Great food, excellent service, price was ok. For food is fair. Once you add wine and desert, it can quickly escalate. Somehow I can‘t correlate the price to the proposed value.

Our experience at Blue Water Cafe was fantastic. We received top notch service by Jose, who was very attentive without being pushy or overbearing. We had oysters, caviar (to die for!) and the seafood tower. The food was extremely fresh- the best seafood I’ve had in a long while! If you’re in Vancouver looking for a seafood restaurant I 100% recommend! Outstanding!!!

Mice running around outside was a turn off.
Felt sick the morning after from the scallops.
Expectations were high, supposed to be one of the best in Vancouver.
Outstanding service.

Service was very attentive and friendly. It took a long time until the food arrived and also between courses.
The taste of the food was mediocre for the price.

We recently celebrated my wife’s Birthday at Blue Water Cafe. From the time we arrived until the end of our meal the evening blew us away. Friendly greeting, nice table, great waiter and of course a fantastic meal. Chris our waiter was attentive to our needs , he suggested some great meal ideas. We went with the fresh oysters, sushi, a garden salad, mains were fresh halibut in a wonderful sauce and scallops. We finished off with a dessert to die for and a chocolate martini. We can’t say enough about Chris our waiter who looked after us all night. We will definitely be back soon.

Sat outside which made the noise level drop nicely. This place definitely lived up to its hype particularly when it came to the food.

Excellent seafood, great service, stylish interior. It is a bit pricey but perfect for a date or special occasion. Has some outdoors seating at the front of the restaurant but the interior is more special.

Excellent ingredients as usual but a little underwhelming this time. Heirloom tomato salad was good, not great. We had a few rolls and the only standout was the Dungeness Roll. I don't even remember the others. The Halibut and Tuna were good but the albacore was the star; like butter. Son had the Wagyu flat iron and it was very good. $50 worth good, not sure, but the best dish at the table without a doubt. Great wait staff as usual, but was a little disappointed that dishes remained so long on the table. For a $250 meal for 3 people and no alcohol, I expect a little better service and everyone just seemed tired. Shame.

Our meal was one of the best we've ever eaten. We, along with another couple, were visiting Vancouver for a couple days and a friend recommended Blue Water to us. We tried to make a reservation for dinner but it was completely booked so we took an early 5pm slot and glad we did. Each of us ordered one of the specials of the day and I have to say we weren't disappointed. While the specials were salmon and halibut, which seems rather ordinary, were so delicious and the ingredients all melded together and the flavors were superb. We each had a starter, a first course and entree and each course was fabulous. The wait staff was great and very knowledgeable of the menu and ingredients, as well as the wine offered. We raved about the restaurant and food for days! You won't be disappointed!

Blue Water Cafe is always crowded, noisy; but the food is good, with such a variety of seafood and lovely presentation.
But....we ordered a white wine to go with the meal, and it had some sort of particles in it. I asked the Michael the waiter about it, and he said maybe it was sediment particles. He took the glasses to confer with the bar(?) and returned with them. I picture a shrug of the shoulders. I said you don't know what it really is, and I don't either; so please replace them. Why would you serve wine which obviously has something which doesn't belong in the glass?
I did receive a credit for the two returned glasses.

This was a fantastic gourmet meal. The oysters and sushi were amazing, as was the rest of the food. The seafood tower was very spectacular. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We chose to eat outside since the weather was warm, although inside looked lovely too. The ladies toilets were memorably Japanese, but gentleman were disappointed by standard lovely washroom facilities. This was a wonderful last night of our holiday meal and we thoroughly recommend it.

Very rarely am I unable to find some flaw at dinner outings, and this was one of those rare occasions (I don't remember how many years ago was the previous one). Oysters (what a selection!), shrimp, ceviche, sashimi--they were all so superb that we passed on the main entrees (only tried the char). Everything was outstanding--magnificent presentations and mouth-watering flavors. Extensive wine list. Try as I may, the only thing I can find to quibble about is the very limited selection of greens/salads. We sat outside and it was a beautiful evening. The service was outstanding. The warm chocolate cake divine. This place is expensive, of course, but worth every penny. My first 5-star rating in years.

Best seafood I’ve ever had!
Everything is fresh.
Grilled lobster is absolutely the one you should try.
Sable fish and oysters are also great!
It’s pricy but is totally worth it.

Great food and wine. Oysters and sashimi are very fresh and seafood is delicately prepared. The server was friendly and professional — not too many touches. Wonderful experience overall. I also got a cookbook based on the restaurant’s recipes as a souvenir.

This spot is highly rated everywhere for Vancouver restaurants. That just goes to show you that it takes 7 years to gain a reputation and 7 years to lose one. Out of the 5 meals we had in Vancouver, this was clearly the most mediocre. The baked scallops were all Panko and few scallops, which was not a big problem because the few scallops I found had no flavor. The fruit and goat cheese salad was the highlight of the meal. The sablefish was tasteless and the seared tuna (big portion) was stringy! We did not stay for dessert.
