Excellent meal here, my husband got the scallops that we to die for( if we ever get to go back I’m getting them next), I had the halibut special which was tasty but wasn’t quite as hot as would have liked. Didn’t want to take the time to have them warm it up more and then have my husbands meal grow cold. We also had an excellent selection of oysters on the half shell recommend by our excellent waiter. Service was fantastic and friendly. 3 scoops of yummy sorbet for dessert.
We were visiting
Vancouver from Florida and picked Blue Water due to it's high rating. We
were not let down. Very fresh seafood. Not over cooked. Our server was attentive and helpful.
Beautiful place to eat and very accommodating. The only other place in the world where I’ve experienced this quality of dining is Attica in Melbourne, Australia. If you enjoy seafood like i do, it is the best choice in Vancouver IMO.
Great waiter, great wines, great dish presentation, awesome and fresh flavors. The works. I loved it.
Everything you want in a Vancouver restaurant, including very attentive service.
My father LOVED the lobster bisque feature and the lamb tbones were to die for!
As always, they go above and beyond with food and service! Can’t wait to go back!
Although everything was lovely it was not a “blow me away” restaurant. For the price I wouldn’t go back.
For being sold out every night I would have expected the kitchen to be A LOT FASTER. We waited quite a long time for our dishes. Even sashimi took a looong time.
Went there based on good Trip Advisor and local reviews on a Wednesday night - waiter was surly and non-attentive -tried to rush us - didn't fill water glasses - place so noisy couldn't talk- overpriced food - very small portions - wine section was limited
The service was excellent and the food was very good but after all the hype, it just didn't WOW me
best food we ate in vancouver so far as tourists coming from asia
Execellent as always.
Next time, I will ask to be seated in the main room
Outstanding seafood. Great service and suggestions by our waiter. Wine service and support was excellent. I will return.
Met by polite and courteous staff who answered all questions. Seafood was excellent. Noise level allowed all 6 guests to be part of the conversation which was nice. A great spot to bring our international guests to taste the best of Vancouver.
Great experience. Absolutely loved it . We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday and the service was great . Romantic atmosphere and just great :)
Consistently great food and fantastic service! Love coming here!
Food was amazing , presentation and taste.
Their “financier” petit four were a real let down after a meal that caliber.
Celebrating a family birthday so choose to come again after wonderful service and amazing food in the Fall. From the attitude of the hostess to the aloofness of our server it wasn’t great. I wasn’t I wasn’t informed that we would be placed in a side room with zero ambiance and called twice to confirm our reservation. I supplied a cake and when the server brought it to the table and just plunked it down In front of the wrong person (she realized her error after we told her for the 4th time whose birthday it was) she actually pushed it across the table to the correct birthday girl. When asked if they sing or anything she said it wasn’t her thing. Honestly there are many other restaurants out there to spend hundreds of dollars on for dinner. Hope it’s gets better at Bluewater soon as we won’t be racing back.
The wait time for food was very long due to a large party in front. Should have offered some concession.
The environment is nice. The service are wonderful. Especially for the lady who served us. Food is tasty except it was too salty especially for the fish. And it seems the soy sauce & the vegetables underneath did not match the favour of the fish. There was too noisy whole night that surprising me. That will not be the first priority cafe that I will suggest my friends to come for dinner. I would strongly recommend if it can reduce their seasonings in the near future.
I just tried the seafood tower. The scallops are a bit salty and the jelly fishes takes a bit strong. But the oysters are delicious and the tunas are nice. I would recommend get the Seafood simpler and order the oysters separately and the entrees. I love their bread with the sauce serves as sides while we are waiting for the tower. Waitress is friendly and no up selling. Great environment. Worth going again :)
The food was the best we've ever had. The service was great and my wife and I had the most memorable night.
Blue Water Cafe was recommended to me by a friend and it certainly lived up to the recommendation. The food and service were fantastic.
Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, wine & features! She made the dining experience first class and was noticed by all. Service was prompt and food was outstanding as always. We will be back soon!
A birthday celebration for our son, it was all fantastic!
Good dinner at the Blue Water Café, our server (John) was fabulous and made us feel welcome and special. Crab cakes were awesome so were the sushi rolls however we did find it a bit pricey for what we got.
Outstanding food and service. A giant thank you to our server Julie for making our evening so special!
We were a table of 6 vancouverites. The sushi and sable fish and duck were all outstanding
The service team eased us through the evening with grace and great timely service
Always fabulous and a great place to showcase our BC cuisine!
Fantastic restaurant for a special occasion. Excellent seafood with a variety of raw and cooked. Try it....You will be very glad.
The experience was outstanding. Our wait staff was attentive and professional.
Blue Water Cafe was a culinary delight. We went for a birthday, and was greeted with top tier refined seafood, exceptional service, and a multitude of gastronomic creations
We had a wonderful visit to Blue Water. The food and drink were divine, and our server, Tara, was a wonder. We will come back to Vancouver just to visit this restaurant again.
My husband and I always enjoy our time at Blue Water Cafe. The staff is friendly and the service exceptional. Most importantly, the food was perfecto!!!! This has truly become our fav place to eat😀
Our server Melissa made the experience excellent. She was kind, helpful, attentive and efficient. The food was fabulous. Started with a salad that had mixed greens, feta cheese, apple slices, walnuts and strawberries. Amazing! We had the Dungeness Crab Roll, which was done to perfection with fresh ingredients and perfectly rolled. We also had the flat iron steak, cooked medium rare with a delicious sauce. It was quiet enough that we could talk and hear each other. We also enjoyed watched the sushi chefs and the food being cooked in the open kitchen.
I regret to write that my experience at Blue Water was not positive. It’s reputation is by far overrated. First and foremost I could not hear myself speaking. The volume ;of the entire restaurant was astonishing. I literally could not hear the waiter. I left feeling exhausted.
The sushi was good but nothing out of the ordinary and I ve had much better. The Kobe beef was down right poor, it tasted more like stew as it was over cooked.
Up until my visit to Blue Water Cafe I was a seafood virgin. A friend suggested we go to BWC for dinner as my first seafood experience, I agreed begrudgingly. I promised myself that 2019 is going to be the year of living outside my comfort zone. Oysters...amazing! Out of the halibut, sablefish, ling cod...the sablefish was my favourite. Thank you to our server whos name I now forget for all her help and extensive knowledge( I ask alottt of questions) she was fabulous! Thank you BWC for making my first seafood experience an amazing one! See you again soon!
My friend and I ordered the seafood tower to celebrate her birthday. The oysters and prawns were delicious, however the clams were bland and none of the sauces seemed suitable to dip the clams in. The mini versions of some appetizers that came with the tower were overall good, however they were over-seasoned.
I was not particularly impressed by our server. It felt like because my friend and I were younger that they were talking down to use with a condescending tone. On multiple occasions, our server would come to our table and only address me, while basically ignoring my female friend. It certainly seemed like they assumed we were a couple, which was fine, however the fact that they would only address me felt sexist...it's 2019, you can't assume that the man will make the decisions.
This behaviour aside, after we finished our meal, the server came back to clear the table. While reaching for my glass of water, they tipped it over and spilt the entire glass onto my phone.
Overall, food was decent, but I would not qualify it as the best seafood in Vancouver. Service was subpar. Ambience was good, but I just generally prefer places that aren't so loud. I was getting a headache from having to raise my voice to talk to my friend. I was, however, impressed by the hand towels in the washroom in place of paper towels.
Blue Water Cafe is one of my all time favourite Vancouver restaurants. I have never had anything less than an exceptional experience when dining there.
Some of the best seafood and sushi I have had in North America. The staff were lovely and the drink selection will cater for everyone.
