Food was great!
Had a bad experience here last year was not really all that inclined to return. This visit was the exact opposite food was perfect and service was what I was expecting the last time I was here.
Our second time at Black and Blue and this time we brought friends and they loved it as well!
service was good, really nice for special occasions or dates. good food
Not sure I’d like the Vday menu to happen again. We were able to add (one substitution was intended but was missed by our server) a few items that were creature comforts for us on the menu, but the value of course increased. Our server was nice. She was attentive, but no one compares to Brandon. Maybe it’s time to give up our favorite table in favor of having Brandon as our server extraordinaire. The food was excellent. The only downer was my boyfriends split pea soup. It was only enjoyable with the garlic bread that accompanied it. We still love B+B but may just stick to visiting on full menu days.
Went for Valentine’s Day, had a set menu but in our opinion was not worth money spent. For a restaurant that wasn’t extremely busy on that night and for a set menu, the servers were not as attentive and seemed to be distracted. Our drinks were waiting for refills and food took forever to come out. Hoping for a better experience.
Our server was very friendly
The food was amazing. Staff even better than the food! The only reason this didn't get a perfect score was the price of a single caeser. $10 for a run of the mill drink was a bit of sticker shock. I don't mind paying a heavy price for something that stands out but that was a let down. Otherwise, every single other component was there for a perfect dinner date.
Horrible! Had a reservation. Showed up 30 minutes early. The restaurant had 6 tables being used so very quiet. The hostess informed us we had an hour to eat and leave because it was Valentines. We were there at 3:30?! We understand Valentines is busy but even if we had been there for 2 hours I don’t see the issue and if it was going to be an issue a call from the restaurant prior to arriving would have been useful. We felt so devalued we didn’t even stay.
Great allround experience
Amazing service. Amazing food. Everyone is just so friendly. Amazing vibes. I Would go back for any occasion.
Service was average and the food was not what we expected in quality. Steaks had just okay flavor. One of the steaks was over cooked. Tuna Poke tasted fishy. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. Ambiance was great but for the price I would go elsewhere.
The serivce was really nice. The ceasar salad was AMAZING. But that’s the only reason I would go back. I thought the steak tasted like cardboard, no flavour at all. And the sides were awful, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were made from potato flakes and were similar to cream of wheat. The potato gratin tasted like over cooked baby food. Just awful. I would stop in there for the salad and some drinks but would never have dinner there agian. You can go to almost any other restaurant to get a better steak.
A good steakhouse and we had a nice meal. That said, nothing stood out with the food quality for me, not that anything was bad... In my opinion, the key difference between B&B and a Gotham or Hy's in Vancouver is that B&B consistently offers a much lower quality of service. The entrance staff and bar service are not very attentive and unseasoned, and the servers are 'hit and miss' for an upscale restaurant. In general, the Global Group restaurants have pretty good levels of service so this spot is an anomaly in my opinion.
I brought my friends from Edmonton visiting to Black and Blue for the first time and they loved it! We were celebrating my girlfriend’s 21st birthday and the service was impeccable and all the foods was delicious. They had an amazing time and loved the restaurants decor and service. We’ll be coming again with them in the summer when the rooftop patio is open!
Very friendly staff and great food
I was blown away by everything...I will definitely consider going again
Food was great, very pricy for what you get but otherwise very good.
Celebrating a wedding
Try everything here. Top quality food but even better ambiance
Vancouver has a shortage of world class steak houses. This place is one of the best and is almost as good as Hy’s in most regards though not as good as when it first opened. Steaks are solid but not stellar. Service is a bit parochial and verges on the rude familiarity that’s been ubiquitous in Vancouver since the Keg opened its doors years ago and the waiters would help themselves to your food.
I wish whoever was training all the staff in all the big places in this city would visit the famous places in New York, Chicago and LA to see how it’s done.
And Then maybe they’ll stop calling me Bud.
Another awesome experience at the rooftop lounge at B&B.
A definite go to place for meeting up with friends for appies and cocktails.
See you again soon!!
Our steaks were cold by the time they got the table, not what you want from a steak restaurant. The portion size was also very small for the price. Will not be going back anytime soon
Great food, great service very happy altogether with my experience. Will definitely come back again.
Great food and drinks. Our server was awesome. She suggested really good dishes and drinks. My partner and I were celebrating an anniversary and we were given a complimentary dessert. Overall great experience.
I absolutely love the servers. They take the extra step to satisfy your needs.
Went here for the Buy Out dinner, If I was given the opportunity to do it all over again, I would, we all would (dinner companions)
We are regulars here and always receive great food and excellent service!
seafood wasn't feel fresh, but steak was really good!
Seems like the quality of the Global chain is going downhill. I will never return to Tratoria on Kingsway, and after dinner at Black and Blue, I may have to boycott all Global restaurants. I would have rather had a street dog for 1/20th the price.
We went on Saturday night for Dine Out Vancouver and we loved it. The food was delicious, the decor is stunning, great atmosphere. Thanks to our amazing server Emily D. So friendly and welcoming, she went above and beyond. We had a blast, we definitely will be back! 🙂
We certainly enjoyed Black & Blue. The hostess was delightful. The food was incredible! Definitely the best steak we've ever had by far and away. The birthday cake was a wonderful surprise touch as well. The only note we would say is that we were seated in what felt like a bit of an afterthought space created to squeeze more tables in. It was a bit squish by the front windows in the corner and we didn't get to enjoy the opulence of the main dinning room which was disappointing. The space also filled with a strong chill each time the front door opened which was quite uncomfortable and we were happy we did not check our jackets. However, by far and away what made our night truly enjoyable was our lovely waiter, Austin. We would certainly recommend this venue to you and yours and are looking to return. Our only advice is to ask for the main dinning room when making your reservation. Enjoy!
Excellent service, wouldn't recommend the mushroom or the brussel sprouts personally, but the main course and desert were fine.
Great dining experience!
A disappointing experience. My partner and I love amazing food and we were looking forward all month to dinning out at Black and Blue. When the opportunity came to reserve a spot during dine out we were thrilled. The anticipation of the evening was the best part of the entire event. When we arrived, we were seated at the front of the restaurant in a small little closed off area which felt like a closet when compared to the size of the restaurant. I had the salmon appetizer and filling in the salmon tart was bland and tasted like canned salmon. The entre came immediately and I felt as though we were being forced to finish our meal as quickly as possible. The entre was average but certainly not up to the expectations of a high end steak restaurant. The dessert was average. Our waiter was a very kind young man but at no time were we asked if we wanted to sample anything else from the menu.
My impression of Black and Blue is that management is only interested in offering an amazing dinning experience to their regular high end clients. I do not recommend the restaurant.
Birthday dinner, first time there everything was great. Will definitely be going back.
Wagyu beef was done poorly. Especially the knife! The whole wagyu beef was ruined. Not worthy of $80.00
Friends come visit me! Very good place
