Black and Blue; lovely place with an attractive feel. It was quite noisy making conversation a difficult. A wonderful wine list at different price levels. The waitress was a bit distracted with two larger parties. There was a bit of a wait before our order was taken but after that the food was brought over promptly. One of drink orders was incorrect and had to be sent back. A salad which was requested with light dressing was soggy and tasteless. No one offered pepper. However, the oysters were fresh and delicious. The main dishes were done to perfection and the sides were quite good. Two extremely nice gestures were made. Complimentary glasses of bubbly were offered for our special occasion and the salad was removed from the bill.

The food was absolutely amazing. Steaks were perfect. The seafood was fresh and outstanding. Service was very attentive. We had a wonderful evening and will be adding this to our list of favorite restaurants in Rochester.

Nice variety on the menu but it took over 25 minutes for our entrees (after appetizers) to be delivered (party of 3) and when they arrived, two entrees/sides were on the luke-warm side and one was barely warm. The restaurant was 80% full at the time so I can understand the wait, but there is never an excuse for luke-warm food, especially when they caution you that the plate is hot (two were not). The waiter did not stop by during the time between appetizers/entrees to check on us/explain the wait. The restaurant has potential, but needs to have better quality control.

Very impressive wine list! The service was absolutely fantastic as well. My steak was cooked medium to well when I had ordered it medium rare. I politely brought it up, and I got a new steak almost immediately. The manager even came over, talked to us for a bit about the wine, and asked if there was anything else we needed. The excellent recovery made me even more satisfied with the service than if it had been medium rare to begin with. The ambiance is wonderful and intimate, yet energetic. This was our second time at Black and Blue and I sure hope we visit there again.

Why is the steak served on dangerously hot metal plates? My parents could not truly relax and enjoy their steaks because they were afraid of touching a burning metal plate-- what a stupid way to serve meat. It also kept cooking on the hot plate, from what I could tell. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals-- good seafood dishes. The service was a bit questionable at the beginning of the meal-- we sat and sat with no water as myriad servers swept by our table, ignoring us. We felt distinctly un-special at first. After we flagged down a server and he found our server for us, she did a fine job.

This was our second time eating here. The first time was phenomenal, and this time was OK... my ribeye was very thin and was very over cooked from the medium that I ordered. Our bill came to $310 (including tip) for 4 people, and for the food I got I would have been better off eating elsewhere and saving some money!

We enjoyed our special dinner out at Black & Blue, our first time to this restaurant. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful and available whenever we needed without us ever feeling rushed. Our waiter, Chris, was great with the presentation of the specials and his personal recommendations. We are eager to come back soon!

This is the first time I have had dinner here. I had lunch a long time ago and wasn't thrilled, but dinner was a different story. The service was friendly and the food was excellent. Definitely posted on Facebook to friends what a wonderful steak I had here. It was my Mom's first time there and she loved it. She brought home her left overs to my dad and he loved it. I think they will come back together.

We went to Black & Blue Steak & Crab to celebrate Mother's Day. We were a bit early, so the restaurant was relatively empty. We were seated in the more private, upper dining room. The service we received was stellar. Our waiter and his assistants were friendly, professional and helpful. We started out sharing the crab fondue with pita points. It was absolutely fantastic - good consistency, not too cheesy. I had one of the specials (crab stuffed flounder over risotto with asparagus). It was phenomenal. My husband and daughter's friend had steak. My husband (not known for hyperbole) said that his steak was one of the best. My daughter had tuna and raved about it. We look forward to dining at Black & Blue Steak & Crab again!

The atmosphere was great. The food was not so good. The crab fritters were too salty. The waitress brought another appetizer, the kobe meatballs. Those were good. My mother ordered the roasted chicken and the chicken was burnt. My sister ordered the special of stone bass. The fish tasted burnt. The manager was very accommodating, but still charged us for the new food received. I was very disappointed because when I went to the restaurant 4 years ago, the food was good.

Easily the best service I have had in Rochester. Attentive staff that anticipates and is knowledgeable and happy to serve. Love that anyone will attend to your needs without the "its not my table" reply. Seafood was amazing as was the filet mignon. Didnt enjoy the KC strip as much. Crab dip appetizer was so good we could have had that for the meal itself.

it was amazing -- went for the first time for our anniversary and was perfect!! there was a few older kids there, but wouldnt take our 4 year old, so a perfect "adult" dinner!!! the portions were large and alot of variety!!! our server and bussers were funny and personalable- very willing to please! everything was great- cant say enough good stuff!!

As a I've had a bad week, lets give this place a shot type of whim, I took my friend out to dinner. We got there, and were instantly impressed with the decor. Sat down, took longer then usual to order due to the many delicious items.. but what we did order was cooked to absolute perfection. I need a much better job so I can go there more often haha. :D

Second time there on a trip to Buffalo. Filets were great again. Creamed spinach fantastic. Service and prices are really good too. Only one problem: they canceled my Open Table reservation when I was a little late even though I called and said I was running late! Still, really enjoyable place and I'll return.

I ordered crab legs and my husband ordered a steak. My crab was excellent. My husbands steak was burned. The manager took it off the check for us. Service was superb. We will give the retaurant another chance.

We went for the "Restaurant Week" pre-fixe menu and the steak and swordfish were mediocre. It was our first time visiting, so maybe if we'd ordered off the menu the food would have been better. The mashed potatoes and breads were great, though!

Food at Black & Blue is consistently very good. They have good specials and service is prompt and courteous. The decor is modern, but the noise level tends to be high, so it takes away from the ambiance a bit.

I was actually very disappointed with our experience at Black & Blue. I took my fiancé there for a special dinner, I did not feel that the restaurant met my expections. I orders a streak and it was burned to the point I could not eat the out side of it, my fiancé had the restaurant week special and her potatoes were runny. She needed a spoon to eat them.

"Restaurant week" promotion grossly underadvertised, its actually a decent deal! Cornbread croutons are awesome though dessert (cherry torte) left something to be desired. Still a nice night out with delicious food.

We ate here during Restaurant Week and stuck to the special menu with the exception of beverages. Service was superb. Both diners ordered sirloin steak and were well pleased with the flavor and cut but the meat was a trifle underdone for "Medium". Cornbread croutons in the salad were a different twist and the plate of assorted breads were delicious. Almond Cherry Tart was obviously freshly baked and the flavor was intensely buttery with a healthy amount of almond flavoring. Chocolate truffles with the check were a pleasant surprise. Will happily return to this restaurant.

My wife and I went there for our 10th anniversary. I had arranged to have flowers delivered for the table and the B&B staff took care of everything flawlessly. The Tuna tartar appetizer was amazing and the portion was dinner sized! The oysters were tasty too but small. The oyster sauces were a real treat! I had the chopped salad which was huge! More like a dinner salad! We both had Fillet, the 8oz size which was absolutely one on the most flavorful fillets Ive ever had and cooked to absolute perfection! We both had asparagus as our side and i had a side of button mushrooms. Our server Tom was easily the best server we've ever had at a restaurant. He made our 1st Black & Blue experience truly a night to remember! We'll be back soon!

Over priced with average at best food and poor plate presentations. For instance, "Cheddar Fries" side appeared to be, and tasted like, frozen fries with powdered parmesan cheese added in excess.
