Adam and Luke are a dream team behind the bar!!
Always a pleasure to have them guide a dinner out with their knowledge selections! Great dinner .
Shout out to the hostess’s too!!
We very much enjoyed sampling this year’s “Unsung Heroes”. Everything else we had was superb. Our server, Julie, was attentive, informative and altogether charming. The only problem for my husband was the noise level; he is VERY hard of hearing. This , however, does not stop us from dining at this most excellent restaurant.
BWC is simply the best you can find in a restaurant. period. it has been so good for so long (Ive been coming for more than a,decade) and it never disappoints. This time, we literally flew from Toronto to Vancouver JUST TO GO THERE FOR DINNER. Thats how good it is. This time, EVERY time. BLUE WATER CAFE NEVER disappoints, but dont take my word for it...read the other reviews...it has been MONTHS since anyone DIDNT give this place 5 out of 5. Last year, on back to back evenings, I had dinner at Blue Water Cafe and then NOBU in London, and NOBU was excellent but its no contest, BLUE WATER IS BETTER. I'm already planning my next visit!
This restaurant ,as usual, was perfect in every respect. The food was outstanding and the service flawless.I would recommend it to anybody. But dont forget te reserve in advance. It s very busy....
Presentation and taste of food is going down, service is still good
Not too many complaints about our evening at Blue Water Cafe, but we left feeling a little underwhelmed.
We really loved the ambiance here - great date night spot!
Overall though, felt the value was a little lacking. The food was good, but not great, and we received particularly average service (we were simply asked for our order while the server next to us offered up descriptions and recommendations to her table).
Tried some of Unsung hero menus and loved them. Looking forward for next year’s ingredients. Excellent services as usual.
When we think of “blue” we think of Miles Davis or John Coltrane and feeling of loneliness or desolation (perhaps this is a distinctly American perspective). Blue Water Cafe, for us, redefined blue from a state of morose to a state of elation. This was hands down some of the best and most diverse seafood we’ve ever had, especially because every dish seemed to highlight the freshness and flavor of seafood in its natural element. Aside from the delectable edibles, the service blew us away with how they seemed to be constantly aware of our needs without ever seeming doting or overbearing. Overall, we felt this was an experience of a lifetime and not to be missed. Worth every single damn penny (or looney) in your pocket.
As always, absolutely fantastic experience all around. Well done BWC.
Our food was amazing. We got the sablefish and the char. Chris our server was incredible. I wanted to take him home with us. Our only dislike was at first we were happy to go to the wine room because the main room was very noisy but then they ended sitting a very large table of maybe 13 noisy young kids next to us so it wasn’t very enjoyable.
Absolutely amazing experience!! The best seafood I’ve ever tasted
Our server, Melissa, was fantastic. She had great recommendations and the food was outstanding.
This was our first time here and the experience did not disappoint. The food was outstanding. We ordered the seafood tasting, the seafood plateau, the sturgeon, the lingcod, and the pistachio crème brûlée. Everything was absolutely delicious. If you love seafood, this is the restaurant for you. Their flavours are paired perfectly in every dish. The service was also very seamless and professional. Our waiter, Isidro, was fantastic. It was only his second shift and he was incredibly knowledgeable about their complicated menu. He made our experience so memorable and we cannot wait to come back.
Food was good, I cannot fault the menu nor how it was cooked.. I was surprised at the quantity vs price. Wine list is extensive but out of reach for most clientel.
Our server, Sheena, was delightful, knowledgeable and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. She made our evening special.
Great waiter, wonderful food.
So far one of the best restaurants I've been to in Vancouver.
You know it's going to be a great experience since the moment you arrive to the restaurant. The hostesses gave us a warm welcoming, and were very friendly and helpful.
After we settled down in our table, the server immediately greeted us. He was extremely professional and knowledgable about the items on the menu. The waiter thoroughly described what was on the menu, and particularly recommended any of their three signature dishes: the Chard, the Sablefish, and the Scallops. We ordered all of them. My guests were fascinated with the taste of their dishes, and I fell in love with their traditional Sablefish recipe. In addition, we asked for a wine recommendation and the one he suggested was a perfect fit for what we were looking for.
Finally, it is worthy to mention that we went there on a Wednesday night and our conversation extended until late. We were the last guests in the place, but we never felt that usual pressure of having to leave. This is strongly appreciated since I have been in places where they kick you out in a discourteous manner.
Definitely going back.
Food was salty except for the lobster. Abuts sablefish sushi was below expectation.
As usual at the Blue Water Cafe, they nailed it! From the moment we arrived they took care of us. The wait staff are knowledgeable, attentive but never pushy. The food was excellent and the wine list has some gems that you can’t easily find. The pistachio creme brûlée was excellent. The price point is at the higher end of the spectrum but given the quality of the product and the overall experience, well worth it. Thank you for another memorable evening. I’ll be back for sure!
Great birthday experience!
Amazing food and good service! Worth every bucks you pay!
Excellent service food and ambience!
Beautiful and delicious. I was traveling alone and sat at the sushi bar -- It was wonderful to watch the artisans at work, and I was treated royally by the kind and attentive staff. Totally lives up to its reputation; not to be missed.
The experience was lovely, however, a new Server was been shadowed (trained). He was clearly not ready.
My granddaughter & I were celebrating Birthdays and were served a wonderful Carrotcake treat both on a stone ‘plank’, embossed with ‘Happy Birthday’ written twice in Chocolate, so it could be read from both sides of the table. There were two candles. Very nice touch! 😄
First time dining at Blue Water Cafe and it will definitely not be my last. Wonderful experience once I stepped in from the snow.
Very lively atmosphere. My meal was delicious. Received exceptional service from Michael.
I will be back!
Lovely meal, good service ad nice atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant to friends
Excellent food and service. The fish was some of the freshest we’ve had! Definitely one of the best meals we’ve eaten!!
Always a treat to visit this place. All the hosts are friendly, food is delicious , and our server Melissa makes it all a perfect experience.
Our server never came back to the table after ordering our food and opening wine until we were completely finished eating. He seemed extremely busy and impatient with us from the moment we sat down. We ordered a bottle of wine which he opened but, NEVER poured any after that for us. Our food was brought to us by someone from the kitchen, sat it down on the table and walked away. NEVER asked if we needed anything else (we like pepper and parm cheese on our pasta). Trying to save a small amout of our bottle of wine for dessert....30 min goes by after completng our meal, waiting for dessert menue....finally just decided to finish our bottle of wine and ready for check to leave our server came over and said "no dessert or anything" ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!! You would expect to be asked how your meal was, wine poured from a bottle of expensive bourdoux and a dessert menue for a restaurant of this level. The food was a 4.5 star! Birthday dinner, dissapointed by the service especially since we were sitting at a table that was directly ajacent to the service bar in which he was at several times. NEVER turned around to ask how we were!!!
バンクーバーの地元で人気と言うのが分かりました！ シーフードの新鮮さ&素材の味が引き立つ調理法 寿司に至っては日本で食べるより美味しかった気がした。
Every thing we ordered was fresh and amazing. Best seafood experience ever!!
The food was great, service was great, lighting and decor were excellent. I walked in with no expectations and walked out with a new favorite restaurant.
Enjoyed the evening very much. Not inexpensive but priced in line with overall quality. Oysters on the half shell were about the best I have ever had. Only minor complaint was the noise level and table. Had to move seats due to a large noisy group adjacent and the table we were seated at was high and wobbly. A bit frustrating when everything else - service and food was top notch.
We really enjoyed our meal for Lunar new year’s eve. We had 2 vegetarians and 1 toddler in our party and the server took amazing care of us with wonderful food suggestions.
I hosted 4 clients at the Blue Water Cafe and my clients ordered the Scallops, Sushi and 2 of us had the house special - the delicious Sable Fish main course. We shared the seafood tower and we all tried the jelly fish. (but the shrimps and oysters were the best). My guests were very impressed with the ambiance, food and service and this was their first visit to Vancouver. I am sure these clients will be recommending Blue Water Cafe to their 6000 delegates and exhibitors for individual dining and private larger group events. Well done Blue Water! Our server Darryl T was excellent!
Food was exceptional, worth the price. We had a very well-informed and helpful server who dealt well with questions about gluten intolerance as well as details on the menu choices. She helped us create a 3-course meal that progressed perfectly. The main was a sablefish (black cod) tail served on the bone (not an problem to debone) to be shared by two. The meal only would have been improved had we time for dessert and coffee, which we didn't. The wines are pricey, but poured generously, and with a good range of choices - BC vineyards and much more. The space is large and open with good views of the kitchen and sushi bar, not so good for background noise levels. We had asked for a "quiet corner" when we booked, and they did what they could in that regard. We'd go back without any hesitancy.
Gorgeous room, with open kitchen, sushi, and oyster bar areas. Great service with friendly staff. Matt (the oyster shucker) was amazing, very skilled, and entertaining. The food was amazing, and the selection of sake was excellent!
Just amazing! The food couldn't be better. A pricey place but money well spent.
Excellent service from Tara
