priced food.
Thank you Bistro Verde: We all certainly enjoyed our visit to your restaurant. Excellent food and our Server was excellent too. Only one comment: the booth table: the seating was a little snug for the six of us, but we managed and will certainly return and recommend to others,
The special appetizer of the day was incredible.
I am a regular patron here, and always enjoy the good, happy prompt service; unfortunately today was not the case; out waiter, who must be fairly new, forgot to place our order- we figured because about 10 minutes after We ordered, he came back and confirmed our order and then went straight to the order computer and I’m guessing, punched it in again. When we asked for the blinds to be lowered a bit because we were sitting in the sun we were told that they are on timers. I suggest management figure out that the sun has moved and at 12 noon it’s very hot and bright on the south side of the building... when our lunch finally did come we were not asked if we wanted a refill of our drink and I can’t remember being checked on either during our meal. This is not a typical experience at this restaurant.
If by the window on a lovely day, all is set. The spectacular view of Vancouver takes away some of the calories taken in from the tasty food (wishful thinking?) - but the calories! The menu lists every item’s caloric intake! What a way to lose one’s appetite! :( Still, attentive, but not cloying service and a satisfying menu and drink selection made for a very pleasant evening overall! Who knew such a restaurant existed hidden away on the third floor of the men’s water dept at Nordstrom?!? Go, seek it out!
Enjoyed the opportunity to have a good business discussion in a fine setting
A good place for a business lunch.
