Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant
Beautiful spot for dining and sunsets
Was an awesome spot to stop for lunch. Would go back again for sure next time iam in the area.
Tuna salad not worth the money! Not much to it!! Shrimp salad had only 4 shrimp! Not worth the money! Service was good! Food s bit expensive for what you get!
The only negative point was the music.. it was still valentine spirit and the music didnt do the romantic ambiance ...
Everything else was perfect!!!!
Our waitress was very attentive and kept checking if we were ok but food service was extremely slow. The Arctic char was slightly over cooked and my salad was over dressed. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely. Beautiful views!
Nice to see the new menu at this old haunt! We realize that the menu changes seasonally but it just wasn’t clicking for us for quite some time. We’ll now be back :)
Restaurant is very inviting - patio or inside. Service has been excellent on each visit as has the food. This time I found it distracting that the Mgr was working at a table in the restaurant and having fairly loud phone conversations. Really he should have been more aware. Also a window facing booth overlooked an area with trash cans and necessary items but could be camoflaged as the draw is to be able to look out at the river traffic.
Overall it was a really good experience. We went for dine out Vancouver - it would have been nice if it was explained to us at the start. The server came for our drink order, Then came back two separate times for appy orders. She was very polite and maybe a little shy. The food was excellent. I got sable fish and salmon which both had excellent taste. The curry with the salmon wasn’t overpowering at all and was just right.
Great food & service. Excellent overall.
Been there twice & both times we enjoyed dinning @ Blue Canoe.
We had the Dine Out Vancouver menu, pirtions were plentiful, all the food was tasty. Service was good
Wonderful Restaurant - right on the water - food was delivered quickly - staff was very friendly.
I have dined at this restaurant many, many times and the food quality is consistently inconsistent. Sometimes it has been pretty good, but more often the quality, flavors, and portion size have been really disappointing. You should honestly be embarrassed by what you call fish tacos. There was hardly any fish and what was in there was cold, dry, grey and so fishy tasting. The tacos were drowned in what tasted like jarred taco sauce. The Caesar salad wasn’t good, wasn’t bad, wasn’t memorable. You can and have done better. The view is great, the servers are great but the food really needs work. And yes, we should have sent it back but the kitchen shouldn’t need the customers to point out terrible food and poor quality ingredients.
The food was good, the server was very friendly and attentive but the ambiance was not there. There was no background music and being a slower night, it was almost awkward to converse at the table.
Price of the Dine Out menu is same as most expensive restaurants in town but this local, although nice, can not be held at the same level of other more sophisticated restaurants with the same price for the event. Food was good in general but a big complaint with the steaks, we ordered medium rare and they were cooked to perfection inside but they were charred on the outside (on the grill marks) so the taste of the burned meat ruined the meal.
The food and wine was good. Waterfront location. But I won't recommend the sweet.
Excellent service. Had all Appies, food was very good.
The restaurant was busy and noisy near the entrance but the management gave us a prefect seat in front of the fireplace away from the crowds, perfect for an evening of conversation.
The meals came one at a time. Soup was cold and sent back. By the time the fourth meal came another one had more than half of their meal eaten.
Old and poor quality buns for the sliders. Good service however you need to serve a basket of bread. We had some difficulty booking reservation online for our desired time even though the restaurant was almost empty.
Nice ambience. No pressure to leave when done eating. I would certainly go back.
Unfortunately, we took some friends from out of town to the Blue Canoe. It was disappointing & embarrassing. I booked a view table for 4 a couple of weeks in advance & the weather cooperated. It was a lovely day however, the service was abysmal & they weren’t even that busy. A table for 6 came in after us & were served well before us. The server/s were friendly but useless. Finally, our lunch arrived but only for 3 of us. We had to wait for a good 5 minutes or more for the 4th meal to be served & that was only after we inquired about the 4th meal. No apologies either. My husband & I love fish tacos. We order them at most restaurants. The Blue Canoe’s were tasteless & had very little fish in them. For $17.95, they were a complete rip-off. We won’t be going again & I certainly wouldn’t take friends there or recommend it to anyone. As I said, I was very embarrassed that we entertained friends from out of town & had such a poor & disappointing experience. Never again.
One out of two visits: food was very slow and no bread or anything was offered. The other time, it was timely.
Some meals overpriced.
But view amazing and staff friendly!
Great dinner out, excellent service, wonderful view! I had the stuffed salmon, my wife had a steak, both were cooked to perfection!
Service was excellent! Views are beautiful! Food was fine- nothing stood out as fabulous.
We have been to this restaurant a number of times and always enjoy a view on the patio and the food. I am giving an overall 3-star rating because my partner made three drink orders with the server and each time she came back saying they were out of that product or unable to make it. At the end of it all she didn't even offer to compensate the corona that was finally ordered. Additionally, one of the daily specials was unavailable as they had run out. I have never experienced so many unavailable products in one sitting at a restaurant.
The fish’n chips is surprisingly good. Good simple flavour. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The portion is huge. Chips are nicely fried. One of the better fish’n chips in Vancouver. Unfortunately that’s about the only good thing in our 6-person dinner. The appetizers: calamari is mediocre at best. Batter isn’t crispy and the flavour isn’t there. Bacon poutine is forgettable. Mussels is just ok (again, forgettable)—one dimensional flavour, a little on the salty side. Salmon burger is fishy and tasteless, although the salmon is nicely cooked. The worst dish is the fish tacos. The two tacos are obscenely huge with a lot of unnecessary ingredients. The fish is “blackened”. The result? Big muddled and very confusing flavour. You have a mouth full of food but you can’t seem to taste anything—huge mistake when it comes to seafood. It seems to me that the chef is trying too hard. Sometimes when you put too many different flavours in one dish they end up fighting with one another, resulting in very confusing and surprisingly blend food. That’s definitely the case here. The flavours aren’t well-rounded. The chef really needs to develop a good palette.
The service was friendly but the food came much too quickly. We weren’t even half way through the appetizers but entrees were served already. We just put down the knifes and forks after the entrees and the waitress was already asking about dessert. We actually had to tell her to slow things down. It’s a somewhat pricy restaurant, not a fast food joint!
All in all you can tell they try to do the right things but the quality (flavour) of the food just doesn’t match the price point. A huge disappointment. I will say this though—I might just go back for that big yummy plate of fish’n chips!
My sisters and cousin gathered to celebrate my sisters birthday and Cindy our waitress was attentive and friendly.
The wings here are amazing! The view is spectacular! Great for a Happy Hour
Booking was very easy online.
Good location for entertaining out of town friends, food and service very good and cost for lunch very reasonable.
La comida rica y en general a buen precio, boquean ambientación del lugar, nos sentamos en la terraza y el atardecer estuvo muy bonito,
Ordered the Argentinian paella and for the price there was a depressing amount of seafood in it. Wait staff were okay, got charged a second time for tea when they refilled my pot and used the same tea bag. Wait staff were friendly but overall not happy with my experience and will choose somewhere else next time
Beautiful view, right on the water, spectacular sunset. I had a prawn salad that was $30.00 and had 5 very small prawns. The salad was really good but was just a salad. I had one the next day at another place for $15 that was just as good just no view. My husband had a steak. Same thing. It was good but not great and really, really small. The staff raved about the cheese cake. It was something you could get at Super Store but dressed up really nice with powdered sugar and chocolate drizzle to look fancy. You pay twice as much for average food so you sit on the ocean. Just know that. I have had really good food for the same price and sat on the water front else where.
Staff and service were great. The food is just not that good. When you are charged $18 for a chicken sandwich make the bread delicious and the chicken larger than the size of a toonie.
There is no value in this restaurant. Great ambience but geared more towards tourists and not locals.
We visit the Blue Canoe every year. This year the food was really just ok. 29$ for a steak that was tiny and overcooked, the paella had NO flavour at all ..very disappointing
Nice spot for a night out and friendly, good service
We go every year for our anniversary. This year the food was cold and the service was very poor. Probably time to change restaurants for next year.
Blue Canoe has been my go-to place for family events for years. The last time, I was there on a first date. The food is amazing: creative, heavy on locally sourced seafood (yum!), lots of wonderful sharing plates, great options for vegetarians and vegans and those who just don't like fish (other meats available), and bucking the growing trend, most things are not super-spicy or laced with ciliantro, thank goodness. And the service is stellar. I'm not sure that they're quicker than most, but every time I've been we've been made to feel that our table was the number one priority and they were in love with us. And not in a creepy, intrusive way or a fakey Keg way. They seem genuinely happy to see us, so I'm always genuinely happy to see them. I don't know how they select or train staff, but I wish every restaurant would do it that way. It's a very fun and comfortable place to be and probably my favourite restaurant mainly because of how well we are always treated there.
Excellent food, drink service and view. Highly recommended.
Great deck dining with spectacular sunset and delicious food! Super friendly and efficient staff!
