we were pleasantly surprised how great the service was! everyone was so attentive. We have been to the restaurant before and found service and food to be hit and miss so tonight was a good night. We were most impressed while waiting to be seated - the hostess had gone to check if our table was ready and another staff member (who was clearly not working - going off shift) stopped to make sure we had been helped. I would never fault someone who was off shift for not checking on us - we all know what its like to be finished work and want to go home - but the fact that she did take a few seconds to make sure we had been helped impressed both me and my husband. overall a great evening.
As always the Boathouse never disappointed . Michael has been our server many times in the past and we always enjoy him. Food was so delicious with the exception of the dessert. The manager removed the torte from our bill . Thanks for an awesome anniversary experience.
Food and waiter was great, but the food took an hour to get to us as there was a table of 45 in the restaurant. I was surprised that the manager did not come and give us a free drink due to the delay.
I will definately return and give them another chance.
We went to the Boathouse in New West for Father’S Day. The food was OK however I thought it was way overpriced. Considering the location it is not in a high end location, you are not in White Rock...yet you still have to pay for parking.
Food was good as always, server wasn't too attention just blah.
Overall good pledge for grabbing dinner or meeting up with friends. Found cocktails really expensive though. Almost cost of an appy or meal.
Parking always an issue and challenging; disappointing that Happy hour rates no longer apply to restaurant ordered drinks
This is the 2nd time I have been at the Boathouse. Both times were great. The location is nice a long the river. The staff are friendly and eager to accommodate. There are lots of items on the menu, so there is something for everyone. I am looking forward to going again. Thanks
Excellent Riverside view. Lots of table, patio. Good selection menu.
Service was excellent; however I had maple salmon, it was overcooked.....other person had pasta, he enjoyed it.....I didn't complain as it was a Birthday celbration, didn't want to ruin occasion.
Service was too slow when the restaurant was not busy at all. Food was average and not worth the high price.
The food was very good and the nature show of an eagle on the adjacent building was really cool.
We met a friend of mine there to catch up, autograph pictures and just a general good time.
Thank you again for always being so spectacular!
Had brunch with some old friends. The food was good but was surprised that there was no special Sunday brunch menu. Had a very limited selection of brunch style dishes.
Our waitress, Edith, was amazing! We had a big group and she provided great service.
Service was bad, our server didn’t pay attention to us. When I called to ask about vegetarian options they said there were about 4 but when we got there they had 2 options and only one that can be changed to vegetarian but same price as a meat dish. I think the vegetarian options should be cheaper than meat option
We've dined there numerous times. This is the first time we wouldn't give them an outstanding review. We waited close to five minutes for someone to seat us. Didn't see any staff at all. Four more customers arrived after us before anyone arrived. Waitress was less than attentive. Caesar salad was dry and overly garliced. Asked for roasted potatoes got mashed. I did not call attention to mistakes on order, couldn't be bothered. Child with us had a grilled cheese sandwich and part of it was burnt. Other diners with us were ok with there meals.
Would recommend Boathouse normally to people that is why I put would recommend on this review.
We had birthday reservations for Saturday May 18, 2019. A family member suggested this place, even though their last experience less than a year ago left them feeling 'ripped off'. They were willing to give The Boathouse a second chance.
The two Hostesses seating us did not wait for us to arrive at table, they basically dropped the menus before we arrived at the table and left. Not acceptable for a fine dining establishment.
The waiter was abrupt with our questions, did not give proper answers and seemed distracted and rushed. We felt like we were bothering her. The restaurant was not even close to being full. For a fine dining restaurant, we should not have to ask so many questions. It is their job to inform us of what the menu is. She was asked if there were specials, her answer "nope, feature sheet is coming next week".. and walked away, very unprofessional.
She was asked if there was amber rum, she looked confused before she stumbled out the answer. Either the rum not the Appleton' Amber Rum the birthday guy asked for or the soda was flat. Very poor bar drink.
She was asked what the seasonal vegetables were, she answered "broccoli and carrots". Actually it was green beans and carrots.
She was asked what the daily catch was, Again why DO WE have to ASK. It should be her job to give us ideas and make our experience enjoyable.
Finally we, had to flag her down, just to order an appetizer...
On cue, our food arrived, some of us had not even dug in yet, she said the same thing "how are the first few bites" for the appetizer, main course and dessert. Really?? Could she not tell we didn't even have cutlery in our hands.
We had a bottle of white wine on the table which was getting pretty full with everything else. To make room we put the wine on the window sill. Usually in a fine dining restaurant, a wine stand is provided by the table.
Considering this was a $350.00 dinner out. The value for what we paid did not justify a nice evening out.
Our server - I believe his name was Jackson - was fantastic. His sense of humour, attentiveness, people skills, and experience made our meal flow very smoothly (even though my elderly mother-in-law was being a bit difficult). The restaurant overall was lovely - great place to spend Mother's Day dinner, and we are planning to return. Thanks so much!!
I was very impressed on how accommodating the staff was for our visit. They accommodated our seating preference and meal preference (no problem for changes from the menu). Our waitress was fantastic. Our food was prepared perfectly. Thank you for making our dining experience exceptional.
Our waiter was incredible.
He deserves a raise.
He was so genuine, friendly and attentive.
The food was excellent and the server that was assigned for us was great
Mother’s Day brunch was fabulous. The service was great and the food spectacular. We will certainly do this again. Parking is a pain with all the construction nearby but one day it will be back to normal.
The New west Boathouse is my place...it is the place we always go to celebrate or have a romantic dinner for 2. We Love it there...however this morhers day I was so disappointed. I made reservations so no problem there they got us in pretty quick considering...the food was such a disappointment. It was only buffet $50 a person and everything I took was ice cold....nothing like a gooey cold egg Benedict. The burners were all out on the trays and I had to point that out (took a bit to get someone to re light) all the tongs and spoons were completely caked in old food so had to ask them to bring new ones (and that took awhile) as I couldn't even scoop anything (not sure you should for food safety) nobody was there maning the trays keeping an eye out..stiring things...etc...very disappointing..so basically my $200 mothers day gift out was cold eggs and a waffle. I'm really hoping the next time we go for dinner we dont have any issues but as for Mothers day I wont be back...please dont take away my favorite place
Was very surprised charged for tea and coffee for brunch buffet.
Mother’s Day and birthday brunch. Very busy and we were told there is a one and a half hour turn around time which I didn’t expect. Wished I could have stayed longer.
We went for Mothers Day and it was busy which was understandable. The service was great, the food was the buffet and it was fine but not 4-5 star dining (e.g thawed seafood and desserts obviously ordered in bulk from Costco). The price was outrageous $280 for brunch 6 people for the all up experience. If you are going to go to a Boathouse, go to the one in Kits or Horseshoe Bay it has much better atmosphere.
Food for Mother’s Day brunch was cold as we were there at 9am for opening.
The value for money not worth it. Dishes are very small and pricey. Fish was tasteless
Another fabulous evening at the Boathouse. Michael our server created a wonderful evening for my friend and I. The crab was perfect as always.
So appreciate Michaels professionalism, great sense of humour and again ensuring our dining experience was perfect.
Thanks you b
We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and we had a great time at the Boathouse. We would definitely go again!
The Boathouse is in a lovely location with beautiful views of the Fraser River at New Westminster River market. The sourdough dinner rolls are fantastic! The seafood pasta was also very good. I am going back there again tomorrow night. We took the QtoQ ferry from Queensborough to get there which was fun and handy.
Excellent location, view and very professional and friendly service. They sure know how to make you feel special.
Lukewarm welcome upon entering the restaurant. Reaction from hostess and front-of-house supervisor had me guessing that they didn't honor my seating request in the reservation - and they hadn't. The hostess didn't say a word when seating my wife and I, and neither did the server that poured our water. Not a single word. Our primary server was very nice, although a bit too busy (?) as we waited quite a while: to give our order, to receive our drinks, to receive the bill. Our appetizer and entrees arrived together - no staggering and timing of the food. Our server was good, but most of the other staff we interacted with seemed like they didn't want to be there, which made us feel like we also didn't want to be there.
Horrible service this time around, took waitress 20mins to inform us the bar had run out of ceaser mix and took another 15mins to get a beer in replacement. Food was mediocre thus time as well. Used to be a great place, going downhill now.
We had breakfast there on Sunday with some friends.
Service was good and the ambiance nice.
Selection and quality of the food was certainly not worth the price....$85 including tip for 4 people.
We stayed at the Inn at the Quay the previous evening.
I found the prices were a bit high this time. The food was good though and we enjoyed our meal.
Consistent food and service, always. Great location, parking could be better... but it’s a small price to pay for gorgeous steak dinner.
Great service , food was all over cooked
