The sides are almost as good as the steaks! Most steakhouses are lacking in side quality. This place does both very well
The service was slow. The main course stated before appetizers. I had to pick three wines before finding one that they had in stock. And although I have been there several times they always give me a terrible table - ones near the washrooms, kitchen or front door - which is understandable if they are busy, but when half the restaurant is empty it is inexcusable.
We had eaten here in September of 2018 and had such a great meal that I wanted to return for a repeat. Unfortunately, the prime rib was very chewy and the Yorkshire pudding was inedible - it was like it had hardened and overcooked under the heat lamp. The best part of the meal was the caesar salad (prepared table-side) and the butter cake. It was also very expensive for the quality.
Good service, good food and nice environment ;) We had a great time !
Everyone was great. I’ve had a lot of experience with black and blue but I have to say that the staff were so great today. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating but I have to give props to our waiter in the dining area. He went above and beyond. Thank you 😊 It made my friend’s birthday even more special.
TOur waiter was attentive with just the right amount of chat. Great narrative while making the caesar salad at our table. The food was so delicious. My husband raved about the mashed potatoes and the blueberry creme brulee> He said they were the best he ever ate. That is saving a lot. Thanks for the wonderful time.
Food was amazing, server was kind and nice but service was slow
The service is truly excellent! I’m willing to come back in the future!
Amazing restaurant, a most go if you are in Vancouver.
Came for a work dinner with overseas clients. Ambience, food, service were all fantastic. We were seated on the second level by the window which also offered a good view of the street activity below.
Great selection of local wines which matched well with the Canadian dry aged beef. Same with the sides which were suggested by the very helpful server who gave recommendations on local and seasonal dishes. Good selection of desserts as well. Price was very reasonable for the quality of the steak, wine and ambiance.
Noise level was a touch too high for good conversation. As it was a work dinner with some clients, it was a missed opportunity for us. Probably a result of the straight and angled surfaces of the walls and ceilings.
Regardless, it was an enjoyable dinner. Our clients were impressed. We will be back.
My third visit. Great place to entertain clients. Food and service is first rate.
Rib eye steak, mashed potatoes & Brussels sprouts .
Rib eye had too much tendon so it was hard to chew something
Our waiter, Bob, was amazing and we had a very good overall experience here. Will definitely return.
Went for an anniversary dinner. Food was good and our sever was lovely. Since were celebrating our wedding anniversary as well as Mother’s Day, we were given a free desert and a couple glasses of champagne to enjoy after dinner. Very nice of the restaurant to do. We always like coming here.
Bob makes the best Caesar Salad on the West Coast.
This restaurant is awesome. Great seating and nice service. The meat was cooked as expected, the macaroni sticks are awesome. We will return.
Amazing food and amazing service. Great manners and etiquette by staff.
We were celebrating my birthday, and had indicated that when making our reservation. Our server greeted us with a pleasant birthday wish, and there was a complimentary dessert with a candle at the end of the meal: a very nice level of recognizing a personal event. Apart from that, we knew what to expect and were not disappointed: excellent steaks and delicious accompaniments in an attractive space. Thank you!
Nice service. Found the booth to be a little tight. My client described it as “economy class”. We declared one of our party to be allergic to shellfish and the staff was very attentive to that. One manager came to give us a quality check moments after he had been out for a cigarette break. Slightly unpleasant. Steaks were great and perfectly cooked. This was my first visit. Will probably try again.
Been a while since we went here. Many of the dishes came cold which was a bit disappointing. Primarily was disappointed with the handling of a situation of another guest: another guest became sick within our eyelines as our food was delivered and they did not allow us to move tables despite asking numerous times. I lost my appetite and nothing was done to rectify the situation save for the guest being escorted to a taxi.
Visiting Vancouver for the first time and needed a place to celebrate a special birthday - we were so pleased with our experience, and cant stop talking about the food! Great location downtown and well decorated interior. We had a booth table on the second floor, which was great for our group of four. Our food was taking a little bit to come out (we had all been catching up and enjoying ourselves that we had not even noticed), but the manager came over and apologized and brought over complimentary table side spinach salad, which was a fun experience and delicious! The waiter helped us find a nice bottle of wine, and was not at all put off by our request to find something that was good, but also budget friendly. At the end of the meal our waiter brought out a complimentary birthday dessert plate, which was a great touch to our celebration. I was able to put a "birthday note" in my booking, so I did not have to sneak off to tell the waiter. Calamari, au gratin potatoes, brussel sprouts, beef tenderloin, beef wellington were all amazing! Next time we visit we will spring for the tomahawk!
The food was disappointing, the prime rib was over cooked and the sides came out very very late
Before ordering, the waiter comes by with samples of all of their cuts of steak. I felt like they were really trying to push their incredibly expensive Wagyu steaks. I understand that these steaks are very high quality, but the whole process felt very much like we were being "upsold" to buy this steak which I'm sure they make a very good profit margin.
I went with my wife to celebrate our anniversary, I very much appreciated the complimentary sweets that they provided.
Great service and very tasty food
We got engaged at Black and Blue and it was amazing. The place is beautiful, Scott our waiter was amazing and even de manager ¿Kim? came over to congratulate us and gave us a bottle of wine as courtesy.
The food was delicious (stake tartar and a rib eye, iceberg lettuce with bacon and ranch dressing and delicious brussel sprouts.
The bar at the top is pretty cool also!
I'm looking forward to coming back!
my girlfriend and I went for happy hour so the value was fantastic
My wife and I enjoyed the privilege of dining at your beautiful restaurant to celebrate our 33rd anniversary. Your restaurant came recommended by our daughter and her husband. We were extremely appreciative of the service and attention we received from our server Lloyd Wagoner so much so that we asked him for his name. Attention was given to the smallest details to enhance our experience.
We were a bit disappointed in our choice of meat (prime rib). This is our favorite .The portion and presentation was perfect. My wife and I both found it to be somewhat chewy to the point where we had to discard. We were a little embarrassed to return our plates at the completion of our first course with discarded meat. We made no mention of this to our server.
Our overall experience was memorable and we will definitely return. We posted a five star review on Trip Advisor which reflected our true impression of your establishment.
Thank you again for a wonderful experience.

Awesome server (_Chris I believe)
Food was amazing and service was great! Would definitely return.
Waiter was great, food and drinks were incredible! All in all an excellent experience.
We had to wait at least 20 minutes before our order could be taken and the service from start to when food came out was really slow and unexpected of a high end restaurant. Not sure if maybe it was due to a busy night since we dined on a Sat.
There are many flies, and one of them touched my bread.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious. the restaurant was a little loud at times they Could possibly use the space in the back for seating people with infants and small children.
Came to this restaurant 2 years ago amazing experience. This time not so much. Steak.. was disappointing.. let’s just say threw a napkin on a $200 steak. The waiter clearly couldn’t handle his section and lost out on sales due to his negligence. Was so looking forward to this evening and was sadly disappointed. What was once held to such a high standard is no longer.
A few of the steaks were cold, the butter on top would not melt. The hot slate that it was served on did not help warm up a cold steak. The wedge salad did not taste good. Service was good, atmosphere was great, but food quality did not meet expectation. This likely was due to the busy kitchen on Friday night, but it would not be a place I would bring my out of town guest to again, especially on the start of the weekend.
Great food and the service was excellent.
Very enjoyable. Food was great. Doesn’t get much better than a patio on a sunny Friday!
