Zero stars. The food was terrible. My order of 'fish and chips' came in extra soggy. The manager acknowledged the terrible quality and offered the Bronzino, instead. My response was that if the chef is unable to pull off 'fish and chips' I would seriously doubt about his Bronzino. So I came home hungry...
My husband and I were celebrating our 17th anniversary and this experience was just very disappointing. I don't know what we were thinking... there are so many great restaurants in Annapolis. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Needless to say, we will never go back.
While the food was good, the service was a bit of a disaster. We had a reservation and they sat us in the newly finished and very cold upper deck. And then 20 minutes after they sat our party, they called to ask where we were. Wait staff was pleasant but just very slow. The food was good, but when our meal finally came, some of it was cold. I'd consider giving the restaurant another try because I enjoyed the food, but from friend's stories, it sounds like the service is generally spotty.
Excellent food, great service. We will definitely be back!
Food was good, but it took a long time to get it. Server was friendly and attentive enough. Food was pricey, but no more than other restaurants in the area. Restaurant was loud with staff bustling about all over the place.
We haves loved brunch since our first visit a few years ago. We celebrated the day after our wedding with friends and family. Great spread with elevated comfort.
First time here, and my wife and I had a tremendous meal, and really enjoyed our experience!
Usually a really great spot to go to. Some of the food wasn’t up to their usual standards this visit. We were celebrating my 30th birthday so I asked for an experienced server. They ended up letting my original server go early and replaced him with a server who was inexperienced. It was his first day, he was forgetful and didn’t know how to pronounce many of the items on the menu. Understandable for it being his first day but I can’t understand why management thought he could handle a larger party.
Usually love the food but I had a new dinner and it was full of fish bones little disappointed as it wasn’t cheap... but I’ll get back again!
Wonderful food and service as always! We have been to the Blackwell in Rehoboth many times and the Annapolis location is just as lovely.
Great place nice ambience good food and I would go back
We really enjoyed eating in the rooftop dining room. The food and service were excellent.
Great food, service, and inexpensive! You'll love it!
Food was amazing! Roberto was our server and he was wonderful! His recommendations were very good and we enjoyed speaking with him and Bear. Thank you!
Went here for brunch, had been previously for dinner. All of the brunch items I tried were awesome. I really enjoyed the food, the selections were great and well prepared for buffet style.... everything was fresh and tasty.
I loved the relaxed atmosphere. You could dress up or dress down and still feel comfortable. The wait staff was very accommodating and friendly. We changed our table twice to get the perfect spot near the band. The live music was excellent and our meals were good. Note: small portions . I included a picture of the Day Boat Sea Scallops & Saffron Risotto Entree.
I recommend the Fresh Pear martini. It was perfectly crafted and delicious.
Blackwall Hitch could easily be one of my favorite restaurants in Annapolis, MD.
Seemed to be a little “slammed” on the service
Fun place to visit, especially on weekend. Enjoyed the number of young children there early in the evening; obviously family friendly
We had reservations for 4 to celebrate a birthday and were seated fairly quickly. However, after being given our menus we did not have contact with a server until about 10 minutes after being seated. The server seemed flustered and explained that she saw us just sitting there, basically indicating that she saw we were being ignored by the person who was supposed to be our server. She got us our waters and other beverages. The appetizer came out in a decent amount of time, but we waited about 25 minutes after to receive our entrees. The music was also a little loud so it was difficult to have a conversation with the others at the table. Not sure that I'll be back as the food was mediocre at best and the service was lacking. I had heard not great things about this restaurant before but decided to try it myself. Now I know.
So we decided to try out Blackwall Hitch tonight for date night. It was our first time there, and when we showed up for our 5:30 reservation, the restaurant wasn’t empty but had plenty of free tables and booths. The hostess showed us a booth, but before we could sit down, another hostess said that we can’t sit there. The second hostess said that they were having 400 people tonight, and there was no way they could sit 2 people in a booth... those booths would have to be used for parties of 4 or more. After the second hostess argued with our original hostess for an uncomfortable minute about not being able to seat us in a booth (with us standing right there, as if we were invisible), we decided to just get seated at the 2 person table to avoid making a scene. 15 minutes into our dinner, we noticed that the same hostess who refused to allow us to sit in a booth seated a couple in a booth next to us. 10 minutes later, she attempted to seat another couple in another booth next to us, but they decided that they didn’t want a booth. The food was ok for the price point, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. As we wrapped up dinner, we asked to speak to the manager about the booth situation (there was still a free booth at the end of our dinner). The manager said that he would talk to the second hostess. I hope he has. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, my wife and I are black. The couples who were offered booths were white. We lived in North Carolina for 9 years before moving to Annapolis and didn’t experience what we felt tonight despite living in the south for that period. Very disappointing experience.
The food was really good! The restaurant style is very nice. The parking is very convenient. The service was not the best.
Great food, fresh and prepared to perfection. Love the Maryland crab soup! Server was attentive and never kept us wanting or waiting for anything.
Food was hit/miss. Scallops were amazing but risotto served with them flavorless. Fish/chips soggy and disappointing, but cream of crab soup amazing.
Extremely loud, initially seated by bar... they did their best to reseat us... but service was understaffed. Still had soup bowls on our table as eating main course.
Overall, even with their effort to be accommodating, a huge disappointment.
Acoustics were bad. Too loud for conversations. We had a party of 6
Wait staff very good, knew menu well. Made sure my request for a chocolate dessert was carried for the birthday person.
My husband and I have frequented the restaurant often and never been disappointed. However, on this afternoon something was very off. The restaurant was practically empty at 1:30 PM yet after our order was taken there was an inordinate amount of time before we received our order. My husband and I ordered the mussels because we had ordered them many times before and they were outstanding and delicious. This time the minute they were placed in front of us we knew there was a problem. They were not hot , dried out stretched and barely clinging to their shells and very over cooked and rubbery. We both had many unopened mussels too. I would have returned them but we had brought out of town guests and did not want to fuss. They were disappointed in their lukewarm grits and scallops. We will give it one more try hoping it was the dishwasher cooking that day and not the chef. Our waitress even commented when placing our orders in front of us that, “ something was off “. It was a remark not elaborated upon and disregarded but having had time to reflect on our experience I am left wondering.
Enjoyed our visit. Lovely decor. Service was flawless. Good crabcake. Needs Old Bay.
I unfortunately took my grandparents here and we sat next to multiple loud birthday parties drinking mimosas at 2pm. The brunch crowd was really rowdy and having a great time. It made it hard to talk and really enjoy our time together. We went for my mother and grandmother's birthday and I put it on the reservation, it was not brought up which is fine. The service was hurried since she was very busy and could barely hear us. We will not return with my elderly family. Yes we should have asked the manager to move, but I don't know where they would have put us that was quieter. Maybe the manager should think about noise level when he sees two people wearing ear aides, as we talked to him before we were seated. Not a place for conversation.
I was disappointed in the service this time. Had to keep asking server to refill water glasses, he forgot a side food order, and a bar drink. Food was good.
Service, Heather and Hostess, were great. However the area that we sat wasn’t tended too prior to our seating. We had to ask for the floor to be cleaned ...their response was immediate which was good. This wasn’t our first visit however the food was just average, nothing spectacular. We were there for a special occasion that wasn’t acknowledged either...that was disappointing.
Dined there for an anniversary dinner. The main dining room was lovely, and we could see that they also provide several private dining areas that look great for groups. The dinner started off wonderfully with an amazing grilled watermelon salad. But the rest of our meal was very hit or miss. A few things were good, but a few items were overly salty. My husband typically has a much higher tolerance for salty food than I do, and he agreed that the french fries and crab cakes were way too salty. We didn't realize how much this affected our enjoyment of the rest of the meal (we ate them anyway because we didn't want to waste it), but we left rather disappointed given the cost of the meal. I would be willing to give it another try, but I'll be ordering less expensive options next time.
Everything is Awesome!!!
The food & service was excellent. A REAL taste of Maryland in the mix. This was brunch with my family and we could not have been more pleased. Thank you for a great experience!!
Brandy was GREAT!!!
Went for 15th Anniversary, was very cozy and romantic will definitely return
Everything was great but we had the fortune to be helped by Hilary who works in this cozy restaurant. Hilary was very welcoming and professional. She is great on suggesting us the local craft beer and the special crab cakes they made there. Absolutely recommended.
Our Waitress was phenomenal, the manager was so engaged throughout the restaurant to ensure we were attended to. The food left a lasting impression and we will definitely be back at the Annapolis location!
Very friendly staff. The food was different and tasty. The greatest assets, it is in Annapolis and has PARKING!
Food is different but very good. Great seafood choices.
My only complaint was that it was incredibly hot in there. I don’t believe their ac was working
