Amazing as always
Went on a date with high expectations of this restaurant while visiting Vancouver. However, we were seated within view of the kitchen and waited on by the bartending staff. Although they did their best, we did not receive the same service as the guests around us. My husband also had to send his steak back because it was way over cooked. Overall, not what we expected. We totally missed out on the “experience” one should receive when paying for a expensive dinner.
I have eaten at black and blue several times.
During our recent visit we invited an out of town guest to join us for dinner.
All of us agreed that The quality of the food has definitely decreased.
Service was very good though.
Average. Very nice waitress. Food was so so. Real question is; Would I go back? Not likely.

We ordered steaks to be cooked medium rare. They were well done. Normally we get a good quality meal but this was a bit of disappointment.
Went here for my husbands birthday. I made a note on the reservation but they didn’t even wish him a happy birthday. We were moved mid way through appetizers because the kitchen was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation and the food was ok. Caesar salad was made at table but overly dijon mustard and the roasted cauliflower was alright - nothing special. For a $200 meal it was lack luster and a bit disappointing.
We were visiting Vancouver and looking to spoil ourselves with a fancy steak dinner. I looked on Trip Advisor and found that Black+Blue was rated very highly, so I thought we would try it. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. We started with an order of the fresh bread, which was actually the highlight of the meal. It was warm and delicious! We also had the caesar salad, which was also excellent -- very authentic. I ordered the porterhouse (to share with my daughter) for $150. I guess I was expecting something fantastic. What I got was average. It was neither tender nor flavourful. My wife got the prime rib, which was similarly underwhelming. Our final bill, was around $350. So, I guess my opinion is...if you want good bread and caesar salad, this is a good place to go. If you want phenomenal steak, look elsewhere.
Very good experience! The staff was friendly and our server was very informative about all the different cuts of steaks which led us to choose a steak that was excellent! Could of been a bit more attentive throughout the evening, but otherwise an amazing experience and we will definitely be going back!
Glad to see they now offer great Cdn beef. The food is great as expected, the roof is a fabulous place on a sunny afternoon. And just the right amount of attention from our pleasant server.

Our server was not attentive and at times was even unfriendly. As a result we tipped only 5% - to which she was even more miffed and immediately snotty toward us.
One server is obviously not a full appraisal of the restaurant as a whole, however the experience for us was quite underwhelming.
The atmosphere was nice though, outside on the rooftop, and the food was good. For how expensive it was, however, we expected more.
We ordered a meat & cheese tray, the selection was limited and was poor.
Lobster was bland, but not disappointing.
Steak was spectacular and impressive.
Excellent food as always. The meat here has been superb every visit. The sides are every bit as good and the portion size is larger than one might expect. We were unable to finish our delicious side dishes.
The sommelier was very knowledgeable and his advice was spot on.
Our server was relatively new at the restaurant and his product knowledge was not 100%, but he didn't try to bluff his way through when asked a difficult question, but rather went to check and came back with totally correct information.
Pricing is not unreasonable for the quality, but high enough that I will only go for special occasions.

Our waiter went above and beyond to make our experience a great one. Robust wine list with an on-site sommelier. Highly recommend ordering the steaks Chicago style, which was a recommendation of the waiter, but will be my new go-to for ordering. The Mac and Cheese fries may have been the best thing I have ever tasted.
We dined on the roof, which was lovely. The food tasted great, but a member of our group contracted some type of food bourne illness within hours of eating there.
We came over for our wedding anniversary from Victoria and had been recommended to come for dinner here.
The service was amazing. Our waiter Jeffery was very attentive and concerned about my allergies.
Dinner was wonderful and we were even surprised to have dessert show up with a happy Anniversary message on it. Jeffery even took the time to take us upstairs to see the rooftop patio that we had wondered about which is a more casual atmosphere.
We highly recommend if you are in Vancouver to stop by and enjoy. We will be back.
The food was beyond delicious and Black & Blue just has a really elegant, hip vibe. Our server Jeff was incredible.
The four of us shared a bone-in NY strip + the Ahi Tuna, the Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and broccolini and had them portion it out on a platter. I had never seen this before, cool presentation which made it easy to share.
Will definitely be visiting again when next in Vancouver.
This was the best steak dinner we ever had. Jeff was a great server. Would recommend to everyone. A great experience!

Oysters are great during happy hour especially after the fish shack closure.

My friend and i shared the steak and seafood platter, with enough ledt over for a third serving.
Service was betond expectations, and the food was divine. I have been to many upscale dining places as a result of my work travels, and know what to expect, and have been underwhelmed at others... not here at Black and Blue. Service, food, ambiance, wine selection, and i could go on. So incredibly comfortable, delicious, and just plain wonderful. I only wish i lived in the area, so i could come back more often.
The service is excellent, the waiter really was kind and knew a lot, made a lot of suggestions. I never go to places like this because I'm poor but I actually think the experience was worth it. The ambiance is lovely and the food was phenomenal. We will come back here for sure

Not allergy friendly. Exreme space issues, I felt as if I was on an airplane. Horrible service, extremely unfriendly staff, the exception to the hostesses, who where amazing. Not to mention a ridiculously high price tag.

Had been wanting to try this place for a while and we finally did. Honestly, we were not disappointed at all. Seating could've been better but it was just a matter of communicating what options they have available. We were given, "upstairs" or "downstairs". Given their location, we thought they had a patio and we weren't interested in sitting outside, so thinking that "downstairs" was some sort of a underground level, we opted for that one and it was basically the same level as the kitchen/common area. So, again, it was just a matter of communicating clearly what the options are. Apart from that, the food was fantastic! The service was undeniably excellent and we would absolutely recommend this place to others & visit again.
Steak Dianne is not table side and filet seemed underweight and was served well when medium was ordered.

Firstly the table was in a small area out front. Totally no ambience Wine list is good and that’s it. The food was atrocious. From the limp small shrimp in the “prawn cocktail” to the hideous presentation on old worn plates of the chateaubriand for 2 this was one of the worst meals we have ever experienced at any price point. The seasonal vegetables were under cooked carrots. Not seasonal not really an appropriate vegetable. The mashed potatoes were bland and gross. The worst part here was everything was stone cold. Really. Stone cold. It’s almost as if they were testing us and we failed because we didn’t send everything back. Horrid treatment considering in the outcast area we were seated in our wine probably cost more than 3 tables worth of dining. If I could call my credit card and claim services not rendered I would. That’s how bad. I don’t mind paying for the wine. It was amazing. Too bad the food sucked. Also the valets might want to learn about Lamourginis as they set off the alarm too many times, again adding to the heinous ness of the evening. We spent $1100 and truly had the worst experience ever. Be warned they clearly don’t treat everyone equally.
I’ve never had a good steak there , it’s overpriced and bland .
Our server was Francesca and she was amazing! Steak was the best I have ever had. We are looking forward to our next visit.
I had the beef Wellington which was very good. My family ordered Brussels sprouts and prawns that were so spicy they could not finish it. We ordered one of their signature cocktails and a moscow mule, they were so bitter we sent them back (the bartender was new), ended up ordering new drink that were drinkable but not great which was disappointing.

A good ambience, great food and good service
Wagyu Steak was cooked perfectly and the meat was brought to the table before cooking. Overall fantastic experience and very attentive waitress.
The restaurant promotes looking in the meat locker to see the cuts of meat age, so check it out from any of the levels in the place. Very large wine and cocktail lists to peruse.
Bread is an appetizer here, served hot and tasty and baked to order. French onion soup has a lot of flavor. The two of us had the Chateaubriand and barely finished it with the large portions. It was so good that even the carrots were amazing.
Gigi did a great job explaining and demonstrating the menu choices.
